If I ask I prefer ETH rather than the BTC today because BTC prices are so low now that 2018 is so much preferred to invest in ETH because the larger the cost is now.

I would prefer both but if we'll base it in the history of cryptocurrency, I think trusting bitcoin would be an advantage. As for me, bitcoin would still remain on top though we all know that ethereum has a big potential as well, nothing could still beat bitcoin.

It doesn't matters which coin you buy this year as almost all the coins are going to drop in prices. The prices have been dropping for almost all the cryptocurrencies for few months now and there is no stop In sight. You are better off buying in small amounts and only with the money you can afford to lose.
