Considering how many Bitcoin believers (maximalists) there are, with their specific beliefs of how cryptocurrency should behave, it's becoming more evident that Bitcoin is a religion. After all, this popular movement of decentralized finance has impacted our lives one way or the other. The world has its eyes on the direction of Bitcoin as a digital currency which determines the path forward of Blockchain technology.

According to Google, the term "Religion" means the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods. This becomes true especially when many Bitcoin followers believe that Satoshi is some sort of "god". Hence, if Satoshi would reveal himself to the public, many people will follow him.

Nonetheless, what are your thoughts about this? Huh
It is a hypocrite thoughts. If you are talking to bitcoin, it only refers in economy. Maybe, we can refer it only as a means of payment but we should make it as our God. Actually, when Spaniards conquered the world, they have 3 goals or 3G's. And gold is differ from God. Imagine, even before they have already segregation of God in Gold. And I knew that it is just like the current scenario for bitcoin.

Bitcoin should not be considered a religion because the stock also has many investors, but it is still not considered a religion. Bitcoin is like a small community where the set is investing in choosing Bitcoin as the preferred investment option. The community will be where you find people who share ideas and support Bitcoin.

I understand that we have our own individual beliefs but for me it is a big no, Bitcoin is only a technology that created by human and it is very amazing creation considering that people can benefits on this but it can never ever considered as a religion. Religion is a spiritual relationship with human and god.

Anything can be worshipped by people who strongly believed it is superior to him or anything miraculously related. So the answer is yes. But if its bitcoin then it's insanity just like how first people worshipped stones and some artifacts. But it's nothing to be shocked of because there are a lot of them that you can see in the internet.

still happens. just check apple fanboism, many people wrote about this already. after jobs elon musk is the new pope of capital for many.

their followers don't need to recognize it as religious but they act the same way.

They're now even worshiping the "Spaghetti Monster"

nah.. Spaghetti Monster is a satire.

I believe that if people start worshiping Bitcoin, then they will certainly idolize Satoshi in many ways (once his identity is discovered, of course). Knowing that Bitcoin's creator is a mystery and a pure genious, should be more than enough for some people to follow it as a "god".

they do Smiley well some people see more as a political position, some have a realistic relationship with crypto. but some are really crazy and worship the coin, the devs, they hate the other coins... Tongue please, don't cross the line, folks.

I really do not think that enthusiasm can be equated to worship. What we have today is not really the worship of crypto but simply acceptance of a new technology

Exactly. The same way people are now worshiping Cannabis (see the Church of Cannabis on Google), the same way they can do so with Bitcoin. Of course, this may sound crazy but the fact is that people tend to worship different things in life. They're now even worshiping the "Spaghetti Monster" when "Spaghetti" is something edible (unlike Bitcoin).

Bitcoin unites us as a brotherhood, in the same way as any religion known today. We as followers of Satoshi and Bitcoin, believe that crypto is meant to be decentralized and censorship-resistant. Anything outside this scope, would be considered an aberration.

Nonetheless, it depends on an individual's views whenever he/she considers Bitcoin as a religion or not. The most important thing is that, Bitcoin keeps us united as a community of crypto enthusiasts worldwide with the ideal of becoming "liberated" from the current corrupt financial system (which involves Fiat currency backed by governments and Banks worldwide). Hence, Satoshi's Vision will carry on for many generations. Just my opinion Smiley

No a big No.religion is about organization who belive  in God. And bitcoin is a kind of money we always used for life.
Religion teach us to belueve in God to be q better person, teach us to do good in our fellowmen.while bitcoin they can never teach us about serving God.

You are completely right.
Religion is related to spirituality and faith in God while for bitcoin we could say that it is related to faith in money and wealth.
Religion and Bitcoin are 2 completely different things and although we can believe in both it is not the same thing to believe in something spiritual or something material.
By faith in religion, we gain spiritual values and through faith in btcoin we hope to get something material.

No, of course, it can't be a considered as a religion.

I mean is there a usd or fiat religion? Not everything people believe in would happen to become a religion.

That is so much love for bitcoin if people will consider it as a religion, they are out of their mind if they think that way.
Bitcoin is just digital money or crypto money, nothing special to it as without people it has no value, but religion is a growth of people who believe there is God who created them, bitcoin is not a creator, satoshi created it.

Appropriate to say, that crypto are religion and their God is satoshi.  Grin

We might say that we do follow satoshi due to his innovative invention but we wont really come to a point on where we do already treat its as a religion. Its a different story comparing between religion and simply a community that do support Bitcoin.Theres no divine intervention on this matter so I don't see any relation at all.

In the strictest sense of the word, bitcoin or being a part of the world of cryptocurrency can never be considered or be compared to that of following a deity or a God. Yes, of course, there can be some similarities of expression of human emotions like fanaticism, loyalty, positivism, joyfulness but those are not exclusively expressed on to something but generally on anything in our human experiences. Nobody is treating bitcoin as a god even if there are certainly many people who seems to be guided by money all their lives.

I think that is a wrong perception. We want earn more bitcoin because it is money. Sathosi don't have any super power that can control the world, he just a bitcoin creator. The stronggest asset that have growing value is gold. Who create the gold? That is the only one God. Bitcoin is not a religion but it is a currency which unite many people in different country here.

Very well said, some people are having wrong perception about bitcoin to the point they wanted to relate it to become a religion. Satoshi is a human who was able to create a currency that helped many people but he is nothing compared to god thus bitcoin cannot be considered a religion.

It will be very Absurd for anyone to consider btc as a religion, that will be a very bad idea to even think it let alone put it into practice, it is okey to find the technology fascinating and intriguing but taking it up as a religion is unnecessarily, the world is full of different individuals with different ideas and views so you never know, i won't rule out the possibility because people do weird stuff all the time.

This topic is shit. Bitcoin is just a digital asset and not something you need to praise for. It is also ironic to combine technology and religion. Me as an intellect will be more into technology rather than stupid religions that all going to do is to praise a fictional character from a book made from centuries ago.

This is as ridiculous as saying that the Euro or the USD can be considered as a religion. Users who are in favor of crypto-currency can be classified as having a unique political ideology. IMO, most of the Bitcoin users are Libertarian as far as their political leaning is considered. But in this case the political ideology does not have any links with any religious group.

This topic sounds just too ridiculous to me, but hey, you never know with humans, they are full of surprise i tell you Grin i won't be surprise to see some people already see Mr Satoshi as a being worthy of worship, lol! people are so easily manipulated just like btc or those who hodls shit load of btc can manipulate the market to suit their personal interest,

Why would any sane person want to see btc as a religion? i mean if there are actually such people around, what do they do? buy some btc and put it in their wallet and then print out the details in a sheet of white paper, place it in a corner of their room or wherever and sing some praise song? Grin  Ridiculous!

@OP hope you are not getting any funny ideas because that is a waste of time and very ridiculous act Grin btc is meant to be traded not to be taken as a religion Lips sealed

Bitcoin is technology not a religion and has not similarities whatsoever with it.
Science and technology can become a religion

When you talk about algorithms, you are talking about mathematics.
Mathematics has a very close relation with philosophy
for centuries, mathematicians were at the same time philosophers
until the last century, as good as each major logician was a philosopher,
phylosophy has a very close relation with religion

Religion is not about following someone or something but it's about belief, worship and similar. Bitcoin is technology not a religion and has not similarities whatsoever with it. According to that logic Satoshi supposed to be god or what? It's really funny to compare Bitcoin with religion and I don't know how anyone even comes to such idea.
Yes, religion is a belief that has existed since we were born who was convinced to determine us in the next world.
bitcoin is just an advance in digital technology that can help our lives better, especially in the fields of finance or economics.
I do not agree if bitcoin is treated as a religion that must be worshiped and that is the same as Mushrik and is strictly forbidden by my religion.
