Sound good, yeah "Stratum Protocol"
could be included in the standard client one day so that all ppl can be servers for the thin clients based on the protocol
edit: there is a small chance that gateways to bitcoin network collecting some fees for their services ? would be a real incentive to run a full node that supports thin clients based on the proposed overlay protocol

Slush, is there an announce thread I can follow to get updates about the actual project?
If this is what I think it is, it's a great idea and will make developing clients that much easier.
