It would not even be necessary to affect the price through trading, you could make a change through social media or traditional media way easier. Imagine if everyone at a huge protest wore Bitcoin t-shirts. Or if someone took hostages waving a bitcoin flag. Or even if they bust some guy selling drugs on the dark web for bitcoin. Positive or negative, that news could easily affect the price, at least temporarily.

In short that what's called FUD. Actually, we have a section in this forum just for that purpose, it is in the Alt Section , no I'm just joking but you can see some example on that strike-through word. Aside from fudding, I can only see people with extreme amount of money who can manipulate bitcoin price by buying in bulk then dumping all it through. Law of demand and supply applies to this fact of pump and dump.
You will not be affected by FUD if you have a great amount of trust invested with bitcoins, FUD is just from people who likes you to dump and only those who have a weak hands will be affected.

There days are gone man, the current standing of bitcoins now in the market cannot be manipulated anymore, the price is just rising up and will not fall back hard, if they can manipulate we have already seen it.

Actually it is still able to be manipulated which is why there is still a pump group that love to work around the exchangers and ready to manipulate when there are some hot stuff coming from the news e.g brexit was one of the latest example how people manipulated it though
You cannot trust a group in this venture because we are in the era where the most greedy means if you know what I mean. Further, the current price now is only driven by the real demand of supply that is why it is continue to increase.

There are many tolls and fuders in the forum. They might be employed by the bitcoin manipulators to  affect the price.

I know there are many big players who manipulate bitcoin price and make huge profits but can we the bitcointalk members also form a cartel and let bitcoin price never fall?is it possible that we manipulate price as I am sure most of bitcoin users visit this forum

Yes we can manipulate it. But many will not join because it is not profitable if the price of bitcoin never falls. Many investor manipulate it to fall the price and if the price fall they have chance to get more bitcoin and sell it at high price. Like my friends doing in altcoin if the Bid orders at low he sell some altcoin so that many newbies will.panic. and sell their altcoin at low price. And thats the best time to buy. But it is risky because there is a time that if he sell some altcoin some.newbie didnt panic.

Yes, we can manipulate price of bitcoin if we can manage to have at least 70% of money of bitcoin market capitalization. I don’t think forming such cartel is a good idea (in order to counter already founded cartel). Let the price fluctuate on the basis of demand and supply as if we are expecting growth then we must keep it natural. Price manipulation might work for the short term but it’s not going to work on a larger time scale. We should keep our aspect natural. Of course there are some external elements manipulating price of bitcoin but in my opinion we shouldn't go in that direction, it’s against the core values.

If we have that much to put in bitcoin then we can manipulate the price , but if we do not have much money I think it would be difficult to manipulate the price of bitcoin . My suggestion is better you to build a group that has many membersperhaps in a way that you / we can manipulate the price of bitcoin .
yeah because if you're just one person alone you need a lot of bitcoin to be able to do manipulations. if you have a group of course you can share your work with members that would be easier

It can be manipulated as long as you have tons of bitcoins reserve to dump ,its easier on altcoins considering the coin is just starting and you can have many coins before the IPO of the altcoin.
Usually price can be manipulated in altcoin because of the low volume but in bitcoins the oldest coins in the cryto world we cannot easily do that now as the users have been increasing and they have also invested. Manipulation can only happen temporarily but some whales will also do their thing to get the price back for the benefits of all.

of course you can manipulate bitcoin price if you have decent amount of fiat, i think big whales can either pump up the price or dump it down for at least 10 dollars with selling or buying

It also depends on the exchange, but if you are talking about big whales, with at least 2000-3000 BTC, then they can easily dump the price down like $50-$60 on an exchange like Bitstamp. This is of course assuming that all the coins get dumped at once.

I got you, saying that at exchanges you can drop the price some bucks, with large number of bitcoins. But those would make nothing at bitcoin at all, because you will sell your coins into others for cheap and they will resell it again for an higger ammount.
Bitcoin todays isnt something we can do what we wanna alone, the community as well the big farms must act at it, just look at the halving what it mades to bitcoin, because people wanna it to grow.

Don't underestimate a dump of around 2000-3000 BTC. It takes out a significant part of the buy orders and forms a hole if large players don't fill that gap of vanished buy orders. Whales mostly dump that many coins at once to cause panic, and in the hope of stop loss orders being triggered after each other which will allow them to buy back their coins at lower price levels.

What is Bitstamp Volume at day?
"Changing the $/BTC rate" is not a thing of 15 seconds, there is about hours and days.

yes , you can manipulate bitcoin price by dumping only if you have more than 10% of bitcoin , the recent manipulation of price by dump was because of Mike Hearn.

Who were behind the big rise in the May to June period? The bitcoin price rose more than 60% in a few weeks.
Lol no one knows who manipulate the price of bitcoin although it happened because of the manipulation maybe people think that it happened because the demand bitcoin enlarged. so actually everything is blurred
if you want to manipulate you need a large allocation of funds
