Shivoreun: I didn't make any changes to the scheduler, so it should not behave differently than before. If you can create a debug report (in Tests tab) after a scheduled action was supposed to be triggered but wasn't, I'll see if it gives any clues as to why. If the action is being ignored/skipped it should say why in the log.

gtraah: "When current pool goes down" event is triggered when cgminer reports that the current pool is dead. Sometimes a pool will only be dead for a minute or two, but this is enough to triggered the action. I would suggest having at least two pools in your config, and use failover strategy (default). When pool 0 goes down, cgminer switches to pool 1. It then checks occasionally to see if pool 0 is back up, and when it is it will switch back to it.

Hi Guys,

Some issues if you may help that would be awesome:

First of all, Scheduler actions -

I am alittle confused with the When Event occurs - When pool goes down. So what is classified as a pool going down, I am running on a Multipool for profitable coins, and basically after 12 hrs I check the miner and it switch profiles as I asked the scheduler to switch profiles when pool is down, problem is I dont actually think the pool went down, No one stated the pool was down, also I restarted the profile and it went back to normal, now I beleive  have wasted 3 hrs on this multipool because of this. I currently turned off ALL schedules as I do not understand some. ANd Do not want to risk it switiching for no reason.

Question 1: What specifically has to go on in cgminer so Cgwatcher detects the pool is down?

Question 2 : Is there a way to switch profile when pool goes down, then somehow switch back when the pool is back up again?

Question 3: With a multipool Coin switcher - Do you really need to set a failover ? Because I am sure the multipool has there own failovers to swtich from coin to coin.

Thanks for the quick responses milone and crypto, I have some time today to troubleshoot so I will run through any error logs and try the latest version supporting scrypt.
Very much appreciated.

Is there a specific version of cgminer that should be used?

cgminer version 3.7.2 is the last version of cgminer created that supports mining Scrypt coins. This is what I use with CGWatcher and have it working very, very well on 2, 7950 3-card rigs at this time. Being able to examine the miner logs at the click of a button, and then pick them up with a RegEx script and count the number of times a pool is dead, or alive, mining the data out of the log to do analysis really provides some interesting statistic, I'm lovin' it.

I count the number of times my rigs are restarting and zero in on the issues quickly, it's a really cool program, don't give up, keep working with it.

When I try to donate mining time to Milone, the miner won't connect to the sites he has coded in there, especially coinotron, as I am in the U.S. and connectivity typically sucks, but I know Milone will work that out so he can see my installation of CGWatcher mining coin for him, he's a busy guy, so I guess he'll get around to this. ;-)

Is there any particular reason you're using versions of cgminer so old? As far as the freezing, I don't believe there is anything that CGWatcher does that would cause this. CGWatcher is a portable application, meaning once you delete the folder it is gone completely. There is no trace it was ever there except for a startup entry may still be present if you did not disable Windows startup before deleting it... but even this would not cause any problems. It does not make any modifications to your system that would cause the computer to behave differently, whether it is running or not.

I would suggest closing cgminer, then launching CGWatcher. Does the system freeze? Then start the miner using CGWatcher. Does the system freeze? Does CGWatcher stop responding or show any errors? If you go the Log tab in CGWatcher and check the 'Show debug log entries' checkbox, you'll see if any errors have occurred... but again, these errors are CGWatcher errors and should not even affect the miner, let alone the entire system. If you go to the Tests tab you'll see a button labeled 'Create debug report' which will report a lot of info to help troubleshoot issues, which is why I ask in the readme to include this information when reporting problems.

CGWatcher just sits on the computer talking to the miner. It does not really interact with the system other than getting OpenCL and ADL/NVAPI information about GPUs that are present... and even doing this it is only requesting data, not changing anything. When you change a GPU setting like clock speed in CGWatcher, for example, it is actually just sending a command to cgminer telling it to change the clock speed.

If you want to email me a debug report I'll check it to see if anything out of the ordinary is happening. But it's running on almost 28,000 computers now with no other reports of this behavior so at first glance it seems more like a problem with your system - maybe a driver re-install or update is needed. Like I said, once you delete CGWatcher it is gone as if it never existed, so if the problem is still happening after deleting it, it tells me there is some other cause. There are no files or modified settings it leaves behind.

All that said, I've been wrong before so if by some chance CGWatcher is causing your system to freeze I'd like to know about it... but I can't do anything without more information.

Hi, I just started checking out cgwatcher and am having some problems running cgminer now.  Is there a specific version of cgminer that should be used?

I installed the newest version of cgwatcher and setup the file locations and tried to start mining and the screen just froze in place, had to power cycle.  Tried a few more times and the same thing happened so I tried to go back to just mining through the cgminer executable file and it now freezes.  I deleted cgwatcher and tried again and still it just freezes.  I tried re downloading versions of cgwatcher and cgminer and cgminer alone still wont function, it freezes in place whenever I try to run it.  I cant get anything to work.  I have been trying cgminer 3.1.1 and 2.11.4.

My system is specifically just for mining running:
windows 8.1
msi z77a-g45 mobo
4x xfx 7950 BE
4gb ram
LEPA 1600w PSU

any help is appreciated, cant get my system to mine anything at the moment.
What version of cgminer works best for scrypt?

Thanks,
Boon

si3: Try version 1.3.4.2 and see if it works properly. It should not trigger any scheduled actions if the miner is set to auto-launch and it has not yet occurred.
Thanks, it works.

formant909, krich:  Please try downloading again, which will give you files I just updated (version 1.3.4.1) and let me know if this still occurs. I would recommend moving the folder off of the desktop into a folder like C:\Miners\CGWatcher because Windows sometimes does some weird things with stuff on the desktop regarding permissions. Please let me know if this update fixes this problem.

CGWatcher & CGRemote
Cryptofibe:  It is still my intention for CGWatcher to be my first open-source project, but with the number of users now it has become less of a priority so has been bumped down the to-do list. I still have no idea how to use github. Then I started working on CGRemote, killing any free time I had after working on CGWatcher. I'm not sure if I'll end up open-sourcing CGRemote at some point, but it won't be any time soon.

Hi just got 1.3.4 and have it setup in a desktop folder like the previous version. Have loaded my conf file in from the cgminer folder and it runs it fine.

However, I'm having an issue saving settings under the settings tab, it just hangs the program (not responding) and I have to force it close and restart. When I first ran the program after downloading it did hang also a couple of times before I got it to load fully. Any suggestions?

Merry Christmas milone, thank you very much for the new version  Grin I am having the same issue as above. When I trying to save settings under the settings tab, the program just hangs and I have to close it via Task Manager. When I reopen and check, the settings haven't saved.
