Bitcoin is a virtual coin, and in my opinion should never be consider as a Religion, i know a lot of people use it and think like a good option or maybe pray to get more coins, but should not be confused with Religion.

Anything can be considered a religion. To do this, just enough of your faith and the faith of others in the subject that you will worship. It can be bitcoin or a teddy bear. Already there are many religious sects and cults that worship all garbage. The question is whether in the 21st century, in the heyday of technical progress, is it necessary to create any religious cults? It smells like an anachronism. It is better to just enjoy all the benefits that progress gives us and create new ones.

I understand your viewpoint. However, religious people will certainly blame you and the guy who asked if BTC could be considered something like a religion. As for me, Bitcoin can become an addiction for some people.

Considering how many Bitcoin believers (maximalists) there are, with their specific beliefs of how cryptocurrency should behave, it's becoming more evident that Bitcoin is a religion. After all, this popular movement of decentralized finance has impacted our lives one way or the other. The world has its eyes on the direction of Bitcoin as a digital currency which determines the path forward of Blockchain technology.

According to Google, the term "Religion" means the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods. This becomes true especially when many Bitcoin followers believe that Satoshi is some sort of "god". Hence, if Satoshi would reveal himself to the public, many people will follow him.

Nonetheless, what are your thoughts about this? Huh
First of all, I don't want to create a debate about this matter. I just feel to give my "two cents" for this topic. Blockchain and Cryptocurrency is a great discovery and invention but I don't think we should worship him as "god". We believe in Cryptocurrency but not to the extent that we will be create a religion and make Satoshi Nakamoto a "god". There are great inventions also and great inventors who are known, why we don't consider them a sort of "god"? One answer will be appropriate I think. It is because we already know that it will not be appropriate and would be an insult to our One and Only True God.

Religion composed with God,or someone who been on top so this means Satoshi Nakamoto is the God and bitcoin is the religion?lol never had been thought of this

I think bitcoin can be considered as provider but not a religion because this gives us opportunity to profit while in religion we are spending since we are obliged to give thighs or contributions

I think that faith and religion are not the same.
We can have faith in bitcoin, love, sport club etc. but religion is different.
Religion is connected with spirituality, holy boolsm, doctrine about salvation etc.
From this viewpoint bitcoin  is not religion but we can have faith in btc Smiley

If you consider belief as religion then you really hit the point but the main problem is whether the other crypto believers really consider it as religion?
It will depend on how you define religion by yourself, as in my part I am only a crypto believer who really support the continuous grow of crypto currency.

And to my definition of religion, my belief in crypto currencies are too far to compare it as religion. Though the crypto community is keep on evolving but it doesn't mean that we are a religion already. And I didn't consider Satoshi as "God" even if he/she was the creator of bitcoin.

your perception is wrong, Bitcoin today, turned into a primary need, the BTC community is not a religion, but the popularity of BTC today is very high.  and the world's enthusiasm for crypto is huge.  we don't worship BTC.  we only use BTC as a primary need to fulfill our daily needs.

Yes, it is just a asset that is backed by technology which can be viewed and can't be felt physically. Now if we relate it to religion automatically after few years time people will start worshiping it as a God as it has got some similarities of just can be viewed and one cannot touch and feel. Also religious fight too can explode in the name of bitcoin. One need to be so clear that it is just an asset that has got multiple usage.

Well, no one knows who Satoshi is (which fits your description quite nicely). He/she can't be viewed or felt physically. Given how brilliant the inventor of Bitcoin is, there's no doubt that many people will follow him/her if he/she reveals himself/herself to the public. Sure, Bitcoin is good for making profits and using it as an alternative store of value like Gold. But, there's something more to it than meets the eye.

The inception of Bitcoin has changed our lives one way to the other. The years that have passed since then, has made us stronger as a community. There are many Bitcoin evangelists out there, spreading the word about this exciting revolution of money. Which, in some sense, Bitcoin could be considered as a religion (in my opinion).

Nonetheless, religion or not, Bitcoin surely had an impact in our lives in many ways. Hence, if Bitcoin didn't emerge back in 2009, we wouldn't have been independent from traditional Fiat as we are nowadays. Wink

It’s very obvious that Bitcoin supporters created a strong community and they somehow always give their support on Bitcoin. But still, considering Btc as a religion would be very stupid. These two are totally different things.
Agree, bitcoin has created a very strong community and has attracted a lot of fans over the years through the actions and profits it brings but everything should stop at a good investment, should not continue to consider it as a religion. Because this is a very inappropriate definition when religion refers to a supernatural force, a spiritual element, a symbol of the spirit, and bitcoin really can't reach that level, it lacks so many things, a little profit and thinks it's religious, it's really funny.

What nonsense?  What is the religion, the maximum why it can be called religion is because everyone who is here does not believe in God, but has a cryptocurrency.  Because I think that this is the economy and not a religion.
Certainly it cannot be equated with a religion that is believed to be that which is related to God, because bitcoin is a digital currency that is 100% business, which is related to profit or loss.
From these thoughts it is clear to see bitcoin from the business side, which can be a profitable profession if it gets more profit, but it can also be a side business if investment is done with ease and long-term HODL. The main goal is profit.

I  think the title of this thread is not very smart. Religion has nothing to do with cryptography / finance.

Very difficult. Some of the religious figures claim that bitcoins are banned, some more are allowed. We just need our own conscience how to deal with current Bitcoin adoption.

People sometimes tend to worship things without even knowing about it, Look at the fans of celebrities and sports teams who sometimes cry, refuse to eat and in some cases commit suicide when their teams lose a crucial match. I think in recent times, Bitcoin has followers like these celebs and sports teams.
Good point, there's followers who's blindly followed even without knowing anything, they've just a believers that wanted to continue idolizing things even without exact knowledge, bitcoin can be part of that society and those who are fully engaged might created inside minds that worshiping bitcoin is something like worshiping their idols.
Bitcoin i think is just a crypto coin which has a lot of potentials that will make a person generates profit from it but it's not enough to worship bitcoin just like gods or saints. It's totally different from what they say a religion.People just believe it for profit making alone and not because it might be a big help for people's survival.I believe there are still a lot of people out there who does not know bitcoin in the first place neither its own function.

You can't rule out anything. There are new religious movements in every nook and corner of the world, which worship certain individuals as re-incarnations of god. For example, Jim Jones claimed that he was the reincarnation of Jesus Christ and he had tens of thousands of followers. So I can't rule out a possibility in which someone in the near future creates a new religious sect with Satoshi as the god.

Exactly. This same situation happened with cannabis though, as now there a Church of Cannabis see here. Imagine, if someone came up with a "Bitcoin Church" and proclaimed that Satoshi was some sort of a "god". It sounds crazy, but it's widely possible these days. After all, in the US, there's freedom of worship. Which means, that anyone can worship anything and create a religion out of it.

Nonetheless, many people nowadays (including me) are curious to know who Satoshi is. If his/her/their identity gets revealed, I believe that many will follow him because of his "glorious" creation (which is Bitcoin and the Blockchain). And once that happens, we might see Bitcoin Churches appearing at different regions of the world. Just my thoughts Roll Eyes

I was surprise to read your thread, why you are using Religion word for bitcoin?
I have spend nearly 4 years in bitcoin field, but i never heard to anyone who said that bitcoin is religion, only you are one who using this word for bitcoin. Hundred times, we use it that bitcoin is currency and it has no physical appearance, so just use it and try to earn profit from it.
