I'd rather take this pubic than in a PM, here is the message I sent your support about my missing funds.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I sent 30ETH via the Safe Split Contract to your address 0x2E73054A98751f31b79E399F0FB1708aD1A63A8E on Nov-03-2016 08:51:10 AM +UTC.
* My address is:
https://etherscan.io/address/0x9cece8dd29798a91db73fe665222ed0b92f0f768
* The 30 ETH transaction is:
https://etherscan.io/tx/0x73c5b8fa565c882c6cdd9d77662268acd0352920aae4e9e33423029d273df1a1
* The safe split contract I used is:
* https://etherscan.io/address/0xaa1a6e3e6ef20068f7f8d8c835d2d22fd5116444
* Your address that I sent to now has a balance of 30 ETH, as shown here:
* https://etherscan.io/address/0x2e73054a98751f31b79e399f0fb1708ad1a63a8e

If you look at the TX, you can see that it says:
Contract 0xaa1a6e3e6ef20068f7f8d8c835d2d22fd5116444
(ReplaySafeSplit) TRANSFER 30 Ether to 0x2E73054A98751f31b79E399F0FB1708aD1A63A8E.
You can also see that it does this by looking at the data field of the transaction:
Function: split(address targetFork, address targetNoFork)

MethodID: 0x0f2c9329
  • :0000000000000000000000002e73054a98751f31b79e399f0fb1708ad1a63a8e
  • [1]:0000000000000000000000009cece8dd29798a91db73fe665222ed0b92f0f768

This shows that on the ETH chain (targetFork) the 30ETH was sent to address 0x2E73054A98751f31b79E399F0FB1708aD1A63A8E. On the ETC chain (targetNoFork) the X ETC was sent back to myself at address 0x9CeCe8DD29798a91DB73fe665222Ed0B92F0f768.
You can also view the incoming transaction into your account here:
https://etherscan.io/address/0x2e73054a98751f31b79e399f0fb1708ad1a63a8e#internaltx

Since we are using Ethereum, a magical thing called a blockchain, we don't need your system to be able to trace the transaction. I just traced them all myself and you can verify and trace the TX in the same manner. Click the links above.

Now that we are in agreement that the 30 ETH was successfully sent from my account to your account, you need to either (1) send a transaction from your account to my account with a value of 30 ETH (0x9CeCe8DD29798a91DB73fe665222Ed0B92F0f768) or (2) credit my CEX account 30ETH.
If you do not do either of these things, you have stolen my funds that have provably been sent to you.
If you cannot help me resolve this situation or do not understand how a blockchain works, please escalate my ticket to someone who can get this matter sorted.
Thank you.

Dear QuentinA,

We do understand how the system works and that transaction tracks on blockchain. However, right where you find your deposit address in CEX there is a notice:

We do not support Ethereum transactions generated from smart contracts. Please, send ETH in traditional transactions only.

We urge everyone to be very attentive with making crypto transactions, since they are irreversible in nature. Please PM us your userID or an email you have used to register with us, and we will see if there is anything we can do to recover your coins.

Hi,

Just wondering if its possible to add a feature to sort active orders by column in the https://cex.io/trade page

It would be great to order by price to see in more detail where my order distribution is. Other exchanges have this feature and I find it really useful.

P.S. shame that NMC and DOGE wallets are being discontinued. I was hoping that they would be added back as trading pairs at some point in the future.

Thanks,
Starmman

Thank you for the suggestion. We will surely try to put it into one of the future releases.

It's a good thing you've launched margin trading, soon enough your trade volume would be as high as Poloniex.

Thank you! We are aiming even higher;)

BTC/EUR Margin Trading Launched

We are glad to announce the launch of BTC/EUR margin trading on CEX.IO. This is the third pair for trading with leverage on the exchange, after BTC/USD and ETH/BTC.

May we remind you that trading with leverage is done in Margin Trading tab on the Trade page. Please, also note that EUR is the collateral currency for BTC/EUR pair.

We welcome you to try out BTC/EUR margin trading right away!

nice Smiley

I just took a closer look at how your margin works, and although I may asked that already previously, I just noticed that really EUR (fiat) is the only currency which is used for margin. Even for sell orders.

What is the calculation rate, that is used to calculate how many bitcoins I can sell with my EUR balance? (need to get this value via API)

It is really hard to implement margin trading into my bot... I have implemented Kraken, but within the past months cex, therocktrading and also some other exchanges integrated margin trading, and it seems it works completely different at every exchange >.<
- Kraken can use any currency for margin trading (can sell btc if I only have Euro or only btc, and can buy btc with only euro or only btc). And Kraken has "settle position" feature, which is mandatory for my trading strategy and also a nice featre for non margin traders, cause it allows to sell btc before you deposit them (only having EUR in account). You can place margin orders at any price you want, and close them at anytime at any price you want.
- TheRockTrading uses EUR when playing buy orders and uses BTC for sell orders. You place margin orders at limit price and decide when to close it for market price.
- Cex uses always only fiat.. and placing positions is quite strange, see below.

I tried margin trading manually at cex now.
Instead of a Limit Price, I have to enter a "Stop Loss Price" ?!
So if I get it right, it will be always a market order, to open the position. And I have to set the closing price when opening it, and can't decide at another time to close position at the price I want?
That is a really strange implementation of margin trading.

I think the person who created this idea of implementation did not know much about margin. I also don't know much, but I know that margin trading, if implemented the right way, can be used for alot of different purposes.
The way you implemented it, is comparable to your "Buy/Sell" menu, where you just hit the amount you want and finished.  It is for users who don't care much about trading.  But it is nothing for real traders with strategy.

So I really hope you will implement advanced margin trading some time. The same way like kraken has.

edit:
it is not only your exchange with a strange implementation of margin Wink
Of course I also try to convince the other exchanges to imrpove margin trading, so it can be used by real traders..

It is true, that on every exchange the mechanism is different. This comes from the market conditions we operate in, as well as some legal consideration on what margin trading is.

Let's go point by point:

1) The price is the estimated open price (in api it is 'eoprice'). Unfortunately, this is not a guaranteed price, and since market orders are used to open position, slippage can occur at position placement.  You may prevent this by setting 'anySlippage': to 'false' and this will prevent opening a position with a price different from eoprice.

2) At the moment all the position financing is done with second symbol in pair (BTC/USD - that would be USD, ETH/BTC that would be BTC). We are working on implementing financing in any symbol, so that it is more comfortable for you to trade with whatever funds you have on balance. This is planned for one of the nearest releases.

3) Stop loss will close your position in case of unfavorable market conditions. The proposed price is set to not let you lose more than 20% of your funds in position, but you can manually adjust it to be more or less. Nevertheless, you may close the position at any time manually if you decide to do so. We are also planning on implementing a "take profit" option, to close your position when price reaches a certain favorable level.

4) Our margin trading is indeed simplified as much as possible at launch to let users try what it does. We are adding functions as we go to give you the instrument you can use to implement your strategy (and we really do value your feedback for it;)

REST API response is very slow within the past hours, get alot of timeout errors, meaning that the response took more than 15 seconds =/
Maybe you can check that.

Thank you for reporting the issue. We have checked and fixed it - should be a lot faster now.

withdrawing bitcoins does not work very well.
The confirmation email takes very long.

It was already the case yesterday. There it took ~3 minutes (all the days before it was there nearly instant).
Now I'm waiting 7 minutes and still nothing... will edit this post when it arrives... hope it will be within 30 minutes otherwise it will be invalid Cheesy

edit:
30 minutes later still nothing... so it will be invalid if it arrives some day..
I wrote a support ticket...

Poloniex offer both margin trading and lending. It's also fully automated, lenders set their interest rates and duration, and borrowers (those who place margin trading orders) are automatically provided with the cheapest loans available (they can also set max interest % they're willing to pay).

Interest rates are set by free market (supply/demand), and Poloniex take fees from the lenders' interest earned. Pretty neat system.

Not sure what you mean by needing to create separate account.

If you were to go that route and allow P2P lending, your commission on each order would go down massively. Currently you charge 0.2%, compared to 0.003% Poloniex take (current lending rates of 0.02% x 15% Poloniex fee). But that would likely attract more users, pump up the volume and allow free market to decide on rates (so you don't have to monitor and adjust to competitors) + you won't have to engage your own funds.

CEX.IO holds money (margin) from the main and the only one balance. Therefore, there is no need to transfer money from exchange to margin balance.

Regarding the fees. CEX.IO charges one time open position fee = 0.2%, analogically to trade fee.

Fee for borrowed money is a Rollover fee and is 0.01% that charges every 4 hours for position prolongation. Please note that it is not charged for the first 4 hours.

Finally, we do not charge a fee for position closing.

So, for example, if you open a position and close it after 3 hours, you will pay only 0.2%. It may be less than on the exchanges you refer to.

after open service margin trading
open lending service too or not, same with poloniex and bitfienx open servise lending too

Lending service is the borrowing operation which is an automatic process and a part of our Margin trading at CEX.IO. Unlike other services it is more convenient and easier to use as, first of all you don't need to create an separate account and secondly, all the calculations are done automatically which makes it optimal for one's use.

Could you add an option to add extra transactionfee to crypto withdrawals ?

I have again a btc withdrawal which is unconfirmed since an hour =/ (okay there were only 2 blocks found meanwhile)
If I were able to add some extra transactionfee if I'm in hurry, it would be good Smiley

1-2 blocks with no confirmation is quite normal - considering the recent mempool size - this is a very good result even. We understand that with being in a hurry may be an issue, and we will try to implement it, but we cannot promise a quick solution.

What is the status about ETH withdrawal?
I requested a small withdrawal before the hardfork. Most exchanges resumed transfers already, but the withdrawal from cex was still not send (nothing in an block explorer):
2016-10-18 13:30:11   -50.00000000 ETH   xx   WITHDRAW   -   Transaction is being processed.

Sorry for the error, we are having a look at it. Please, if any errors like that take place - use our support chat or email [email protected] - this is a much faster way to report errors to us.
