Are you talking about the price? If the price or value of the coin is the concerned, I don't think eth can match btc. BTC already stands for many years, its really hard to match that. Also, I think the two coins are made for different purposes. BTC as mainly digital currency while ETH are mostly used in exchanges and contracts. So they have different uses so its really hard to compare.

Another difference between these currencies that stands out above all, is the amount of coins in each of them. On the part of Bitcoin, the maximum limit that will be generated are 21 million coins, while in the case of Ethereum there is no such limit. This causes that in the case of the first one is a deflationary system, each time a unit should have more value, while the second one is inflationary, the more units they generate, the lower their value. This section, the one of creating a deflationary or inflationary system, would give to reflect and for each type of users could be better one.

Dont compare bitcoin to Eth and vice versa. Many are into bitcoin and many are into smart contracts but with my choice, I'll go with bitcoin. There might be some dramas about the forks but still it will endure and in the end there will be only one coin that we will be supporting soon.

No they cannot compare they are completly diffrent

Here:

Quote
Ethereum is a blockchain that allows smart contracts and the building of decentralized applications upon it’s blockchain.
Quote
Bitcoin on the other hand, is a peer to peer technology and to be used as a form of digital currency. Sort of like a paper note just that it is being stored in a ‘Hot’ wallet or Hardware wallet on your phone or on a device.

you see the diffrence?

Right. Bitcoin is a store of value and Ethereum is a medium of exchange. Which means value will flow in and out of Ethereum all the time. But then why did Ethereum get from a dollar to 300 dollar?

Can ETH match BTC? On market cap? Probably. On price? Unlikely, but theoretically possible.

The thing though is, there's no point comparing the two. Bitcoin and Ethereum are made for two different purposes. Bitcoin as a digital currency/payment system, whereas Ethereum was made for smart contracts.
i agree it ,,, btc and eth are made for different purposes ,,, the obvious bitcoin remains as the key coin ,,,

Every time BTC goes up, ETH goes down. To BTC or not to BTC.

Also people don't understand the fucking rarity of Bitcoin. There's SO FEW bitcoin out there while Ethereum has an infinite supply.

Etehreum has a slightly different economic model than Bitcoin-Bitcoin block rewards have every 4 years while Ethereum releases the same amount of Ether each year ad infinitum.

Ethereum platform and ether is definitely a formidable coin for bitcoin. Ethereum is doing all that bitcoin is doing and more. I forsee ethereum rally right after this bitcoin rally and future fork.
When it comes into volatility effect, bitcoin is very vulnerable to have that compared to ETH. As we can see, if bitcoin will goes up ETH will fall in contrary. Any possibilities that ETH will compete bitcoin is just very little because we all know that since from their existence  they are far from each other until today.

When we say match meaning in value, that is less likely. For one, bitcoin is way to high now and its increase in value is quite constant except for some little fluctuations every now and then. Moreover, they both represent different technologies and in terms of projects, they are of different paths which makes them incomparable. They both have potential and are great in their respective areas.

Unit price wise, BTC will be ahead. However, ETH price growth may be more for a few years until all BTC are mined, at which point it would be difficult for ETH to compete with BTC.
I share your opinion dude. Bitcoin has literally created the crypto world and has, is and always will stay the king of the crypto world no matter what. I strongly believe this, but I am definitely not saying ethereum is a bad investment or anything. Their blockchain feature and smart contracts feature are revolutionary and has paved the path for the introduction of many kinds of altcoins excluding scams with real life use cases. It will never catch up to bitcoin though since bitcoin's supply and demand logic works against it.

Exactly! Ether is a good medium for smart contracts but as a store of value, bitcoin has no parallel. However. I am really scared right now, as bitcoin has appreciated at a very unnatural pace and may crash soon and hard. Lets just hope that doesn't happen.

I think that Eth has the potential to grow even more in terms of market capitalization. In terms of it's price - highly unlikely. It has an unlimited supply which mean constant devaluation due to more and more being issued.

Yes ETH has the potential to grow but bitcoin is also increasing so for eth getting to 7k will take a long time. While bitcoin is now at 7.3k it will go higher.

It would really take a long time for ETH to keep up with the fathers of coin Bitcoin.

I think the top price that can ETH go is $1000. I don't think it can really reach what bitcoin has already been doing. Bitcoin price is so high that all investors are pouring their cash on it. But I don't expect that to happened in ETH. But maybe it can go to the moon but it will take a lot of years for it. When ETH reaches $1000, maybe bitcoin is like $100000 by that time. ETH is really a good coin however, everyone is really out to make good money and don't like what the project is behind.

i think ethereum price in the can possibly defeat bitcoin but that will take a very long time, because now the distance between bitcoin and ethereum is very big due to many forks on bitcoin recently but eth has more potential to develope in future than bitcoin so, may be oneday eth will have a chance to against bitcoin.

I couldn't agree more, bitcoin's just been present for a long time and it's been increasing in value ever since, while eth is so much younger than bitcoin so no matter how popular eth gets, it will never beat bitcoin nor match it because bitcoin is the father of crypto and it will always be on top.

No ETH not match BTC.beacause they have their own blockchain.and the price difference betwwen ETH and BTC are too much.they both are cryptocurrency but difference through their nods and blockchains and price.the btc is the king of cryptoworld and it has very large history.but i think in future the price difference between BTC and ETH become very less.you can also call eth as the shadow of btc.

In my own opinion ethereum can't match the bitcoin in terms of price because bitcoin is only limited to 21 million coins so, the price will inflate due limited supply unlike the ethereum has unlimited supply so, over time the value will decrease constantly as more ether issued but in terms of market cap ether can overtake bitcoin due to the same reason but according to coinmarketcap.com bitcoin's dominance is 61%, 15% higher than May 2017 dominance which is 46% which means more people are investing to bitcoin. for now would say bitcoin is still no.1
they can match but unfortunately not so totally because we know and see just like what you said and observe for the price , value and how we see in the coinmarket the bitcoin is would still the number 1 and most influencial coin that is exist in crypto currency. eth is one of the best too but eth has its own way to be number one too.

Not in a long time thought the 2 differs . Bitcoin is actually created as a digital currency while ethereum is created as a platform that relates to records of transactions used in smart contracts. They are both good coins but bitcoin is the king.
