Eth and btc have different exchange rates, if eth wants to be like btc with the price is quite expensive, it will take a long time, as time goes by.
ETH is not BTC that is not the same and this should be thinkable.. 
yes it is possible that the ethereum can match the btc but not all points of view can be accepted I can match the price but not the purpose of the coin the bitcoin was made for currency payment and the ethereum was made of smart contract in this way I can say that they are different but it can match the ethereum as the price of the bitcoin
in different points of view it can surpassed it . we should know that there is no point when comparing to these two coins because there are different when it comes to purpose the bitcoin was purposely made for payment/currency payment and the ethereum was purposely made for smart contracts
I think it will match in future but today it is not possible because bitcoin is very very volatile money than etherum and its value raise every day but not as bitcoin if people use etherum more than bitcoin it will match but now it is probably not possible so in future it can match bitcoin.

Bitcoins price is way too far compared to ethereum and their journey are on the different ways the bitcoins are bitcoins the mother of all cryptocurrency while ethereum is just an alternative coins or altcoins. But they have the same potential as bitcoins before we cannot say maybe someday their value might be as expensive as bitcoins today. But when that day comes I'm sure that bitcoins will be too far ahead from them because bitcoins are the pioneer and the most reliable digital currency and besides altcoins names are ruined by those shitcoins that are spreading in the entire cryptocurrency.
I really doubt ETH will catch up to Bitcoin. Bitcoin was the first, and is the banner coin of crypto.

Bitcoin as the mother of crypto and we must never feel doubt about that. the only competitor to the bitcoin is only ethereum. or ethereum can be consiudered as the silver right now after the bitcoin itself. This two altcoins have owned characteristic but in terms of price we all know that ethereum is much higher compared to bitcoin cash "for now" but we never know when bitcoin cash was starting to trust by the other users. If it is happened I'm sure that one day bitcoin cash was surpass the ability of ethereum, moreover this coins have ability to survive even their supporters are not enough it was due to good support given by the developers of this altcoin.

Most probably never. For one reason BTC is capped and the other is not. For another and probably more importantly bitcoin has had several years of first mover advantage and this is really tough to undue. Either Ethereum
must have insane breakthrough never seen before or BTC must bust in a major way, neither of which I envision happening.
Is it possible that in the future they cut the limit of supply of Ethereum? Somehow, can they stop the mining?
Indeed ETH is still seen as the most powerful and highest value from other altcoins, but I think the highest ETH price can't match the value of BTC. BTC is still the strongest above all altcoins, and its value will continue the highest value until whenever I guess, because after all BTC is different from all altcoins.

What, you mean can ETH ever be the same value as bitcoin? Or in terms of market cap?
I think that both of these are going to be long shots for ETH. People have been hyping about this for a while, the fact that ETH may be able to take over BTC as the #1 coin. But personally i just don't see it ever happening.
Best it can do is be a solid #2 guy. Bitcoin was here first, it has the most trust out of everyone and that's all it matters.

Ethereum platform and ether is definitely a formidable coin for bitcoin. Ethereum is doing all that bitcoin is doing and more. I forsee ethereum rally right after this bitcoin rally and future fork.
When it comes into volatility effect, bitcoin is very vulnerable to have that compared to ETH. As we can see, if bitcoin will goes up ETH will fall in contrary. The power of ETH is just a fart of BTC. That is the first thing that you need to know in the world of cryptocurrencies. ETH is no match to BTC. Perhaps, to be objective about your question, ETH can match BTC in terms of smart contracts because BTC does not have it. ETH is proud of the so many coins and tokens out there that are based on their blockchain. That is something they should be proud of. But overall, it is far far down below bitcoin.
For me ETH can't surpass Bitcoin. ETH created by bitcoin ideas it's like Bitcoin is the father and ETH is the son, bitcoin taught everything to ETH and eth is just a mere copy of bitcoin, but maybe someday it will happen that ETH can surpass Bitcoin i mean no one can predict the future so everything is possible. Just remember That bitcoin is genuine and ETH is innovation and Genuine will always be on top for me.
