I think you can choose both of btc vs eth. But now, eth is only 300$, so if you buy eth and hold it, you can get more profit.
To my mind, btc and ether in 2018 are the leaders. i think that neo and ripple may join them following but this is not 100% information. I have read some articles about btc popularity and experts say it will be our main currency

Ethereum and Bitcoin both are two parts of crypto market so we should pick both the coins but Bitcoin is always top in the market so this year also it will be best coin and Ethereum is also promising platform so recent dump is really useful to make good profit in future so all are start to invest on Ethereum. But finally Bitcoin will reach a big pump in end of the year.
Ethereum will not ability to overrun bitcoin in near future. I think the demand for bicoin is still increasing. Lot of ICOs based on ETH and among those ICOs , there was so many failed project and scam projects, Because of this reason i think Price of Ethereum is not stable. But i think Ethereum should have long way to go.
If you wanna play safe, bitcoin more stable than Ethereum for now. But if you wanna invest for long term, its a good chance to buy more Ethereum and hold it. Ethereum already at dip right now, and I don't see it can go more lower.
