There is nothing impossible in world of cryptocurrency and no one surely know what alt would prevail or die tomorrow due to price volatility. The might be chance that someday eth would overtake btc but I dont see it happen in near  future.

Whenever eth exits the influence of bitcoin then eth has the hope of surpassing bitcoin. Bitcoin has a price adjustment that eth is like most altcoin are strongly influenced by the increase or decrease of bitcoin

I think it's  a big no. Since bitcoin is the first crypto currency, people who knew and use it settle on that cryptocurrency and didn't want to use altcoins. Not all of us wanted to invest in crypto, some just use in for convenience. Ethereum really are a great alternative coin that has been created but it will and always will remain in the shadow of bitcoin. That's what i thought.

still dont think this is possible as both different in usage. and it will not be realistic to compare both. but ETH sure will be the leader in Alts for the upcoming future.
Ethereum is now the number one altcoin and will forever be behind the bitcoin.

Anything can happen in the cryptocurrency world and It’s certainly possible that one day Ethereum could overtake Bitcoin. The fate of Bitcoin is being heavily debated prior to the B2X hard fork, while Ethereum is quietly gaining more and more traction in the background.
At least that will take a lot of journey for ethereum to surpass the bitcoin. Rather than think about the possibility of the ethereum to surpass the bitcoin and that will better for ethereum to gain the more market dominance. it might be a best step. because we are all know about the fact the bitcoin gets the more dominance in the crypto market since the big pump.

I think Ethereum can not overtake bitcoin but it can overtake all existing altcoins simply because as of now it provides the most acceptable and valuable market exchange value.

Ethereum will never over take bitcoin because its not meant as a store of value or used as transferring money.

There is a possibility but look at how many hacks and mistakes there have been. With so many updates and changes in ethereum, the security is compromised. My bet is more on Bitcoin staying on top but Eth will be at top 10.

This is can be happen in the future because Ethereum can be bigger than Bitcoin in the future, as we know founder of ETH Vitalik Buterin is jenius, he will always looking for other new idea to development ETH platform so that more popular and more usefull for blockchain community.

I think the price of ETH will not be higher than BTC, because BTC is the core of all crypto, without exception ETH compete with other Altcoin, maybe ETH price will be higher than other Altcoin price. So do not ever expect the ETH price to exceed the BTC price as it will not be possible.

Yes, ethereum most definitely can. If they manage to scale faster and better, it might end up being the most used coin, and that would drive the price up to the point where it would become the #1 cryptocurrency in terms of market cap.

Bitcoin has the brand advantage, most of the "average joes" that have heard of it have yet to understand of even know that Ethereum exist... But it can't rely solely on this fact for the upcoming 5-10 years.

Over the past few years, Bitcoin has become the hallmark of crypto currencies, being the first popular currency as well as the most popular, and has attracted many to invest. Bitcoin has made quite a few millionaires, and has attracted the watchful eye of governments and rich entrepreneurs alike.

As bitcoin rose in value, it spurred the creation of many other cryptocurrencies, including litecoin, Dash and ZCash. However, among the thousands of alternative coins, or altcoins, none have gained as much traction as a new competitor who entered the market early 2015: Ethereum. Similar to other currencies in the sense it was probably inspired by Bitcoin, Ethereum, provides a key additional function that many other currencies lack: uses outside of a peer to peer transaction base.

But does Ethereum really have the potential to overtake Bitcoin?
