so I got my first 40$ worth of bitcoin i noticed that the that the 40$ goes up and down. Im scared that it will go to 0$ is this possible?, Should i spend my bitcoin on a giftcard? any help please
In theory yes, it can happen.
The price of Bitcoin can become zero upon certain factors, mostly the internet cut off from our lives totally or major governments ban and adopt for severe consequences in using it.

But the history of bitcoin says something else. Internet being cut off all across the globe in something next to impossible and governments are rethinking their stands on bitcoins - so very little chance of it being dropped to absolute zero.

No there is a higher likelihood you sell it at a price that has a value than zero if you even pay the slightest attention to what your coins are doing.
Anyways since it's only $40 you may as well just HODL if that makes you nervous or get that gift card.

Honestly at this point, only the worst case scenario of a major security loophole or problem can bring the value of BTCBTCBTC close to nothing. We've got lots of speculators that would gladly buy BTCBTCBTCs so the price can't go much down without that.

From the question itself,it could be guessed that you are a new comer to bitcoin world.Bitcoin price is determined solely based on the increase and decrease in demand for bitcoin.Since bitcoin is decentralized, there is no central authority to determine bitcoin price. We could see more countries coming forward to accept bitcoin as payment legally and mass adoption is taking place all over the world. So there is an ever growing increase in demand for bitcoin. So there is more probability that bitcoin price would increase continuously and hence nonneed to fear that bitcoin price would become zero.

they have value just because the governments of the world says they do.

LOL
try to open a shop in EU (within Euro area) and accept only crypto currencies.
If you are going to answer to a post, at least make your response have something to do with what I’m talking about, I never suggested anything about opening a shop in EU, my point is that fiat, which means decree or an order, has value because the governments of the world say so, this was not always the case, If the currencies were backed with something, for example gold, then there will not be a way to speculate with them since their value will be determined in grams or ounces of gold.

My advice to you is that you must know few rules and regulation of bitcoin,i am gonna tell something that might help you,so listen up bitcoin is not exactly like all other currencies ,its price keeps varying literally everyday so don't hurry in exchanging your earnings for a giftcard so soon and keep saving what ever you earn in bitcoin ,because it would benefit you in a long run .Its not compulsion that you must save or something but it depends upon you.

It is not a good sign that you don't know this.  Cheesy
Any investment you make of anything starts with the understanding that this is a risk and you should be prepared to lose ALL THE MONEY. Never trade while fearful or hopeful. Fear and hope have no place in mathematics and lead to incorrect decisions.
Having said that, bitcoin will not go to zero. Hell, I would pay a penny for every coin in existence, so there. But let's talk about what you are doing. Bitcoin was never envisioned as an "investment". You can speculate with it, but that is not what it is. Bitcoin is money. That's all, nothing more.

A risk averse way to live off bitcoin is to buy say $500 worth and spend it when the price doubles. Then repeat the process. You will be living at a 50% discount on the items you buy. Whatever your plan, have a plan. Forget what others are doing, don't read the click-bait nonsense on the crypto news sites. Work your plan.
You are correct on all your points, however even if bitcoin was created as money and it was never the intention of satoshi to create an investment, the truth is that currencies have been used for that purpose for quite some time, and that has to do with the fact that the currencies of the world became fiat, they have value just because the governments of the world says they do.

Dont be worried about this matter because you are not the only one who is experiencing this but most bitcoin users and becoming $0 is not possible as of this days because if that happens then all bitcoin holders would become zero in value too.Fluctuating and inflating price is normal for bitcoin.
the concerns will occur if the price of bitcoin bitcoin has decreased drastically then most users bitcoin will become meaningless because the price of befluktasi and menompang back to normal for bitcoin will become the holder of the bitcoin excited again,, I am sure it will not happen in the bitcoin is always ascending

The chances of Bitcoin dropping to $0 is very unlikely at this point. If all you have invested is $40 then I wouldn't worry so much about losing it. You could just hodl and forget about it for about 10 years and you will probably have a big profit.

In fact, since you original post, your $40 has probably doubled if you have left it there. That's not a bad gain for less than a 3 month investment.
For now in bitcoin we are seeing less crash that price increase. we are seen price drop past few weeks ago but right now the price was increase back again and touch nearly $3k value..
And i think the price is normally increase and i think we will see more price increase soon..

Seeing the ups and downs in bitcoin's price is a normal thing and nothing is to be afraid of. However, there is a possibility about bitcoin biting the dust. Bitcoin is unstable and very uncertain so anything can happen in just a blink of an eye. Most of the people here in the forum thinks that bitcoin will continue to go up, even though there are downs, the main track of bitcoin is still upward so just enjoy a bumpy ride.  Wink

Bitcoin won't drop to nothing as the support for digital currency is increasing daily without much oppositions, because several countries have survived good just because of the bitcoin during hard financial failure. One such is the past demonetization in India which paved path for large number of people start using bitcoin.

Definitely not. Maybe theres a chance of going down but it won't going back to zero. That's for sure because of the growing community and demand of btc in the market. Many people are using bitcoin now and we are still escalating. So don't be afraid and give your full trust in btc.
As quoted the price fluctuations will be found throughout, but going down towards a valueless asset doesn't happen anymore. Because these days the potential of bitcoin is understood by the users and more has been into active usage because of the government's showing interest on it. A government won't give importance to something if it doesn't have the potential, so value decrease is possible, but valueless is impossible.

I will go on record to say nope, not a chance in hell that it will ever go to zero. Unless maybe the world blows up.

Bitcoin has about the same probably now to go to $0 as BRK/A stock does. Or Gold going to $0.

Zilch. Zero. Nada. Ain't gonna happen.

There is the possibility of that happening? Yes, is it likely? No, and this is why while the price of bitcoin can go down very rapidly, at some point the price is going to be so cheap that some people will being to buy bitcoin because they see an opportunity, so as long as bitcoin is useful then bitcoin price is going to be above zero, but I will give you an advice, don’t buy more bitcoin until you have read more about bitcoin and what this is about.
