awesome, thank a lot. Just after posting that I realized that Clark had responded to my suggestion on his thread. I suggested this same thing to Clark a while ago. it was stupid of me to post this suggestion before i checked his thread.
I really don't see any problem here Wink

I don't want to seem rude, but I prefer Clark moody because you can see the order book in actual numbers without having to mouse over anything. Although, I can see why many prefer your site, maybe because they are more of a visual learner. Also, the side-bar feature is an advantage that you have over Clark moody. Anyways, I think its a good suggestion and I'm sure a lot of people would love the new feature.
I have a "policy" to show everything in some kind of visual form. But ok, some day you will see orderbook in numbers (for me it's just blur of information, but I've abandoned trading a while ago so I can be a little out of perspective Wink ).
I meant I was rude to Clark to go and suggest this to a "competitor" (I know nothing about your relationship) without checking his thread first. Also, pointing out advantages/disadvantages might come off as rude to you. Don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting you switch to the numbers style depth chart. It's my personal preference and I'm sure more people prefer the visual style that you're currently using. Although having the option to switch back and forth would be cool. Currently, I use both of your sites because they each have their own advantages. For me it seems like CM a couple seconds ahead as far as the "real time charting" goes.  I don't know the technical details about that, but it would be nice if you could reduce that delay somehow. Again, these are just suggestions that I think your users would love to see implemented.

I've changed counter from cookie id based to IP based, because there was some unknown issues for this solution.
This will count connections from multiple clients behind the same LAN network as one, but should be a lot more accurate anyway.

Also I've implemented anti crash system for exchanges services, so there's good chance issues like couple hours ago will not take place in the future.
do you have any plans to implement sounds into btccharts.com?  For example play a sound when a sell happens and different sound for a buy, and even better a separate sound for high volume or (as defined by the user) sell/buy, and an option to ignore trades under a certain volume threshold as defined by user. ofc you would have the option to mute it, or better yet, change the volume.  This would really help me a lot because I wouldn't have to watch my screen or even have the tab open to hear a rally/crash going on. I could be doing something else and I would hear it, rather than having to open the tab to check.
This feature is in my plans, but first I must finish what actually I'm working on. Lets say you can expect sounds in max 2 months.

Also, I like the fact that clark moody shows up to 0.00000 decimal points on the price because that is what mtgox goes by and you can tell when someone is just over/undercutting. Although, I can see why many prefer your site, maybe because they are more of a visual learner. Also, the side-bar and the ghost line features are an advantage that you have over Clark Moody. Nice tool you have created, thanks!
How about an option to split one browser tab/window into 2 or 4 different cells in either of which one could load exchange/market data of one's own choice?
I next version there will be exactly something like that, and it's actually ready: http://i.imgur.com/0gGDC.jpg
You can arrange anything very easily, add different modules. And store this as different layouts.
So far there's two modules, live vertical chart and archival chart (unlimited time range and archival orderbook data (every hour since Aug 2011), with possibility to replay almost every move since April 18 (orderbook changes and trades)).
Looks like I will finish this to the end of August.

If you set up some kind of debug version, I can give you the output when it happens. Don't know how you'd easily debug flash though…
I will setup some old PC that will be running 24h and I will see whats going on.

On an unrelated note, it's been stuck for 6 hours now. But this is different, because refreshing doesn't help.
Fuuuu... services were down, I've changed their restart for 12h, not 3h as usual (worked fine for months), and there we go, bad idea...
I will add some crash checking and auto restart in that case.

Man this is plain wrong, when I put my tin foil hat I see that there's crash right after btccharts is down.

I think it's on my (second) screen the whole time without anything covering it, although I do other stuff so the browser window doesn't have focus. I'll keep an eye on it though…
No focus don't have any impact on this case. Ok, so bad news for me - can't blame this on flash player Wink

I still got btccharts stalling on me a few times in the last days. I would notice "last trade" to be at 5 minutes, or in more extreme cases, multiple hours. I watch mtgoxUSD only, so this typically never happens… Refreshing it fixes it.
Do this occur when you have btccharts in inactive browser tab (or browser minimized)? Or btccharts were visible for this whole time?

yup, bitvps to the rescue! Cheesy

I've just wake up (sometimes you need sleep Wink ) and applying btccharts on new server, this can take ~2h if there will be no unexpected problem, but domain propagation can take a while (up to 24h) anyway.

edit: and I've just got mail from bitsforcoins, that they have some disk fail. My server should work but is still dead, I've send them mail about this and let's see how thing will go...

All good here. Thank you!
