when Vircurex screwed us up the loss in $ was almost 5 m dollars, at todays' price just a little above 1.1m-
what a bargain for kumala! time for him to buy some cheap coins on the market and reimburse the holders!

I could understand wanting to buy the codebase and rewriting/expanding on it... but you'd absolutely have to abandon the name.

Running an exchange is already a big uphill battle to earn trust and respect on its own. To start so far into the hole, would be foolish. Sorry.

why do you want to buy it? there are bad news and bad articles spread over the internet with the name "vircurex" ... better start a new project, new codebase and new name! altcoin exchange market is very crowded right now and some new exchanges already closed again because they didnt even make enough money to pay the server bills

I am thinking about BUYING Vircurex and making it work again, gaining trust and making it a actually GOOD, SECURE and TRUSTWORTHY exchange.

Whose with me?

I am being serious.

Would be nice to get Vircurex on its feet again.

Vircurex has some currently-shafted shareholders too.

Conveniently, this loss Vircurex had, apparently occurred shortly after the end of the IPO... with Kumala having had agreed, to not take dividends for himself for a year... so guess who ended up paying off the debt with their dividends? Yep... not Kumala...

Can you acquire vircurex but not acquire vircurex's debt?  Because I imagine you would start out wiped out.

Maybe you could license vircurex's code base.

If that happened I would probably be with you as a customer.  I miss Vircurex!

I guess I need to convert the 3 NVC in my old account to BTC, but then it won't meet the 0.01 withdrawal limit and would be destroyed by the 0.002 withdrawal fee in any case. Can there be an exception made to the limit and fee reduced to 0.0001 so the account can be closed without NVC destruction and horrible BTC loss?

Send your NVC to another exchange? At the least, Cryptsy and btce still support it.

Just a warning that Virc has been known to have disproportionately high withdrawal fees, so you may end up worse off by transferring NVC. I can't check the fees for you as they only show if you have a nonzero balance.

If you're hoping for an official response from Virc, I doubt it will ever happen here. Wink

it hurts the overall legitimacy of the exchange

Ensuring that the only people who got their funds out at the start were a few whales and a plethora of dust accounts (top and bottom account payout), is what hurt the legitimacy of the exchange. The moment they first announced they were implementing this practice I knew that they were intending to screw the rest of their customers over.

Worst.Repayment.Plan.Evar.

Oh, yes, let us not forget their dishonest use of announcing one date for the account freeze to take place and then implementing it a day later, you know, when a whole bunch of people had transferred funds in thinking it had already taken place. Nice touch guys, thanks for that.
and then going public selling VCX shares, which according to the exchange prices at the time, generated a lot of excitement, only soon after to announce the 'hack' after taking the IPO funds, and then stick it to us shareholders to shoulder the burden of the shortfall.

The fact that he is so uncommunicative on both VircureX and CryptoStocks, only underscores how little he gives a shit about his businesses and us as customers/investors at this point... problems (like the email system) go left unattended to for weeks, and when they are brought back online, they are soon broken again... down more than they are up... and the entire time, he doesn't say jack shit.

He's been phoning it in for a long time now... he doesn't care, and doesn't want to keep operating his businesses, and he should just liquidate or sell them off to someone who does... TODAY...

I made a request for some kind of ETA. No response. I understand an unwillingness to discuss the process since it hurts the overall legitimacy of the exchange even this long after the event but shit I've been waiting a long time and the value has halved and opportunities are gone. The least one could expect is a 'you sit somewhere in the nth percentile and should expect a return sometime in the next 6 - 12 months.

Or at the very least a polite, 'I'm sorry we are unable to offer a ETA at this time.'

The silence is deafening.

You forgot to factor in the rising difficulty. As more exchanges open, less coins will be traded here.  Roll Eyes
