When bitcoin roars, all altcoins become bloodbath https://www.coingecko.com/en

Not this time, bitcoin has risen +10 %, litecoin also +10 % and ethereum is also in green (according to worldcoinindex).
Other coins like dash, zcash, monero have dropped a bit, but not massively

I think we're already past that phase when people are just asking money around the Internet. You don't see kids anymore begging in this place, or maybe it's because begging is not allowed in here. I don't really know, but I think the world has evolved enough for people to know that other people don't care about them. That other people are not going to give them any money.

I noticed that most times when btc is rallying almost all of the altcoins dip. and when there is a crash in btc all altcoins suffer as well. my interpretation is that for the first alts can't sustain the price against the $ if btc is high. and for the second, everyone is panic selling btc.
what do yo guys think ??
It's hard to accept this, but you're right, whenever bitcoin increases or decreases, the altcoins is at risk.  These still have many altcoin can keep the original value or small risk.

It's a double edged sword, you would think lot's of alts are down, maybe it's time to buy. On the other holding btc with it's rising value is attractive as well. Especially with extra "fork" money. But after a while it will all stabilize again.

The increase in bitcoin prices is affecting the altcoins prices negatively. Because many people are selling altcoins and trying to get Bitcoin. October 25 is a very important date for split. If the split is positive, altcoins prices may fall too much.

Lots of people think it's an important date - but it looks like bitcoingold is a scammy premine ponzi and that most exchanges won't be listing it.

I think people are confused between bitcoingold and the segwit2x thing (which is important).

I noticed the effect of bitcoin on altcoin is very confusing.
sometimes when the price of BTC rises altcoin down and when the BTC price goes down the altcoin price goes up. or vice versa.
which is definitely the price of Bitcoin greatly affect the price Altcoin although I do not know what the reason. Cheesy

Before when bitcoin goes up, altcoin is down. Recently before this rally, when bitcoin was down, altcoin was down also. Not again when bitcoin is up most altcoin is down which the price of bitcoin whether its up or down is not really correlated or does not have a pattern.

Nothing people can do if must be sell it right now because the price is keep up. The effect of Bitcoins value make some altcoins massively down. The best way is selling the altcoins they have to save their money.

Most Altcoins are dependent on bitcoin, but bitcoin is not dependent on Altcoin. Once bitcoin decrease, altcoin would possibly do the same, but once bitcoin pump it is not really the reason why altcoin pump. There were case that the demand gor bitcoin is really high and altcoin was mostly low. It usually happens when a hard fork is to happen, personally because of my expectation that bitcoin would rise, I let go of all my altcoins and convert it to BTC. Last August 1 hard fork, The BTC holders that time recieved BCC based on their btc account. And this was also the expectation incoming hard fork that is why holders are storing as much as they could even letting go of the altcoins.

You have some point of what you say, but it is not only when there is a hard fork (as this has happened only in the last few months and this pattern is happening each time there is a hipe in BTC).
The idea is that when BTC grows everyone wants to hold BTC and that is why alts keep the same price in USD or drop, as they convert them into BTC and USD to buy BTC...
Usually after the hipe is over and the price starts to settle, the price of alts are skyrocketing...
So now are there is a new ATH the price will hipe some more, so I do not expect alts catching up anytime soon Wink

What I see is when the price of bitcoin increase almost all altcoin price dropped but when the bitcoin price going down, all altcoin is going up. So it means almost all altcoins is depend on the price of bitcoin. If you look at Ethereum price, after the bitcoin price reach $4,700, ethereum price dropped to 0.06 per ethereum.
It is usually not like that. The trend has always been for all altcoins to go down as bitcoin goes down, and increase as bitcoin increases. Still, with the recent dump of altcoin for bitcoin due to the upcoming forks, the reverse has been the case and now we are seeing altcoins dropping rapidly while bitcoin keeps increasing.

Moreover, with any huge impact on bitcoin, the altcoins are always terribly affected. It is just always a sign of respect for the king. Grin

yes of course bitcoin affects altcoin price, if bitcoin is expensive then altcoin price will go down and become cheap, but if bitcoin price drops then altcoin price becomes expensive again, this I have monitored for 2 years, if you can take advantage of this cycle then you will get profit.

Interesting to know that someone is actually taking the benefits of using this cycle of profit loss to gain the extra profits. Because I really thought I was the only one who is applying this strategy. Good one and it's most easiest way to earn profits rather than investing into ICO sales and normal exchanger and stuff like that. Sometimes I have found that prices are even lower than presale because of bitcoin going up which means good opportunity to buy alts that had great ICO launch and release into exchanger afterwards. We can make this as complex as we could and as simple as we can!

Altcoins are totally depending on bitcoin and most of coins are measure according to the bitcoin standard also, as bitcoin price increases altcoin goes down and people starts buying them and this gives pump to their prices and a lot them are praying that bitcoin will stay up so that they can buy their respective altcoin bitcoin is ruler of crypto ad will remain.

If bitcoin price crash, yes, most altcoins will go down as well due to bitcoin has the biggest effect to crypto world.
But, if bitcoin on rally, usually altcoins such as ethereum, dash, byteball, bitconnect will follow to rise.
In this case, there's a time investors feels it's a good time to invest, and fear if bitcoin price decline and decide to sell off altcoins.
That's why there's no altcoins could compare or compete with bitcoin, if bitcoin fail, altcoins will worthless as well.

What you are telling is the theory for 80% traders who are buying other coins like ETH, DASH etc when their is correction in BTC and as soon as it gets settled they sell the altcoin and convert it to BTC.

Most of the people here have already seen and witnessd different price changes in the past few years since the bitcoin has started, and it has been common that when the bitcoin's price got changes, soon the alternate coins will follow. I have read and heard before how people tend to take advantage when the bitcoin price rises, its their time to buy alternate coins because they believe it will soon follow, unlike todays changes that it is kinda hard to predict when and what, this and that.

They're all connected to btc. Remember before the aug1 segwit, when btc price plummeted, alt did the same. That's why a lot of people including myself ceases trading momentarily for that time. So if you're looking to trade on alts, you pretty much would have an idea just by looking at btc movement

almost altcoin is down when bitcoin is rises and only some of the altcoin will follow bitcoin rises and the other altcoin will be down. maybe its for altcoin which have strong position in the market that will increase like btc.

but yes when btc crash, people become panic and selling their bitcoin because they don't want to see their investment in btc is loss. if they can think that when btc is crash, actually its their time to buy bitcoin again but most of people not doing this and only people which realize with this will buy bitcoin again.

This is not true. Although you have a bit of a point. Let me clarify.

Usually, when Bitcoin rises the most popular other cryptos also rise, as they tend to follow Bitcoin. However, the lower-end or lesser known cryptos do not follow the same pattern simply because they are not trustworthy or stable enough to risk investing in when Bitcoin or the others are simply safer options. Hope this makes sense to you.
