Manipulating the price for a bit is easy. but to pump it you will need a big wallet Cheesy
right, in addition you also have to have a lot bitcoin. but it is very risky, because it can make you a big loss just to manipulate the price of bitcoin

To influence the price of Bitcoin at current market capitalisation we would need all the Bitcoin whales who frequent the Bitcointalk forums and even such pooled together resources may not be enough to move the price. However it's very easy to achieve such price manipulation of alt coins and the potential for profit is even bigger than Bitcoin. Find a recently launched alt coin, pump and dump, rinse and repeat with the next one. Profit Wink
That's basically what 'we' can do with bitcoins as well, pump and dump. Although 'we' would need a lot of funds for that because 'we' will need to hoard the bitcoins then pump and dump. Not really a profit, but that's a way to manipulate the price.

to manipulate the price of bitcoin you need to have so many bitcoin, if you want to do that make a group and the fund will be 1000 btc at least to make that happen but it will always have someone who have more fund than you that will manipulate the price too.

1000btc is still not enough to manipulate bitcoin, imagine the market capacity( more like 8 million) + the current value of it. You need atleast 1million bitcoin capacity to really move the price of bitcoin and manipulate it but even you have this high amount it's still not enough to make the price goes a real dump and pump value. I think what exactly you need is half of the current amount of the market capacity to be able to surprise people and make the price on a flash report news. Maybe if someone on the forbes rich man will do this thing then it will be possible but I doubt it will happen, businesses doesn't want to adopt bitcoin yet.

Anyone can manipulate the bitcoin market with a huge capital. What do you mean by "we"? if that "we" means a few "average joe's" then the answer is no. You can't do a shit. If that "we" means a few ceo's, then the answer is yes.

There are users trying to manipulate the price, writing news about bitcoin is going to crash, and other users writing about bitcoin going to the moon. Some of them are doing it to move the prices for its convenience, but you need that traders believe in your posts to move the prices, i think isn't an easy task.

people like kwukduck that are trying to talk down on bitcoin by spreading hate and negativity don't have much of an impact anymore nowadays. even noobs don't take him serious anymore. this type of "manipulation" used to work back in 2012 till 2014 but not today anymore.

yeah of course it could mate someone who has a lot of bitcoin perhaps more than 10k BTC will be very easy to manipulate the price of bitcoin. moreover bitcoin users today still say quite a bit. so the price will be very easy to be manipulated and therefore will be in need of more users. it would drown or be difficult for manipulators

Yeah if people have big amount of btc surely they can manipulate the price because no one holding the price of bitcoin and if many people will try to hoard and hoard their btc its very sure that the price of bircoin will and if many people will sell the same it can effect to bitcoin price will go down, and thats why the reason why online store doubting for bitcoin for now because of its stability.

Not likely with the current market capitalization!! It would absolutely be possible with an altcoin though.

Aka:
*PUMP AND DUMP*

Want to do it solo? Find a shitcoin and buy $500 worth every day for 10-30 days then sell sell sell!
Yep and people are doing exactly that every day.  It's interesting and sometimes fun to play along, but I couldn't move even the smallest shitcoin with what's in my shallow pockets.  Lol
The bad thing is that we cant control the value and that is the problem and it would be of course better if you can wait a longer time for the price rise and that you can make it more popular.
But we cant still control the value and that is the bad thing of Bitcoin.

BTC's market cap is not that big actually, so if some groups connive on manipulating the price, it can be done. Even a few people could do it actually, given that they have ammo to either pump or dump BTC at their command.

You will need a lot of money/coins to tilt the price of bitcoins in your favour. If you do somehow manage to do this your probably going to get quite a bit of profit back when bitcoins we're sub $100 this would have been easier to do playing around with it. But as the price of bitcoins go up less people can control the price.

I know there are many big players who manipulate bitcoin price and make huge profits but can we the bitcointalk members also form a cartel and let bitcoin price never fall?is it possible that we manipulate price as I am sure most of bitcoin users visit this forum

Maybe you are right, 'Whale' players who have many bitcoins can easily manipulate the price of bitcoin by selling or buying all their money into bitcoin, and it's make the price of bitcoin increase/decrease.

Bitcoin can me manipulated for sure but it will be a high money involved at it,meaning to make the bitcoin price change around 5 dollars maybe you will need atleast 300000 dollars to try to pump it and make it stable,im not any expert on this area but with others altcoins is very easy and cheap to make the pump with bitcoin is a huge work and a high cost to make it happen and stands.

Yeah we can somewhat manipulate the price but there have to be allot of people involved if many people buy Bitcoin then sure after that the price is going to change.
Same goes for when many people are going to sell.

Manipulation is also done by high speculations, and many people keeps on speculating about the price of bitcoin, especially the big whales can surely manipulate the price of bitcoin.
