I don't think that it is possible to control the volatility of bitcoin because it is affected by the demand of investors (volume of people investing on bitcoin)

Bitcoin can't controlled with any sector, it's decentralized. We see that the price is going pump and dump. They says many people know the value of this bitcoin with volatility price.
Yeah I know the decentralized bitcoin. but what about users who have very large capital and much bitcoin in their bankroll. and you know that bitcoin users are very easy to panic with speculation and issues. maybe my opinion fluctuations could have been in control but the result does not guarantee according to their expectations

So there isn't how to control volatility, we must deal with this on Crypto-Currency world, it's the nature of a decentralized currency and I think it's good as it is. Who are unable to take the risk can use centralized currencies, the stable ones, and at same time, unprofitable ones. People complain about volatility, but complain about stable currencies too (fiat)... However, there are few AltCoins that follow fiat price, so they are very stable.

I have read some posts and some concerns that it is the volatility of Bitcoin that is preventing many people and many businesses to fully adopt Bitcoin. This can be the main factor why big online shopping stores are not yet adding Bitcoin into their payment facilities (though there is now a circulated petition for this but I doubt if it can make a dent).

Some are really saying that if volatility can be managed then we can see Bitcoin going mainstream. I am wondering then: Is volatility something that we should find a way to control and how do you think it can be done?

The volatile of bitcoin can not be controlled as i know. If being controlled it will make people can not do trading bitcoin anymore.
If we make sure controll it and make bitcoin is accepted as payment in any shop onlinenor offline and of course will be another effect appear like no more trading.

we cant control the volatility of bitcoin since it is decentralized, unlike fiat, it cant controlled by the government. bitcoin's volatility is based on the people that demand and the supply it gets, and we cant control these people. if we cant control the demand, then we cant control the price and the volatility of it.
That is the correct point here. We need to control the demand in order to control the volatility and that is why it is very hard for other people to control the price of bitcoin because they can't control the demand. There is no possibility for bitcoin to be controlled on its volatility because of its being a decentralized currency.
The reason why bitcoin get high volatility is that many people lack understanding of the technology behind bitcoin, so they get FUD easily. I believe when bitcoin has become well-understood financial assets the price will stabilize. good things is bitcoin volatility decrease every year and at 2016 bitcoin almost as volatile as oil.
That is one of the reasons why Bitcoin is volatile but it is not the main reason why. Yes it is given that many people still lack knowledge about Bitcoin and it is decentralized but one of the main reason why is it volatile is it is being used for profit taking many traders especially the big ones are using their capital to influence the prices where they can sell high and buy low which also the market will follow and create a really big price change.
Well, its same applies to the forex market, all the traders taking profit even in a larger amount, but the volatility doesn't exist in those market because the forex market has been trusted and proved to sustainable for a long time. Its different with bitcoin, it's a new revolutionary financial asset that is in an early stage, and many people still don't trust it because of lack of understanding. And its exactly what is my point the volatility of bitcoin will decrease when many people already well-understood bitcoin as financial assets.

It can be controlled by some regulator (smth like part of World Bank). These regulator can control the currency rates, that will make it more stable.

For now the volatility of bitcoin is uncontrollable due to the fact that there are few holders but can only be controlled by wider adoption by the people, as the numbers of people buying and holding it increases the volume also increases hence price stability will be attained at equilibrium.

Price volatility should be strictly controlled, friends earning money with this method can make the same profit from other coins, but price swing is the biggest obstacle to Bitcoin's payment method.
We are in control of the price and that is what makes it totally different. I cannot force anyone to decide to sell at the price he or she wants to sell if he decides to want to sell below the normal market price and that is what decentralization totally is all about.

If you are happy with the way government have been controlling fiats and the whole idea of centralization, you may just either stick to fiat, buy some USDT as well, and may be hold some XRP but as far as decentralization is, volatility cannot be controlled.

It is impossible to control the bitcoin volatility. It is the normal feature. from the very beginning it is al;ready its feature because of its demand status. This volatility is the effect of the ups and down of demand by the users and investors.
First, we need to understand that bitcoin is completely different from fiat currency, bitcoin is a decentralized currency, so no one or authority cannot control the fluctuation of the price of bitcoin, it is more volatile because of the kind of nature bitcoin is possessing.

I think that bitcoin value can never be controlled. It is the distinct characteristic of bitcoins, its volatility. Its like forex rates that the price are unpredictable.
The main reason behind the profit of bitcoin is its volatility and if it get controlled then most of user will withdraw their money and will see toward any other investment so need of time is to continue the flow as it is and those who are talking about the controlling the volatility they are unaware of the fact that profit will be limited and prices will also be in stable value so for me controlling volatility is bad option.

Well who'd want to change one of the factors that makes btc so valuable and in demand? The inconsistent movement of thr price is what makes investors see bitcoin as a good investment prospect. Volatility is good for cryptocurrencies

Bitcoins supply is centralised and restricted. But its demand is unending. That is why bitcoin is becoming more and more volatile. Currencies like gold, crude, USD are controlled by the centralised authorities. Bitcoin is a decentralised currency it is controlled purely by its buyers and suppliers. Bitcoin popularity is still limited; it has not reached to all class of society. Even Malls and Chain business have not started its acceptance. Bitcoin volatility can get controlled, only when more and more people starts using it. Bitcoin is still young currency, it will take time to get settled.

For me, I think no, we cannot controlled bitcoin by its volatility because no ones person behind this cryptocurrency it rise the volume by helping other coins. I think bitcoin now is an stable situation it serves many transactions to the users. The decentralization of this makes more stronger coins and not controlled by any one.. And as of now it would be very difficult to manage the volatility of bitcoin because the limit of 21 million has not been reached yet. On top of that this is an unregulated currency which makes it even more difficult to manage the volatility because anyone can just buy a huge quantity and then sell all at once to drop the price. So tight regulations may help control the volatility ...

maybe in the future, when everyone will know about bitcoin and take their decision on it - volatility will decrease, but so far it is so popular the volatility will be high

Volatility doesn't only corresponds on those people who do panic sell when theres a FUD which it do simply being traded by the community and the demand do rise up high. Its just a matter of profit taking and being traded why its price is too volatile but yes, panics would really cause such movements but talking on manipulating price movements I would say even a whale cant able to do such thing knowing that marketcap of bitcoin is already too big and coins are being distributed.

Large institutions, governments and major economic actors are not inclined to see the bitcoin grow... just because it does not serve their own interests.

Through bitcoin, you cannot hide your transactions anymore. Evrything is written and can be followed. And as it is "written" (coded) by many at the same time, you cannot buy/threat the actors so that your operation disappears. And this, is not compatible with they way they operate.

The question of volatility is a fake problem. They do not care about volatility, they even play on t. I mean, we have seen the effects of the subprime crisis and today, banking by-products are worse than ever, trading is made at crazy rates with any products... Volatility is their main business.

But bitcoin cannot be as what has been made cannot be hidden or deleted.
