I believe the rebranding should be done by marketing BitcoinDark with themes of science fiction, magic, future tech, etc. It would go hand in hand with the concepts of 'teleport' and 'telepathy'.

I don't like the name though, and I wish it would be be changed. BitcoinDark sounds like a cheap fork of bitcoin. At least that was my own initial thought when I encountered it for the first time.

Perhaps the name should be a reference to the medium that is being transfered. I'm not a huge science fiction guy, so I don't know what that is in telepathy... energy?

So we have a currency unit that:
1) does not exist in physical form,
2) is finite,
3) is available everywhere
4) cannot be seen or tracked.

In other words... the coin has value, because multible computer memories around the world are in consensus that your lengthy piece of characters have some of it. The coin exchanges hands when it is teleported near the reciever, who then uses his telepathic skills to collect it in secret without anyone noticing. As money the coin itself represents part of the physical goods of our world, allowing the owner to transform his labor into future consumption. The owner can feel secure that the coin supply cannot be inflated, bacause of a mathemathical formula that almost no-one understands. All in all, this allows anyone to hide his wealth, avoid taxes, have a lot of sex, buy drugs and be happy.

OK, maybe I went a little too far. Anyway, the name should hint towards some of these characteristics.

I did little searching and found some Latin words that are related. Perhaps someone who is great with names and is a native english speaker (and knows some Latin) could come up with a great name. Wink

ubique = anywhere, everywhere
argentum = money, silver
aurum = gold
denarius = money
opes = means, wealth, abundance, riches, resources.
tele = distance
porta = gate, entrance
patheia = “to be affected by”
Potior = to possess, hold, get possession of
Possessio = possession, property
bona = assets, belongings, Estate, good, goods, possession, property
finitus = finite

Okay!

Now that I own 2 BTCD for almost 24hr, the wallet started staking! My current weight is 1! LOL
Reward in 62 days! Counting the hours xD

So btcdev was quite friendly and explained for small amounts it takes longer for staking to become active - the more coins you have in the wallet, the faster it starts. Which is something I really don't understand, and also why is it so hard to predict a minimum amount necessary to start or rather how long your tiny amount of coin will take to be considered for staking.

Anyhow, thanks a lot everyone who was kind enough to try and help, everything should be ok now. Cheers!

Cross-Post From Slack

[ANN]

I'd like to announce that @windjc is taking the marketing lead and is currently putting together a comprehensive marketing plan.

I'm not exaggerating when I make the claim that BTCD has the most compelling tech in all of crypto.  However, it is clear that the message is not getting through and needs an overhaul in all areas , and windjc, with his many years of marketing experience, will help to change all that.

That being said, we don't have an "Ethereum" budget for marketing so we're going to need anyone and everyone that is willing and able to step up and volunteer in any way that you can, whether that be creating graphics, responding to posts on social media channels, writing blog material, etc.

Please make a post here if you are willing to volunteer and indicate any skills and/or an area you'd prefer to offer assistance.

Marketing activities will be centralized and operations will be coordinated  in a private channel, however community discussions are encouraged to take place here.

@windjc: can add his thoughts to clarify or correct anything i've said

(Additionally, Please post if you have any Web Dev experience and are willing to assist @veririchd with the html GUI development in any way he deems necessary)

Ok, I'm going to make a larger transfer of 5-10 coins and see if that kickstarts staking. I'll let you know in a few days.

Any change?

I have 2 coins now, since yesterday - more than 8 hours ago and 1000+ confirmations and the wallet still says I cannot stake because I don't have mature coins. I'm going to transfer in more coins, but it's still going to take a few days.

Someone able to understand the code could tell me if there is any minimum value condition for the icon to display active staking? Or is it in fact not staking until a certain threshold number of coins is reached? In that case the tooltip message could be a little more informative.
Do you unlock your wallet?

WTF, Who is deleted my last post?  Huh Huh Huh  It was just a greeting message for html wallet!!!

This is not a moderated thread. I had a post deleted before, check your pms?
Hi Matthew,
I know that this thread is not moderated thread.  Wink  It's so strange to me, because I did not get any message about it

I've been getting deleted posts from a variety of threads, ASICHEAD. Had one deleted the other day that I posted months ago Sad

Supposedly they were deleted for being off-topic, but I feel like they're stretching it a little

Hey guys, I don't believe any of the BTCD team are deleting your posts. It seems strange for that to happen. Wonder if its the BTCT admins playing around again like they did for crackers post when they thought he was advertising in this thread, something we had no problem with him doing in the first place.

Torrn

You're correct Torrn, it's definitely the mods who have deleted my posts Huh
very strange admin BTT, i prefered slack supernet is more active

Guys, how will be staking working after HTML version is out incompletely? Or its going to be two parallel clients?
Thanks.

This isn't a full-transition to html just yet, and to be clear the v.0 is for testing purposes and not meant as a replacement to the qt.

Even after full featured html is out, people can still use qt if that is what they choose, although with html having peggy, teleport, and bundled with iDEX and other services I'm sure most will prefer html.
