between a rock and a block!
2. Have ordered an A20, so wondering if you are working on an image for it? If no one starts this before I can get to it, I may start trying to port MinePeon to the device.
That would be great! I've already asked in the official Prisma and MinePeon threads about it, but no response (yet).
you can install your choice of OS image on the cubie and then install the cgminer on it...
I think cubie has a website with all kinds of software packages: http://cubieboard.org/download/
Interesting, never heard of Cubieboard before, but I've just taken a look, and it's rather expensive, isn't it?

The control unit should be low budget, powerful enough to drive at least 4 Prismas (better would be 5, then you only need two control units for a set of 10 Prismas), easy to put AM's cgminer version and a miner OS with web-GUI on (meanwhile I think Minera looks more promising than MinePeon, which hasn't been updated since March).

This all is very exciting, but time consuming for me as I don't have enough time to follow my hobbies right now. As said before, it does not make sense for every Prisma buyer to reinvent the wheel himself, and I have hopes that someone will step up and prepare a ready to use image with Minera + AM's cgminer version for Prisma, then I would just buy whichever controller hardware is supported.
well , the "expensive" depends on many things.... For example, a single A10 runs 4 rockminer R3/4 units like a champ with no similar USB bus issues as compared to a Pi.
so if you run four R4s with 4 Pis, then one Cubie A10 is cheaper than having to buy 4 Pis. (you can'r run 4 R3/4s with 1 Pi for ex.)
with Tubes/Prismas, it may be a similar situation, but until we have tested this thoroughly, we just don't know yet.
and also, you can use whatever you have to run cgminer, it's not necessary to go out and start buying Pis or cubies to run prisms... if you have a laptop or a system that can run cgminer, you can use that...

I could just do that, but wouldn't be nice to have a pretty web GUI.

Arch has a supported build for it so we can build on what MineForman has made with the Pi and maybe make it better.

Does cgminer do the firmware upgrades to the boards or are we going to need the Ethernet controller to do that?

for question number 3.

I had the short tubes and I was able to use 2 psu's on 1 tube.

Each short tube has 4 sides   each side has 2 pcie jacks

Never plug in two psu's to 1 side

but 1 psu plugged into 2 sides and 1 psu plugged into   the other 2 sides is safe

Always leave 1 pcie jack of the two jack  on each side  empty and you will never fuck up.

look at the side with 2 red pcie plugs  in the two jacks.     this is safe with the same psu.   DEATH if  you do this with 2 different psu's

I thought I had read about someone doing it with the Tube but could not remember.  The tube was just not enough bang for the buck with it's controller issues.  I use ghash.io and the "last pool in a thousand lakes" so was not keen possibly only being able to mine there with it. Mainly these will but put up for rental at MRR.

Hey Canery,

1. Does each unit come with the USB device?  I am planning to deploy one at each of my sites so would need to control them separately.

2. Have ordered an A20, so wondering if you are working on an image for it?
If no one starts this before I can get to it, I may start trying to port MinePeon to the device.

3. Is it possible to split PSU these units?
I have several of the HP DL380 850W PSUs. What I was thinking was put two boards on each supply. Thus giving head room for overclocking.

I will be in for 2 just got to wait for transfer in from bank to Coinbase.

between a rock and a block!
And has the price been estimated already?

Looks like 1.47 + shipping (usually in the $20 range depending).

Just confirming, they don't come with PSU's right?
correct, no PSU is included... you have to provide a power source.
