I also think that it is impossible for Ethereum to overtake Bitcoin. Ethereum is just used for ICO and for gas. We can't use it to buy other things.
And there is too much coins compare to Bitcoin.

ICO provide a huge buying preassure witch is pretty good to add market cap value (and with mining too).

Until Ethereum becomes available just about everywhere with the ability to purchase with FIAT, it can't ever come close. Bitcoin is the king because you NEED to use it to buy just every other Crypto. On top of that it has a long and proven history (which is currently being damaged) as well as many loyal supporters, most of which are the old dogs of crypto.

But does Ethereum really have the potential to overtake Bitcoin?
If I'll say that Ethereum can 'potentially' over take bitcoin and I'm a bitcoin believer well I'm a bandwagon. I do trade with Ethereum for bitcoin and I can see that there's a lot of projects that are coming out with it's ERC 20. But bitcoin is the real and only one coin that will be supported in the future where everyone agrees to support only a certain coin. So I don't think that there's a potential that ETH will replace bitcoin.

Bitcoin is the king of all coins. So I think, It's impossible to Ethereum overtake bitcoin.Because bitcoin have a limite sell 21 millions.bitcoin low supply but More than customer. Moreover bitcoin enjoys Royal price 20-25 times. So I don't know One time can Ethereum overtake Bitcoin?

i am a hard fan of ETH since quite some time ago

ETH offers way too much more than what Bitcoin can do.

Payment Gateway
Smart Contracts
Not much of Fork xp

Bitcoin is more of a pioneer crypto that serve only for payment like Send/Receive

I have to agree with you as I have see ETH are the real 'deal' with you said. Just the Smart Contract alone, bitcoin will be dwarfed by this. However, since bitcoin is the pioneer and now becomes the currency for making money, ETH lose a significant value. But in terms of usage, I think ETH is the best cryptocurrency hands down. So its gonna be hard for ETH to really overtook bitcoin because its becoming an investment and store of wealth instrument.

I believe that ethereum can replace bitcoin,  it has this much potential to replace bitcoin. What we’ve seen in Ethereum is a much richer, organic developer ecosystem develop very, very quickly, which is what has driven Ethereum’s price growth, which has actually been much more aggressive than Bitcoin. The value of Bitcoin has skyrocketed more than 500% since this time last year. It currently stands at around $2,500 USD, more than ten times the value of ETH. Nevertheless, Ethereum has grown even faster, and is now worth more than 20 times its value just four months ago.Additionally, Ethereum has slowly creeped into Bitcoin’s market share, which has tumbled to nearly half its 90% stake just four months ago. In that same time frame, it has quadrupled its market share to 30%. Given current trends, it would not be surprising to see Ethereum take the lead within even a few months. No time that may be bitcoins replaced by Ethereum.

For me it (ethereum) will never overtake the bitcoin, the main reason is bitcoin the core off all cryptocurrencies in the world and you can not compare the bitcoin to the ethereum, maybe to other alt coins it will, because its price is somewhat higher than the other but back to the topic of the ethereum overtaking the bitcoin, i think it will never happen, it cannot surpass the mother of all alt coins. If you are using ethereum right now there is no problem also if you are using bitcoin because you are both investing time and money, you just have to make sure that you are on the right track so that there is no wasted effort

Although the creator of this enough stable cryptocurrency has been working hard to make ETH even more valuable, I doubt this altcoin will cost as much as BTC costs.
Bitcoin is older and has a huge team of its supporters.

Ethereum allows developers to create their own decentralised applications and use Smart Contracts for things such as asset registration, land ownership and anything else where keeping a permanent record is essential. It has tons of other uses too, the possibilities are endless. Unfortunately, Ether has already shot up in value, so the super early adopter value spike has already transpired, but with the faster block confirmation times (~10 mins vs ~20 seconds) and larger blocks, Ether allows for more transactions and more confirmations faster, and along with the added development room to grow Ether could overtake Bitcoin as the cryptocurrency of choice, while rising in value at the same time. Ethereum can quite possibly be the next big cryptocurrency.

They both serve different purposes and cannot be compared.

Bitcoin - currency, store of value whereas Ethereum - platform for applications to be developed

I believe it can have the same capitalization as BTC, but it would never surpass it. Moreover ETH can't have the same price as BTC.

It's very unlikely as people value bitcoin more than ethereum for getting more traction ether should come up with a more sound and profound use case than ICO hosting only.

I think it might be because we do not know the future of Bitcoin will decline or even rise again.
I dont think ethereum will overtake bitcoin. Bitcoin is the highest in terms of its value other than altcoins. And ofcourse the most use and more supports from the users. Though etheruem is the next yet bitcoin is still the best investment.

No altcoin can surpass bitcoin they're even having a hard time proving theor worth especially bitcoin has gained much attraction from merchants and other countries accepted it. In terms of price value and market cap with $120 billion it has far surpassed altcoin and at the same time decreasing they're price.

Exactly, Bitcoin is Powerful than altcoins, Since Most of The Countries in the World are adopting Bitcoin and some of it are shown off that Bitcoin can be use for the Progress of Economy, Even thou Bitcoin's Value Goes Down, The Price of Altcoin cannot  be Equal To Bitcoin. I have Been Into Any Other Project's Like Participating Campaign that Pays in Bitcoin that Become Successful Why? Because  Bitcoin Developers of New coin Cannot Promote Their Project Succesfully if They Pay In Alts.

Ethereum cannot Beat Bitcoin Because Bitcoin proves a lot Than Ethereum and any altcoins.

This is absurd. Ethereum already had a hard fork and it's about to implode when it switches to Proof of Stake, if it makes it that far. Look at what happened with Parity. More and more people are trusting the Ethereum network less and less and this will be the end of it soon. This is what happens with centralized money and young immature develops who think they're experienced.
