I work somewhere that limits access to the dhcp system via mac addresses, surely there will be logs showing the SP20 trying to connect and being rejected. Unless you don't have access to that system.

The SP20 is setup differently to other miners in that it needs DHCP to get its IP address, some others like the Bitmain kit comes with a preset IP address, which requires a different set of hoops to jump through

Can you get to the Myminer.io page at all or page can't be found? Perhaps you have some web content filtering of proxy action happening at the perimeter.

Without an IP assigned to it it wont' respond, you need a DHCP server running to have an IP address assigned to it.

I thought I got the actual MAC (probably not) of the miner by doing the wireshark trick and whitelisted it, but apparently it's not the MAC here as I couldn't connect to any of the devices on the network via a browser. Anyway, I got a router in the mail - hopefully tomorrow should work!

well, your laptop won't give it an IP address if it is not running a DHCP server,

but maybe you can try to

ping the broadcast address of the network your laptop lives in, something like:

ping 192.168.1.255

then issue a

arp -a

which should show you the arp table and, maybe, the mac address of your miner.

Otherwise, install wireshark and with it running and capturing, connect the sp20 and power it on, it should try to find a DHCP server and you should be able to see its mac address.

Give this a try using windows built in DHCP

So if you can get to it on another network you could easily get the mac address and use it on the network you want after.

Welp, I guess I'll have to buy a router then. Is there any way I can view its MAC address by just plugging it directly to my laptop via ethernet?

Give this a try using windows built in DHCP

Plug it in then go to myminer.io it should show the device and IP there

Thanks guys, but I'm trying to connect this to a workspace network that requires me to add the MAC address of it to work, and I don't see it despite being being connected to the same network. (probably because the router rejects its connection). I tried connecting the LAN cable to my laptop directly, but I can't seem to find it either.... any ideas?

If you are able to connect to it through a different network it says to far right side once connected:
