Josh is to ASIC as Amy is to Bakery  Wink

Haha I saw that episode on tv where she is the chef of a business and they try to fix failing restaurants. I believe the star of the show is chef Ramses. Point is that SHE IS A TOTAL RAGE QUEEN BITCH FROM HELL that Ramses had to leave. She fires help quicker then her customers come and go. She's fucken ugly too. I'd punch her just to get out of marriage and go to jail.

Oh btw that has got to be a photo-shopped Photo right?  If it's not it would explain A LOT!!!!

It's not a scam until they've run off with the money. Until then, they're just terrible at business.

I haven't read through everyone's posts but here is my view.

I believe they will eventually deliver to the masses BUT by the time that happens very few will want these devices anymore and no one will be able to recover their ROI.

Recently got paid and was about to order myself a Jalapeno but after through trawling through tonnes of info I have decided to order a bunch of avalon chips and get someone to assemble a miner for me ^^

1. Sell promise of ASIC miner to morons, collecting millions in capital
2. Build 1000 ASIC miners with customer capital
3. Send 1 ASIC miner to newspaper to show they have made something, to further convince morons to send more money
4. Connect the rest of the ASIC miners to bitcoin network
5. Start mining
6. Profit!
Repeat to step 3

This is the business model of Butteryfly Labs

This was my first guess at what was/is going on, its so blatantly obvious.
makes no sense for them to ship right now when they can hash, then ship later.
they would be losing money by actually shipping now.

if you`ve been sitting there a full year, then yes... you may actually get a jelly out of em (by going mad) but as for anything else....
good  ****ing luck.

Nah, it isn't the smart thing. The smart thing to do is to ship, making people wallop your account full like crazy and at the same time keeping your percentage of the network at the same level.

This is how I would do it and how I would advertise it. Basically I would say "For every three miners shipped, we take on into operation on our own."

I don't think it's a scam, just a poorly executed business. Unlike most bitcoin scams BFL actually sold a physical product for USD. There is no anonymity here, no bitcoin transactions, much harder to walk away from without consequences.

Very interesting.  Maybe competition will help them get orders out the door...

They already have the money (remember: customers had to pay fully upfront). There's no pressure on them to ever deliver.

They don't HAVE anything FFS... They just like pulling in the "image" they do and keep taking "pre-orders" to see how much money they can rack up before they run...

Common sense here. Too many red flags. Someone should just report the dude and have him get sent back to prison. Would be lulzy.

BFL recently demanded everyone who ordered before the prices went up 'confirm' or their orders would be cancelled. This was sent by email, and easily missed.

Re-ordering after cancellation puts you to the back of the queue - and you pay the new higher price. Shady as you like.

(Had a few email conversations with BFL, VERY illuminating. We won't be buying anything from them. Ever.)
