Good topic Cheesy, I'm really interested in this, I just use NordVPN --> https://nordvpn.com/download/windows/ and I kinda have access to bitcoin, but I'm really worried about it, won't my wallet disappear at one point?  Undecided Huh
What is the relationship between using a VPN and your bitcoin wallet? According to the OP, he is using a VPN in order to access bitcointalk or this forum. The question is if it is the same case for us. Your answer is not relevant to the topic. I get it; you suggested a VPN, but OP is already using a VPN, so he doesn't need another VPN. He wants to know how he will be able to access the website or this forum without using a VPN. But sadly, if you are in a country where there are restrictions on some websites, you don't have a choice but to use a VPN; otherwise, you will never be able to access those restricted websites in your country. Well, as long as this forum doesn't forbid the usage of VPN, you are good; you just need to go through extra steps in order to access this forum.

Goodnight, o_e_l_e_o 🌹
I'm in US. No restrictions, land of the free:)

China might be the only country with restrictions so far, Russia might join you soon so you don't feel alone
The reason why I love US. No matter what happens, Liberty remains the national ideology of US. They will threaten you with many things but that freedom of choice and engagement is what cannot be denied you.
In my country, there's no such restrictions and that is why the adoption of crypto in my country is massive. If the government finally introduces it, the citizens will surely find ways to overcome the barrier. The force is enormous and very obvious that it cannot be overcome by the government.

Apart from China, other countries I remember and remember restrictions or deprivation of certain rights are;
Russia,
Kim's Korea.

Good topic Cheesy, I'm really interested in this,

Even if you're interested in this topic, bumping up old threads like this without adding something constructive is considered rude. If you have a question, it's better to open a new thread rather than reviving a years-old discussion. Some of the information presented here may already be out of date or just wrong.

I heard that there were many atrocities committed by the Chinese government against its people who violated regulations. It seems, I'd better think about immediately moving to another country so I can access everything freely without worrying about the stupid regulations made by the government to limit its citizens from using the internet.

Moving out is not easy, especially if you are not a migrant and have been living there your whole life and so have your ancestors and older generations, you have your roots there and when that is the case, you won't be able to just moving to another country just because you are bothered by the regulations imposed by the government because there are many things one needs to consider before taking such a step and it's not an easy thing to do.
Besides, it's not just about a small group of people, a large part of the popular is bothered by all these things and I don't think they call can move to another country and start living a normal life just there.
So I believe the only option they have is to either wait for regulations to get removed or raise their voice if they think their rights are being violated.

dont be greedy
China has regulations that make it difficult for some people to take advantage of popular services created by companies in other countries. I myself am not really bothered as long as I can still access certain applications or links using VPN, because premium VPN is not that expensive here. But as a Chinese citizen, aren't you afraid of the punishment you will get if you are caught making a mistake by breaking government regulations?

Hello guys, I am very depressed. I live in China mainland, each time when I try to login to Bitcoin client(I use portable Electrum most) I must seek for a proxy or VPN. Without a proxy or vpn, the client can't hardly connect to the network.  Sometimes,  I cannot even access Bitcointalk and Blockchain freely without using a proxy or vpn, and yes, at the moment, I am using a vpn browsing Bitcointalk and starting this topic.
Have you ever travel to China? We get no access to Twitter, Facebook, Gmail and many many many other websites that are hosted abroad.
Can you use Bitcoin freely and access Bitcointalk and Blockchain freely without using a proxy/VPN in your country?

Many things changed in the world since this post.
I would love to hear about the actual situation.
How is it now in China? Can you access now any website or at least these mentioned without VPN?
Any other countries encourting the same situation?

You would be probably better of with a virtual machine with a different IP address. You have several software options to help you change your IP address; or you can simply use a proxy.

I have been to China and the problem was mostly about Bitcointalk but I used a VPN with high encryption. The only problem with this is that the GFW can obstruct access to VPN websites and don't allow users to use it. Tor can be the answer but it is relatively hard to connect for me even with bridges. Bitcoin access isn't too much of a problem as you can download the transaction from websites and sign it locally and send it back to broadcast.

Yeh, it is sad that the Chinese even get no access to twitter and facebook and google, and many many many other.

Didn't know some countries blocked access through VPN's , but I doubt there is anyway to stop people from using them to access the site. As for using Bitcoin, is there anyway of using it for your wallet to route it through your network?

If I were to use a VPN wouldn't VPN only be valid for the browsers and not the bitcoin wallet on my PC ? or would that too be connected through the VPN ?

I hate my government.  They blocked so many sites.

Yes, sometimes I have to use proxy to come here. But most of the time, I can access directly. Don't know if there's something to do with my ISP.

Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi!

We here in the Aus of Tralia (get it? US of A? :3) have no restrictions.

If China blocks bitcointalk + blockchain, I'd recommend Bot to use it. You might get into trouble.

If it's just crappy internet connection, I'd say go to some web cafe or something.

But then again, I haven't been to China in yonks, so this is just a guess. :/ sorry if I can't be of much help
