This is a nice suggestion. Although, it is actually more than 10, there are some that were from the same threads which I included as one and also the ones I saw in scam accusation are many which I included as one, and yet there are still many more I have but did not include when I noticed the OP was getting too bulky.

By just looking at his merit record you would had realized he got most of those merits recently (last couple of days), so you don't just expect him to handout those smerits immediately. He has done an impressive job already by not hoarding his smerit by sending out as much smerit as he has earned so I believe everything is good here.

Suggestion; OP how about meriting those posts you mentioned as under merited (talking about your 10 quoted posts) since you have received more smerits .

I think you may know how to calculate the merits received and the smerits sent, but you are basically posting about what you do not know. I recently received bundles of smerits especially when I posted about this merit source application, you want me to share it immediately as I received it in which you are totally wrong.

If you want to know more information about someone's merit and smerit history before posting what you do not know, try to dialogue with reputed members like Coin-1 to lead you the right way.

Charles-Tim earned 1649 merit and sent 791 smerit,
1649/2 = 824 smerit,
824-791 = 33 smerit ,
He owns 33 smerit, it should be able to send merit for those posts. However, only a few posts he sent merit. therefore admin won't receive the application yet.

I know that you are a valuable member of this forum, and that your work contributes to the quality of this forum.
I believe that your country Nigeria will soon get its own local section, so as a merit source you will be able to help your local community even more.
Theymos has recently, after a long wait, promoted a lot of new merit sources, so he probably won’t be promoting new merit sources so quickly, but when that happens I believe you’ll be among the chosen ones.

Yes, but sources will sooner or later get some even if they stay inactive. If you're not a source, you'll have to contribute a lot with constructive posts to earn the same sMerits.

But of course, even merit sources also run out of merits too. I have read some of them complain that way too. No amount of merit is ever enough for merit sources who are active on the forum. You're an active member of this community no doubt (sometimes I wonder if you do even find time outside this forum 🤔). It will be nice to get you on board as a merit source. I hope you get it so you can evenly spread out merit on posts and be a little more generous on quality posts rather than the stable 1 merit you always splash on them 🙄.

Along with this, Charles regularly receives a bonus in his subscription company, which suggests that he understands a lot. His own posts are very informative. And I think that by the same criteria, Charles will be able to evaluate other users in the future.

There are times I am left with 0 smerits, but recently having more than usual just because of the merits I received today, but the point is there are some quality posts that I will wish to merit but not having enough merits. Also, the main reason I request for this is because I am very active on this forum, I visit this forum frequently and such person will be able to do the work of merit source as I believe people welcome this with the quality posts I have contributed on this forum.

You are a good merit source, you are always trying your best, to be partial about sending smerit will not be appropriate, it is best the way you are sending it appropriately. After DdmrDdmr, you are the user that merited my post most, then The Pharmacist.

I am not in a hurry for this, even if it take long it is not bad so far merit sources are sending enough merits to other users, that is the aim of the merit system on this forum. But if theymos think that more merit sources are needed, I have applied now to let him know that I am willing to do the work, even if it takes months before approving it, but I know theymos will choose at the appropriate time which is what matters and I will want I could be among the people that will be selected at the time because I can be a good merit source.

Let me say yes, but only to quality posts, but some merits sources do have particular boards of focus while some are more general, but again what matters most is what we all know which is posts quality irrespective of the board merit sources are visiting.

If you contribute good posts continuously, you will not even fight to attain the merits you want, the merits will keep looking for you. When I was a newbie, I too have such thinking, some users included in their post that time how fast I will rank up. But, not to lie, I thought it would not be possible until it actually happened. What I did most was that I learn more and more and more about bitcoin, I read crypto news, I read normal news and use all what I am gaining to post on this forum as I am also learning from established members on this forum which also significantly helped me. Knowing more about bitcoin will certainly help.

It's of no doubt you have been an active member on the forum and the level of your quality posts is worth recommendable, your devoted efforts to the forum in giving your precious time, quality post, supportive ideas and contributions and meriting as required for a quality post is glaring to the eye.

Charles-Tim, bitmover, Poker Player, Little Mouse, DdmrDdmr, and igehhh I thank you for your clarification and meaningful explanation regarding the assumptions in my comment above. I know that my assumptions may not be correct and many of you will not agree with me because it is weak enough to lift. But the point is from the start I've supported the Charles-Tim app.

As a newbie rank user, I also have a desire to get the attention of high ranking users to gain merit and maybe other beginners also have the same desire. Post quality is an absolute requirement for merit and it has been advocated since the first merit system was implemented based on the quote I read above. Regardless of ranking and distinguishing beginners and old members, the quality of posts will determine the merits of users.

I've looked at the list of contributors who give merit to beginners (myself included) because bitmover suggested I see them. They are all nice and care about the community although not all beginners will make it to high rankings for various reasons. That's a great list from Coin-1.

So I hope you don't raise the assumptions in my post above as a complaint because I'm just give a suggestion that may not be of value from me. I will learn a lot from all of you, but I think I should put in extra effort to at least be able to stalk you from a distance.

I have earned 16 merit now and I am eligible to rank up as a member if I have enough activity. I thank whoever has given me the merit. Still have to fight hard to get 1000, but for sure I have to fight boredom and maintain consistency and improve the quality of my next post.

First and foremost, you definitely have my support in your desire to be a merit source, I mean, you make very high quality posts and you've earned a pretty large number of merits in the short time you've been on the forum, thus since you post quality, you'll definitely not fumble in handing out merits to good/quality posts; I know it takes Theymos quite a lot of time to select new merit sources, but I hope your case is different, and you get considered sooner rather than later.

Having said that, I think that good users' applications for merit sources should be considered by the admins more often, I believe many users are quite discouraged by how long it takes for new merit sources to be selected, I know the admin is trying to be very careful so as not to select users who have ulterior motives as merit sources, but if a good user that can somewhat be trusted makes an application, I feel it should be considered, and if selected, the user would definitely be under the radar and his merit source privileges can be withdrawn if there are too many incidences of suspicious merit transactions.

I strongly doubt there is any user whom is some worth regular on the forum that will not have encountered the user Charles-Tim. His been active from day one as far as I can tell and you can tell the user contributes good too. A simple scroll on the users profile and you can tell that, Charles-Tim frequents the boards, not excluding the technical discussion boards for which, many users in this forum can't even comment or comprehend a discussion. I have gotten quite a few merits from the user too and the user has earned a lot more for a Hero Member in less time which proves Charles-Tim's activeness and contributions to the forum.

On the note of Charles-Tim being a frequent user of the forum (which implies more post and replies on posts are most likely not to escape the user), versatile enough to participate in various discussions (which imples the user's comprehension and judgment is of good quality), the user has got a good trust rating and now, the burning desire to reward quality posts and promote original content which is cherished by the forum and in turn discourages plagiarism, I think the user is a good applicant for a merit source.

I support this applicant for a merit source.

I also support the merit source application. You are still somewhat new, but you are helpful and very active. And you use your sMerit well.


Actually the number of boards and sub boards doesn't matter. Imho what matters is how active he is (so he can spend the merit), and trusted (so he won't do strange things with the merit) and knows to find/appreciate the good/worthy posts.

I'll support this. I know Charles-Tim since we were both forum newbies and wanted to grow and reach higher targets. I find Charles a contributor in this forum as he dedicates lots of hours and tries to help newcomers. We both do it anyways and haven't stopped being satisfied by the knowledge we acquire in our stay; it's nice seeing him wanting to distinguish himself by obtaining a prestigious position.

This isn't the reason, though. I've noticed he chooses to merit properly. He accomplished receiving lots of merits this year and I can say he distributed them as they should have been by a source.

I fully support your application to be a merit source, Charles-Tim.  You're a good member of the forum, and the fact that you want to be able to hand out more merits than you're currently able to should be pretty much all the qualification you, personally, need.  Don't know why there's even a requirement to quote all of those posts you found merit-worthy, because it just seems like a superfluous pain in the ass.  Theymos is probably familiar with you as a member since he reads posts in Meta, so he ought to know you're a good candidate.

Theymos, please add this man to the list of merit sources!  This forum needs more of them.

Any member who contributes to the forum and is active on a daily basis is a good choice for a merit source - especially if it is active on multiple boards as is the case with @Charles-Tim. A little more statistics from BPIP

Maybe the timing isn't the best because new merit sources were appointed about a month ago. But we never know what theymos has up his sleeves and hopefully he will put you on the list the next time he decides to make some changes in the number of merit sources.   

It never hurts to ask. When I got appointed as a merit source, I actually sent a PM to theymos asking him in which board/boards he expects me to find merit-worthy posts. He replied by saying that he didn't have any particular boards in mind. Generally, I don't think merit sources are appointed to merit posts in a specific sub. I just merit what I like as I am browsing and posting on the forum.  

That's not the main criteria buddy, theymos don't mind you been focused just on one board but provided you can assure him of meriting (only) quality posts when you encounter them, you'll be given a slot.  That's why you're required to provide 10 posts that haven't received enough merit that'll be used to judge you in what you deem fit to be called quality and meritable.


Again he didn't specify that those posts should be taken from all angles of the forum, meaning it can be a specific board. Infact when I applied to be a source I focused on just one board, took all my ten post from that board and it was enough to give me a slot.

Ps: You must have a good meriting record, meaning if you have interest in been a source, you have to pay attention to the type of post you merit and not just meriting  because byou have smerits.
