BitcoinDark integrates InstantDEX - decentralised trading engine*

The BitcoinDark platform has integrated InstantDEX (iDEX), allowing decentralised trading from a range
of sources within the client. The current iDEX-enabled wallet is a beta release intended for testing by
the community. Feedback and support can be found on the BTCD bitcointalk forum and on the BTCD SuperNET
Slack channel.

InstantDEX has been in development for over a year, and this is the first time a working version has
been released for public use. InstantDEX is decentralised trading middleware: a piece of software that
sits between users and exchanges, allowing composite orderbooks to be built up from a number of sources,
including traditional centralised exchanges such as Poloniex and Bittrex, the distributed Multigateway,
and other decentralised options such as Nxt’s Asset Exchange. Trades are negotiated directly between
peers in near-realtime. Nominal flat fees are charged (rather than a percentage of the trade), depending
on the transaction fees and the source of liquidity.

Integration of InstantDEX is a core element of BitcoinDark’s strategy to recover cryptocurrency’s ideals
of decentralisation, allowing any user to trade with minimum risk from centralised exchanges and no
requirements for KYC.

Any news about the release of the new client? I still have problems to get the current wallet run on my Mac OSX 10.7. I am using supernet client atm to manage my BTCD.

In recent testing we found Ubuntu 14.04 had issue finding a dependecy (libminiupnpc.so.10) for "BitcoinDarkd" process. To resolve that you can follow these steps:

1. sudo apt-get install -y libminiupnpc-dev

2. Check if file required 'libminiupnpc.so' or 'libminiupnpc.so.10' is present on system by using this commmand: ls -lh /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libminiupnpc.so*

3. If 'libminiupnpc.so' is there but 'libminiupnpc.so.10' isn't use this command to make symlink: sudo ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libminiupnpc.so.8 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libminiupnpc.so.10

4. Now start BTCD Wallet again and it should work fine.

GoldenEye, a new version of the wallet will be coming soon with a one click installer for all platforms.  The current html wallet is a very raw beta version primarily for testing.

Symlinking was not enough. I had to update libstdc++ also (using an ppa).  Now, with libstdc++.so.6.0.21, seems all running well.
However, I had corrupted my blockchain and peers.dat, I had to restore the ~./BitcoinDark folder from a backup Shocked
Now everything runs again.

I cannot run the new HTML wallet because of a missing dependency (libminiupnpc.so.10).
Unfortunately Ubuntu trusty has only libminiupnpc8.
Where I can find the source codes?

Can you provide a static version?

I didn't leave enough buffer for Tx Fees so the payments got cut off.  I will carry over the 3.9 BTCD for next weeks payment.

Anything going on here?

Status on Teleport?

Sure, plenty, but most of the action is on Slack now (it's an almost troll-free environment).
InstantDEX integration is happening now, and the GUI looks good. BTCDdev is doing great stuff with pegged securities. James is currently working on additional privacy. Marketing campaign gearing up. It's looking good right now.

I believe the rebranding should be done by marketing BitcoinDark with themes of science fiction, magic, future tech, etc. It would go hand in hand with the concepts of 'teleport' and 'telepathy'.

I don't like the name though, and I wish it would be be changed. BitcoinDark sounds like a cheap fork of bitcoin. At least that was my own initial thought when I encountered it for the first time.

Perhaps the name should be a reference to the medium that is being transfered. I'm not a huge science fiction guy, so I don't know what that is in telepathy... energy?

...

@Audo, good post -  interesting ideas for rebranding and a name change is certainly worth considering - even if it was ultimately decided to stay with the existing one.

So we have a currency unit that:
1) does not exist in physical form,
2) is finite,
3) is available everywhere
4) cannot be seen or tracked.

In other words... the coin has value, because multible computer memories around the world are in consensus that your lengthy piece of characters have some of it. The coin exchanges hands when it is teleported near the reciever, who then uses his telepathic skills to collect it in secret without anyone noticing. As money the coin itself represents part of the physical goods of our world, allowing the owner to transform his labor into future consumption. The owner can feel secure that the coin supply cannot be inflated, bacause of a mathemathical formula that almost no-one understands. All in all, this allows anyone to hide his wealth, avoid taxes, have a lot of sex, buy drugs and be happy.

OK, maybe I went a little too far. Anyway, the name should hint towards some of these characteristics.

I did little searching and found some Latin words that are related. Perhaps someone who is great with names and is a native english speaker (and knows some Latin) could come up with a great name. Wink

ubique = anywhere, everywhere
argentum = money, silver
aurum = gold
denarius = money
opes = means, wealth, abundance, riches, resources.
tele = distance
porta = gate, entrance
patheia = “to be affected by”
Potior = to possess, hold, get possession of
Possessio = possession, property
bona = assets, belongings, Estate, good, goods, possession, property
finitus = finite
are you on acid?  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy this is stupid Idea. newbie account and changing btcd's name.  Grin
