Changed the color layout a bit and rewrote the script. Stats should be a hell of a lot more accurate from now on. Cool

I would think a combination of the website and working phone app today would make physical Bitcoins able to replace cash tomorrow

Added a search box that will search for only Casascius addresses, works for partial or full addresses. Also added the version for each address. Shocked

I wrote something like this as well using Yahoo Pipes to query against the list and then Block Explorer as well. To reduce stress on Block Explorer, it might be a better idea to write one based on Abe. How many people buy Casascius coins? Is there a need/desire for a website that does a simple authentication? What about if I made an Android app to go with it? Or if I made the website could someone make an iPhone and Android app? I would think a combination of the website and working phone app today would make physical Bitcoins able to replace cash tomorrow...

PHP is powerful, but usually poofs out randomly after a few thousand loops. Smiley

Common... Facebook is written in PHP, I'm sure PHP can handle a lot more than few thousands loops ;-).

Disclaimer: I has been using PHP for years, but Python is much more powerful!
Only problem I have with Python is whitespace.

There might be a problem with the analyzer.  There should be far more opened coins than is shown.

I believe I have loaded a balance on 3,836 coins so far (give or take - this is from a database that I use for going from firstbits to full address, which records when I do a lookup).  The Active plus Opened should total to very close to this.

Maybe using Abe would be better choice than polling blockexplorer. Abe indexes blockchain to sql database, so you can do complete check with only few SQL commands. Search "bitcoin abe" on google.

Thanks, I'll definitely take that into consideration when modifying the parameters of the script and it should cut down runtime. PHP is powerful, but usually poofs out randomly after a few thousand loops. Smiley

Here's a couple of heuristics that might help.

Of the first series batch, these are all sorted in order, and you'll generally find them continuing to get consumed in order.  I have been burning the candle at both ends of the stick, with a bias toward doing the 25 BTC coins from the end of the list, and the 1's and 100's from the beginning, due to a slightly different depth and diameter of the hollowed circle in the 25BTC coin.  I have burned through 11xxxxxx thru about 1Axxxxxx (with the circles just barely cut for 1Bxxxxxx), and also from 1Ptxxxxx thru to the end of the batch.  Nothing from 1Cxxxxxx thru 1Nxxxxxx has been touched yet, the key circles remain in uncut sheets.

The 2nd series, the numbers are all printed, cut, dumped in a pile, and picked from at random.

The site simply displays the contents of a database, The actual script itself has to be ran manually. It checks block explorer and sets the address as active and the 'Casascius Bitcoin' type or inactive depending on what data the script receives. I'd like to figure out a way to scan the blockchain since I'm sure it would be MUCH faster as the script does take a while to go through. Right now I have no clue how to do this with PHP.

I'm planning on rewriting the script to separate the redeemed and unused addresses, as well as a way to to indicate v1 and v2. ETA is sometime next week  Smiley

I am wondering how you are polling for the value.  Block Explorer?  Or from a block chain file stored locally?

In addition to how many are active, I would also be somewhat curious to know how many are redeemed (that is, they used to have a balance, now they don't) as opposed to never having a balance.

Since I am noting which addresses are series 2, the analyzer could also differentiate between series 1 and series 2 coins.
