No data, on MSI's Aero exhaust blowers Sad

EVGA is shipping it's 1070 FTW models with dual ball bearings fans (last 4 times as long)!

8 phases to the GPU (1070 reference ships with 4 phases)

EVGA 1070 FTW can draw a total of 215watts - for safe overclocking. Not to mention a free game code in the UK for "Gears of War 4".

Yes, I'm very sad about the 1070's I bought  Sad

MSI reds are pieces of shit. I've had over 60% of the ones I bought fail due to faulty VRM circuitry. I literally sent the last five I bought back over the last two months. There is a VRM module that isn't under neath the heatsink that always fails. They get extremely hot and rupture. I've had a few of them actually pop off of the card, one landed on particle board after exploding and started scorching it because it was too hot. It very much could've started a fire if it landed on something with a low burn point.

That said almost all of the 1070s right now come with copies of Gears of War (which people with fake credit cards promptly try to rip you off for on eBay).

Weirdly enough, EVGA/Zotac/MSI are the only manufacturers that sell cards with double PCIE power plugs. Zotac is a PoS due to the armor completely wrapping the exhaust on the card and MSI sells cards with shitty VRM circuitry even though they aren't cheap.

Even Asus models, although they have great coolers (pretty sure they're the best minus triple slot coolers), do not have a double power plug model. That is putting aside blowers, which are the best out of the bunch, but the loudest if you're trying to pack a bunch of cards in a small area. Blower fans DO NOT fail as well, however they're hard to blow out. They use some heavy duty bearings on those. I've never had one go bad.
No problem with my MSI GTX1080 gaming : the problem on msi 1070 may be linked to the vram used  (micron) : https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/4wh8jc/msi_officially_announces_gtx_1070_quality/

It has nothing to do with memory. It's the quality of the VRMs they're using. I literally saw one go up in smoke when I powered on the system. Blue magic smoke ejected from the VRM cluster on boot. They fail randomly. Mining I'm sure definitely expedites that, but it's always the little VRM that's sitting outside the PCIE plug. The top right one closest to the edge of the card.

Even though they're the same card, make, and model, they use different components. You can compare the VRM markings between two different cards and they're different. Guessing they have some sort of weird reliability issue with one of the manufaturers. Unfortunately I only noticed specifically what component was going bad on the last two and didn't save the VRMs (that literally fell off the card) to compare them.

Why is everyone so scared of failing fan? That is the best thing that could happen to my 970's.

Does 1.5.74 or 1.5.80 support LBRY or only the private miners?

It doesn't seem to work, I'm not sure if the algo config is correct and I couldn't find documentation to set the algo.

I've tried

ccminer.exe -a lbry -o stratum+tcp://lbry.suprnova.cc:6256 -u username.workerx -p x
pause

ccminer.exe --algo=lbry -o stratum+tcp://lbry.suprnova.cc:6256 -u username.workerx -p x
pause

It doesn't work, use tpruvot's.

All time will be someone, who will try to sell your product cheaper it's inevitably, but you will receive your 2% fee from each miner...
With delay - no one use your 4th version - you win in it, but you loosing 2% from each miner - summarily not so bad hashrate on your wallet.

Solution to most of your problems: don't overclock! You will make better use of your electricity and your cards will last much longer.

Better yet, counter your overclocking with a lower TDP.
Much better efficiency, and a lot less strain on the VRMs (and pretty much everything else)   Wink

I don't imagine anyone would dream of overclocking a £400 GPU like the 1070, when it only has 4 phases sending current to it's GPU core Grin

I'd, even refuse to overclock a crappy single core antique like a AMD Sempron 145 on any motherboard using only 4 phases for current delivery Cheesy

Those, beastly, AMD Sempron 145 could go from 2.8mhz to 3.92mhz @ 1.5volts on air cooling Grin

Yeah, that could be an issue.

Bought mine's from Scan Computers - it has  the "By Royal Appointment trademark" and the Royal Trademark means everything costs more than Overclockers.UK, Ebuyer and Amazon Grin  Cheesy

UK version memory runs at slower speeds for Nvidia compute tasks via some bios limitation: 3800mhz and not 4008mhz.

1070's crashed on some of the early drivers, when running some memory intensive crypto algo's like Dagger.

Can't overclock the memory at all, only the GPU cores are stable when overclocked.

However, at stock they work very well and they only use 117watts-122watts.

MSI Aero 1070 8GB using Aero Blower Exhaust

So, the fans should last forever, because the blowers use a heavy duty ball-bearing Grin

Basic model and the cheapest. I like it because it has 2 fans. one 6pin connector and 90watt in the wall. (doesn't need powered risers)  If you oc too much the card will trottle down to the maximum stable speed.
Nice..

if used for mining 7/24, the fans will likely break way before the warranty ends.
for mining, ball bearing fans are way more reliable, and I'd say required, unless you sell the cards after a handful of months.

this is the reason why i usually set them at 40% speed, which is the minimum, the other auxiliary fans will do the jobs

I do not know about GTX 1060, but i still have some Gainward GTX750Ti's in operation. Ball bearing, fans are working at max 66% for more than 2.5years now, without any issue. OC-ed core clock to 1380Mhz.

Msi 1070 are crap.. 2 failed on me out of 5. I sold the other 3.

Recently i got an EVGA 1070 (the one with the white leds) burning the pci riser slot.

I have very bad luck with the 1070s

I never got such a failure rate with older gpus (Sapphires 7950 and Gigabytes 280x, all fine after 2 years, only fan issues)

1070 reference design has only 4 phases and most of the early cards shipped with only 4 phases going to the GPU core!

They really don't recommend overclocking anything drawing more than 125watts with only 4 phases going to a GPU or CPU.

So, I'm not a surprised there is a high failure rate when you overclocked them.

AMD tends to put in more phases in their £200 plus cards (RX 480 reference design has 6 phases) and this means safer overclocking outcomes.
