Is this exchanger alive? My friend sends me a referral link, as well as this review https://cryptogeek.info/en/exchanges/changelly, and tells me to register using his link if it's not difficult for me.
All reviews are too positive, I feel a catch.

All this information gathered in one place provides very good information about both teams and their sannanigans. What the exchange did was ultra shady changing the rules like that and withholding funds...

We all need to be careful in crypto guys! Every step of the way

Must confess that I've never been as vested in any thread on BTT has I've been with this one. Was under the impression that the "community" aspect of the forum was long gone and nobody in crypto will lift a finger if the lifting ain't incentivized. Was completely astounded when I realized OP paid for thread, then went "Oh, well, it's their crypto". Then I got the message about OP's appreciation. Apparently, chivalry's not dead and we all now have a standard to strive to attain to.

As far as I know, in Russia, cryptocurrency is not legalized, in addition, it is planned to levy taxes. Perhaps this is why the team made this decision.
This does not deny the fact that at any moment it can stop exchanges and close.

thanks for the information

I meant, you had people hunting down Mark Karpelès like these guys from the US or London all the way to Japan.

So buying an ad on a forum is not much in comparison,  I don't understand why people are surprised by it (granting he's saying the truth).

If somebody had stolen my money, I would probably seek to get revenge and writing such post is an option. I'm not shocked he bought an add and try to make bad buzz.

Are you sure by the way it's an illegal business in Russia ? I know other spb based companies like these...

We can only handle the facts and statements of official ministries

2)
I'm sure that all their customers risk money.
Why do these people pretend and change their names? In Russia, cryptocurrencies do not have a legal status. There is no legislation about this.

Moreover, the authorities's official attitude to cryptocurrencies is extremely ambiguous. Some authorities call for everything to be legitimized. Others require strict punishment of people employed in the crypto business.

Crypto-currencies are issued by an unlimited circle of anonymous entities. Due to the anonymous nature of the issuance of crypto-currency, citizens and legal entities may be involved in illegal activities, including legalization (laundering) of proceeds from crime and financing of terrorism.

In accordance with the information message of Rosfinmonitoring posted on the official website of www.fedsfm.ru, the use of crypto-currencies in transactions is the basis for considering the issue of classifying such transactions (transactions) as transactions (operations) aimed at legalization (laundering) of proceeds received by a criminal way, and the financing of terrorism.
...

Due to the lack of legislative and judicial practice, the work of cryptoexchange can be attributed to illegal banking. This will depend solely on the considerations of the state investigator or prosecutor. It is worth noting that the application and interpretation of laws in Russia is extremely floating and unstable.

The Russian Interior Ministry reported on the detention of three people in Kostroma Oblast, who, as stated in the department, "carried out illegal banking activities by using one of the international payment systems and a site for the exchange of bitcoins." They are charged under part 2 of Article 172 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal banking activities committed by an organized group), the maximum penalty for it is seven years of imprisonment.
...

Therefore, it is somewhat dangerous to engage in crypto business in Russia. At a time when your transaction has been delayed for some reason, people in masks can break into the exchanger's office and your money will likely become material evidence for years to come.

You can never be sure that these masked people will not come to them because of illegal banking activities or non-payment of taxes.

It has been great helping sustain pressure on the Changelly, Changenow and Atomic Swaps group of scamming thieves. The OP got his funds back and was generous enough to part with a huge chunk of it to various people throughout the threads that helped him or made positive posts for him.

Nobody asked to receive anything, the OP is a very generous man and made payments to users to say thanks.

In the end we owe him gratitude because thanks to him we have got solid evidence that Changelly, Changenow and Atomic Swaps are part of the same group of companies operated by the same people that selectively scam people by throwing the KYC card when it suits them.

I am done with this thread, time to UNWATCH but wish you all keep your crypto safe and do not use Atomic Swaps, Changenow or Changelly. Uninstall Atomic Swaps if you have that software on your device.

AFAIK such rules in their terms are irrelevant, you can sue them wherever they conduct business and you can surely sue them in place where they're psychically located (PO box/ virtual office doesn't count as psychical location). Such rules are put in T&Cs to scare people away from suing.

Find their real location and start sueing them there.

Based on their website they require KYC (don't know if it was in the past too ,you would need to check in archive) but what i can tell from reading their terms is that their terms are no binding to you since they provide no company name or adress in their terms. It means there is no partner to make a binding contract with which leads that the terms are useless / not being executed.

Am of course no lawyer and not giving any advice on law but i'm  pretty sure i'm right on this.

Bittrex had a similar issue freezing accounts without having in their terms which they changed afterwards but i know for a fact some people hired a lawyer and got quickly their funds back.

If you are sure they are located in St.Petersburg send to them some people to make a visit and take pictures to expose them....

What is extremly funny and massiv worrying is the fact that they claim to be in Malta and theirfor are implementing KYC

Quote
Changelly is officially incorporated in Malta and our activity is fully compliant with Malta legal framework

but if thats true then why do they have this one on their terms ?

Quote
Any dispute, controversy, difference or claim arising out of or relating to the Terms, including the existence, validity, interpretation, performance, breach or termination thereof or any dispute regarding non-contractual obligations arising out of or relating to it shall be referred to and finally resolved by arbitration administered by the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) under the HKIAC Administered Arbitration Rules in force when the Notice of Arbitration is submitted.
The law of this arbitration clause shall be Hong Kong law.
The seat of arbitration shall be in Hong Kong.
The number of arbitrators shall be one. The arbitration proceedings shall be conducted in English language.
Other than class procedures and remedies discussed below, the arbitrator has the authority to grant any remedy that would otherwise be available in court. Any dispute between the parties will be governed by these Terms and the laws of Hong Kong, without giving effect to any conflict of laws principles that may provide for the application of the law of another jurisdiction.
Whether the dispute is heard in arbitration or in court, you will not commence against Changelly a class action, class arbitration or representative action or proceeding.

I highly doubt this is matching Maltas terms in any possible way and more important based on their terms they don't allow you to open a class action, represetative action or class arbitration !!!!!! but only a arbitration in HK .

This is clearly a function to avoid legal punishment and to catch anyone wanting to open a lawsuite in HK arbitrage knowing they would lose their cases in other jurisdictions and could have serious trouble because of that.

Its clearly designed to protect their asses against people who got scammed

Also based from your social media links and picture you can clearly say they are russians.
vk.com is also mainly being used in russia.

Op at the moment is short of 11 BTC at the past rate. Changelly and gang knew what they doing. It's definitely something to think about when using or considering using all them exchanges.

I never thought about that before. At the time of the scam the OP has 100 BCH valued around 11 Bitcoin, I wonder how much that 100 BCH would have been worth in Bitcoin a couple of days ago. I am fairly sure the Op would have been at a loss and these scammers at Changelly, Changenow and Atomic Swaps would have made free money in the interim!

Probably. But OP's post is enough. I thought the exchange was actually very legit that it had promoted itself on the big cryptosites like coinmarketcap. They even have a buy button there going to changelly. Its just interesting to see that no one had investigate them thoroughly like OP did.

Pretty funny how someone will spend so much money and effort trying to discredit Changelly publicly?! Kinda seems counter intuitive if there's a dispute over held funds.

Perhaps Roger 'I call myself Bitcoin Jesus' Ver hired a troll army to damage the reputation of his venture's (Shapeshift) rising competitor? Tongue Not that it would be the first time for him to do so... Anyone remember the whole BCash debacle with all the faked, non-organic interest towards it?

I know.  Is the one who advertised this to bitcointalk.org?  Grin

@ni23457, how about exposing a few more scammers by paying for advertising. Surprisingly, you only follow these russian guys! For me it would be interesting to see the banners of other scammers here. You can find the list here. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0

I guarantee that as soon as I see another banner, I will not to consider you a person who acts in his own interests, trying to look respectable.

I think it's logical he's first trying to sort out his own affair - maybe if he gets his money back or lose all faith of that happening he'll become scam hunter and start doing what you're suggesting. But when there is still chance of getting his back he's focused on that, there is nothing strange in such behaviour.
