I think No, because BTC have less supply than ETH... It's harder to got a single BTC than ETH...
No eth can't never defeat bitcoin, cause bitcoin in the first cryptocurrency and its the number 1 cryptocurrency right now.
So many coins have come and gone that claimed to be superior thatn Etherium or even claimed that they would overtake the market cap or value in USD that bitcoin has. Most of them do not even exist today. So no, although eth is popular and all, but it would never be able to take over bitcoin.
That will a bit difficult caused by the ethereum is not match with the bitcoin adoption. a lot of people are familiar with the bitcoin itself and the fact that the price of bitcoin was really high and about the comparable of the marketcapitalization and it looks impossible in my opinion, but the result will depend on the growth of the public adoption for the every coin itself. You're right in some point but when people started to realize that not only Bitcoin can give them high investment profits but also other Altcoin does, they need to be educated that there are some promising altcoins that is worth more investments than Bitcoin. Ethereum perhaps the one who can overtake Bitcoin and so does altcoins.
I think Ethereum have the power to overtake btc it have the same quotation that btc's using it might somehow someday

There's a chance but it's too small. Overtaking Bitcoin will require hundreds of thousands of investors meaning, if Bitcoin's value is dropping then some investors were looking upon to some alternative coins that has potential of Bitcoin's success. I think not only Ethereum has the potential on overtaking Bitcoin, some Altcoins do as well. having a good developers and support will make an altcoin rise their values.

Ethereum is great and is the best altcoin so far but to me it's s long way from reaching the level of bitcoin
I’m more than negative about this happening honestly. This is not only true for ethereum but all coins. I’m very confident that bitcoin will always top other coins in value but that doesn’t make ethereum any less valuable of course.

Nope. We honestly do not need dApps or smart contracts. All we need right now is a functional cryptocurrency with a strong community support and lots of recognition worldwide. I don't think that it is disputed that bitcoin is the #1 crypto.
And it'll remain that way, unless Ethereum steps up their game big time. As the founder said, ETH isn't even a currency.
Bitcoin has the most potential out of every single altcoin in my opinion.
the possibilities is always there. we dont know maybe not only ethereum but some other altcoin can overtake. I remind also that bitcoin always affect the price of altcoins. since bitcoin is the mother of all digital currency

Nothing is predictable in the crypto market because I never expect that ETH will reach to 300$ but it has surpassed the value. May be it cannot able to beat the Bitcoin but it will secure significant value in the market.
There is nothing impossible in world of cryptocurrency and no one surely know what alt would prevail or die tomorrow due to price volatility. The might be chance that someday eth would overtake btc but I dont see it happen in near future.
Bitcoin will still the one on top, and I think ethereum will overtake bitcoin. It will not happen for now or in the upcoming days,months that it will overtake. Still bitcoin is the highest price than other cryptocurrency.
Nobody can have the exact answer here, but should Bitcoin take huge blows from the media and then big entities (life governments) that control a massive amount of people, then Ethereum might take over. But in my opinion this is unlikely to happen, not now, not ever. But then this is just my 2 cents worth of opinion.
It possible happen to ethereum overtake the bitcoin we don't know what is possible happen in the next day about bitcoin. But the speculation is still there I think this altcoin second place with bitcoin but not totally overtake. Bitcoin now is very popular many stablishment and companies using bitcoin across the countries. So there's no reason bitcoin behind that ethereum, both of them are good no need to choose much better you them all.
