Once again posting a warning.

I scrapped around 100 machines, and the scrapyard is trying to sell them as working units on Ebay.

These boxes were run hard for years, and were unreliable from the start.  Few, if any of them, went to scrap fully functional.

Saw one of these being listed on eBay. Was going to bid until I read all these posts about the hardware being very unreliable. Its weird because I always heards Terraminers were bullet-proof.

I have heard people report bad hardware too, but the one I received in March last year has been running strong ever since, and I've only had to reboot it twice since receiving it.

Not only that, but you need electricity less than .07 to make any ROI.

However, does anyone know how the law works with their bankruptcy because I actually owned the miner? Do they have to send it to me?

No, and no.  You'll need to read your contract very carefully, as that plays a pivotal role. In colocation cases, the contract will often either specify that you can collect your hardware in the case of a dissolution of contract, or if you're unlucky.. nothing at all.

If you're not in a position to collect it, even though the hardware is yours, they're typically not under any obligation to send it to you and incur further costs, taking away from their creditors.  However, they also tend to want to avoid further conflict and duress (they have your hardware, but they can't exactly just leave it sitting there, or move it to some warehouse with the expense of keeping track of it), so you should be able to work out having the hardware sent to you or to another location just to get it off of their list of headaches - if not at their expense, then at your expense (try to avoid that, though the contract may leave you no wiggle room there).
If you don't have a lawyer (or just don't want to pay for one), you can work with the trustee/liquidator (eventually) directly.  In either case, you should start collecting all information you have - the contract, any details about your hardware, etc. and start reading through it.

It looks like they don't check bitcointalk anymore, does anyone know if they still check [email protected]?

I had a Terraminer that they were hosting for me that has not sent anything since the end of December just like everyone that had their fixed hashrate hosting plans.

However, does anyone know how the law works with their bankruptcy because I actually owned the miner? Do they have to send it to me?

I don't really think it's worth too much, but it's better than the nothing I would get otherwise. Common sense tells me that I would be owed my property, but I am not a lawyer.

I'll send something to them as well.

Not a whole lot left that spin their own ASICs.

aaaaaaand it's gone!

I feel for the folks who bought GH/s off of them, or preordered the latest Cointerra 16 nm vapourware. Their situation is indeed unfortunate, but on a lighter note, my Terraminer 2.0 TH/s @ 1300 watts machine is still happily hashing away at 1.6 TH/s @ 2400 watts.

I'm fully aware of the significance of Jez San in the computing and video games industry, but how does any of this prove you are him? Googling "Jez San", will prove precisely nothing.

Is there a verifiable Jez San account on Linked In, or possibly twitter? Can we cross verify this, as I will state, for the record, that for aerobatic to be the actual Jez San is quite a claim (for those who are unaware of Jez San's significance as the entrepreneur behind Argonaut Software).

Hey Carlton... pm me your phone number and i will call you if you like.  i am definitely me.  i can prove it any way you like (thats not too much trouble.. so don't make me dance on some fiery object)

I can vouch that Jez is who he says he is. I'm an angel investor in CoinTerra and am in regular touch with him and the other angels. Based on all my sources I also have every reason to believe tape-out happened when announced. (My full name is Tuur Demeester)

I'm curious as to how many Angels got burned.

all of them?

Not efficient anymore.

Only .07 electricity can eek out a small profit for Terraminer 1.6 until next diff jump

Soon will be space heater only.

weirdly, thats a potentially good idea ;-)  its be awesome if instead of throwing away all the obsolete bitcoin mining hardware and wasting the resources they should all try and have a second life and be re-used to heat homes and businesses in cold places and used as fan heaters...  its awesome.  you consume the same electricity as a fan heater, you get the same amount of heat output as a fan heater...  and it costs you the same to run as an fan heater...   but, you get paid to run it.  thats sounds like a really good re-use strategy for old bitcoin mining hardware.   (of course, theres a noise problem so you need to site them somewhere other than the bedroom) or put acoustic baffles around them or something

they have a class action lawsuit against them so I would be very cautious about buying anything or putting any money into this company.

I received an email from them telling me that there would soon be an update on the class action lawsuit.

Could you post that email here?

holy shit! they are still alive over there. today they finally came out with a new firmware since March

I hope so that they will be out of any business. Cointerra is SCAM and an professional company.

I will not supply that information, as I mentioned earlier. Your warranty
ran out on May 28th 2014. I do not want to give advice on how to take apart
and re-assemble the miner, if you hurt yourself or the miner, or have any
other issue it opens us up for liability; as I said before. We have a
non-warranty repair service as I said. Since the issue is hardware, the
hardware needs to be replaced, no amount of me talking to you is going to
change that.

Did you read my request AT ALL?Huh

"Ok, please provide me information, or direct me to the company where I can place request for ordering spare parts for Cointerra units."

I want to remind you that you as a manufacturer have a legal duty to consumers to provide spare parts or to direct them where they can purchase spare parts, for a minimum of one year from the expiration of the warranty, or after the cessation of production units.

It's obvious that you don't have any technical or service support, and I don't have any other solution but to contact Bureau of Consumer Protection.

Also, now I know why some Cointerra ex consumer wrote something like this:

"They suck as a company, my Cointerra has been hacked and is only running at 50% hashing capacity. The other 50% is hashing for some hacker and not matter what I do I can't seem to restrict access. Cointerra gave me instructions on a recovery process that should kick this hacker out but that failed to do the trick. Cointerras response was there is nothing else they can do and has ignored all my emails and no one picks up the phone when you call. The employee who I was working is named Marshall and if he is reading this I have this message to you "GO FUCK YOURSELF". If you want to message him and fuck with him his email is [email protected]."

I am considering selling my Terraminer.  I bought it 6 months ago and while it worked OK for 4 months, I had a lighting strike in July that took out the Beagleboard.  I have it hooked up to a PC with the USB cables, but my hashing rate ranges from 300G - 1,100G.  Mainly it hovers around 500G - 600G.  I am going to slowly phase out of mining and want to know if anyone here has interest in purchasing my Terraminer.  Feel free to send me a private message if you are with a reasonable offer.

I can post pictures for anyone interested.

Thanks,

John
