Some are envisaging that there are some coins that have the tendency and prospects to reach and overtake the value of bitcoin, but for now, none of the coins is showing that sign of getting close to achieving such fit. Bitcoin has been the leading coin since inception of blockchain technology and cryptocurrency. As a matter of fact, no matter how bitcoin falls, it is still the most widely demanded and used coin among others, which will make it difficult for any altcoin to overtake it.

A lot of altcoin is created, and there is a mission of replacing bitcoin. But all of them are now gone because they realize that no altcoin can replace bitcoin. Many people think that in the future ETH can replace bitcoin but I feel it will never happen, whether short term or long term.

I think what we mostly forget to appreciate is the fact that no one can accurately predict the future. Just like when btc started and many thought it would die off, so may an altcoin take us all by surprise. However, I don't think it may happen anytime soon because btc seems to control the price of all altcoin.

I don't think so. BTC is the boss of all crypto. You cannot think of Blockchain or choto without BTC. So i think it is impossible for any other coin to overtake BTC.

I don't think that's possible... Bitcoin is now the undisputed leader... He this year in drawdown and all altcoins sank much stronger.. bitcoin will go up and all altcoins up. Bitcoin dictates the behavior of the entire market...

I don't think there is an altcoin that will be able to compete with bitcoin prices in the near future, because I think bitcoin is the main axis of the cryptocurrency price movement in the world, so all altoin prices are also affected by the price of bitcoin.

I think we will see many more ups of the Altkoins, the volatility of which will reach the stunning heights!)

Well this is crypto and anything can happen at any time but from my own point of view, I don't see any altcoin competing with bitcoin right now and the possibility of this even happening in the future is very slim. The degree of bitcoin dominance is evrn more than half of the market.

Crypto currency is a complex speculative instrument and involves significant risks - they are extremely volatile and sensitive to the influence of side effects.
Yes, and where is you answer to the question? Or do you think that your post is helpful? This everybody knows. And maybe that is why many traders trade crypto due to its high volatility - quick profit or quick loss.

Change is one thing we can not predict it could take us by surprise that any other altcoin can take over bitcoin but at same time it could only overtake for a period of time and bitcoin could bounce back and also overtake but watch and see what will be the fate of bitcoin and altcoin

It depends on what you mean by overtake, check the coinmarketcap and you will see that there are certain altcoins already higher than bitcoin in price, However, for the number of the coins already listed on usually have higher supply which will make it difficult to equal btc in price, as it stands the only coins that have the higher chance are those will less than 8M circulating price and this is not happening any soon, BTC is still the king

Already many times different tokens predicted that they would be the killer Bitcoin, but this did not happen, it is possible somewhere in another galaxy or in the parallel universe, and it is possible, but not with us. Bitcoin forever.

I think that altcoyin can not become equal to bitcoin. This is very doubtful, and I do not think that there are any prerequisites for this.

This for sure won't be happening in the next couple of years. At the moment btc is the only cryptocurrency you find present in every crypto platform and the only gate way most time to fiat. Most people only know btc its dominance drives the market

maybe in the next few years, there is one altcoin that can take over the position of bitcoin, namely ethereum. because if you look at ethereum's development it is clear that the longer the eth volume is getting closer to the btc volume, and now it is supported by the many new altcoins that work with eth and use eth blockchain technology, maybe that's the reason why eth can take over the btc position it has been at the top of the market rankings for several years.

No. Not ever. Bitcoin will always be The Alpha Coin. New cryptocurrency investors who doesn’t need complications of the techie stuff prefer only bitcoins.

It's almost 8 months of 2018 and we have not seen any reasonable hikes for the altcoins,
It was only Ethereum that hit a good value of almost 1.4k$ in the beginning of the year . Since then it's pretty dull.

Forget overtaking can any ALTCOIN ever reach a value near Bitcoin.
There can be an altcoin that can reach more value than bitcoin if it is in a pretty less supply than bitcoin and its Miners collaborate to sell it above the price per bitcoin, there have been a few times when an altcoin was higher than bitcoin due to their rarity but currently I am not able to remember their names if I come to know then I'll definitely update this post. But from the top 10 or top 50 coins I don't believe anyone of them can pass the price of bitcoin.

In my personal opinion I think it’s quite tough to overtake btc by any other alt coins. But yes there is chance to overtake if other alt coins become more secure and same time offer large scalability than btc.
