Love me love my Bitcoin.
Even I can access most of the sites including bitcointalk here in our country , still I am using VPN. Quite much faster than our ISP's. Even the free VPN one here is much faster especially in peak hours. But of course ISP sometimes kick much against VPN on a different day.
Seriously!!!  In which country you live in Huh

I've heard always that the vpn's are much slower than the Isp's Internet.

That is for local servers only. For some sites hosted on the servers abroad, VPN may get you a faster speed.

I live in USA and as far as I know the government here doesn't block any sites.

Here its the internet companies that make their sites faster and other sites slower.

Yeah the U.S government does not block sites really. They just confiscate the whole operation.

What's that?

Hello guys, I am very depressed. I live in China mainland, each time when I try to login to Bitcoin client(I use portable Electrum most) I must seek for a proxy or VPN. Without a proxy or vpn, the client can't hardly connect to the network.  Sometimes,  I cannot even access Bitcointalk and Blockchain freely without using a proxy or vpn, and yes, at the moment, I am using a vpn browsing Bitcointalk and starting this topic.
Have you ever travel to China? We get no access to Twitter, Facebook, Gmail and many many many other websites that are hosted abroad.

Yes they blocked mostly free vpns and some popular vpn that are regularly being used in China. But still other premium vpn services working fine in China. This is very important to take a serious VPN provider. Not only for Chinese people which needs to bypass censorship but for all people who wants to protect their privacy.

The VPNs/Proxies got blocked too? So how can the ppl there access to the outside world?

That is true in some point. VPN speed relys on ISP's speed. Look like my post is misleading you. It just that using VPN gives me more speed than using our normal connection here (although our normal connection here is quite fast ). But I just want to have more speed than the usual one. Smiley

Yes I can.  ISPs here don't block sites and we can access any sites freely (except sites that can be only accessed within a certain region) without using a vpn

Is Tor now considered usable with Bitcoin?

I remember there was an issue with being de-anonymised but that was a while ago.

As his government is very strict regarding Internet censorship, so if they find out that someone is using social media or anything like that in one way or the other then it will be very problematic to him.

There is an example of it;
As you all be knowing about the one child norm of China,
There was a family in which a second child was born.
Their government fined them around 100k euro(if I'm right and maybe more). And you all know that 100k euro is hell of a fine.

well the government there has a reason you can't keep feeding your population like no tomorrow, that country is fully of bad pollution now, take a look at the production of their factories

anyway talking about bypassing their internet limitations, it can be avoided with some proxies, i doubt they have banned any proxy/vps/vpn out there

By doing this and if he get caught then his life can become like hell.
Their government is so strict and also keeps track of every online activity(OK most of it).
And if someone found guilty of doing illegal activity then God knows what they'll do to him.

you should not rely on their internet service provider when doing what i've said, but on a mesh network if possible or some wifi that his not controlled

but also a good vpn which do not keep the log it would be okay i guess
