Nothing changes with 13.12 drivers in miner folder. I got hynix memory. I will try set on swap 16 gb and test it. Btw can we mine without swap, i got 16 gb physical memory and ssd, so swap for me also is not good ?

I set 16 gb swap and nothing changes...

Hey,

thanks for all your hard work.

I've been using the 3.3 version a bit and it seems hashrate on my 270s dropped by 1ß%. I think it's because overclocking is disabled?

Switched back to 3.1 and I'm back to my normal hashrate (1kh for 3 270s). Also cards are a bit cooler.

Can you bring back that feature?

I have the same cards on a rig with 13.12 : 470H/s per card (280X)
but 280H/s with 14.6, with or without the opencl files in the directory.

VTX card, Hynix memory.

I have 3 rigs with 14.6, with the 13.2 opencl files in miner directory, 470H/s per 280x,2260H/s with 6X 270
When without the opencl files speed going low .

This trick with files works for me. Today I will do more tests.

It's very easy to make miner use 13.12 even if you have installed 14.x:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.7196535
Just copy "amd_opencl64.dll" and "amdocl64.dll" from v13.12 to miner folder.
Probably I need to put it to OP.
That don't work for me, still poor hashrate (i have 14.6 on one computer only, but still)

Probably it means that the reason is not in drivers version but in Elpida memory on your card(s).

Mining MCN on minergate needed...
Minergate added MCN.
Currently 3.4 miner not support MCN.

it was a problem of the pool instead of miner.

Can you post your *.bat file for MCN mining on MinerGate???

Claymore, please check 14.6 driver for AMD. I get 385 h/s per card. I use 3x270X (Sapphire Toxic)

Yeah, i got 1160 h/s for 3 - R9 290 on 14.4 (Win 8.1 64 bit).  So almost 400 h/s each one  Sad

I'm gamer sometimes, so 13.12 for me is impossible...

I get 740 h/s on 290x 4Gb Hynix, 1000 core 1250 mem.

Thanks! OK. And what is type of memory hynix? DDR3-1333 mhz, or DDR3-1600 mhz?
Maybe it's not the most memory, and its type of frequency?
For example there is a Corsair memory frequency DDR3-2400mhz.
Maybe the more mhz is better, 2400, than 1600, what do you think about it?

...what?

GPU ram, not system ram.

Bummer about the elpida memory. Also sucks that stilts BIOS does not work for me either.

Claymore, Anyway of getting around this via programming? Perhaps another BIOS would work or are we simply SOL?

After some research I can confirm that the reason of bad performance is Elpida memory type on GPU, not only 280x is affected but all cards.
I compared several 290x cards with Elpida and Hynix memory:
Stock 290x Elpida - 650 h/s.
Stock 290x Hynix - 740 h/s!
The bottleneck of CryptoNote PoW implementation on GPU is memory latency, Hynix memory is really much faster than Elpida. Latest GPU-Z shows memory type so you can check it easily.

Yea, it's really cool news!
Claymore, say please, and how much memory do you have (2, 4, 8 gb)? And what is bandwidth hynix in mhz 1600, or more?

I get 740 h/s on 290x 4Gb Hynix, 1000 core 1250 mem.
increasing gpu ram speed help to get more hash?

edit:it does but not too much
