Who cares bout that letter? 90% of coye owners can't even trade it cause crycurex is a mess.

I actually managed to get a wallet address last night for a BTC deposit (just a test with a few mBTC).  The deposit is confirmed but hasn't yet shown up in my Crycurex account.  I have emailed them about it.

I guess they're still doing everything manually as well as dealing with the added stress of the legal threat.

Agreed. And spreading fear is the only strong weapon TPTB has. History proofs that.

Thanks for the donations, thats why the Coinye community is the best, we're all in this adventure together

I want to see this succeed as much as everyone, he has a very weak case but if we don't have a proper response to the complaint he wins by default
Now we just need to find a lawyer in the community that can assist Wink
The best course of action is an affirmative defense, forget trying to stick it to him or piss him off for the little bit of free press thats left, look at the BIG picture, if he loses the suit to the coinye community, thats a whole fresh wave of media coverage.....think about it Grin

Why won't anybody stand up to this C&D letter?! Especially, people who are based outside of the US?!

I mean, it can't matter shit if he is suing if you are not in the States..... or if he does drag you to court, then he will ultimately m=not even have a winnable case!

So I just read the entire complaint filed by Mr. Wests lawyers, several things, here we go:

Any confusion about an association between Kanye West and the cryptocurrency Coinye was quickly resolved after the C&D letter was received.

No monetary gains were realized from the alleged confusion about Mr. West's involvement, immediately after the cease and desist letter was received, the name was changed from "Coinye" to "COYE", all mining pools as well as the original website for Coinye posted large disclaimers on their sites clearly stating there was no association with Kanye West, the cartoon image of Mr.West was removed. Furthermore the media frenzy that has ensued since the filing of the complaint has been brought on by the plaintiff and his attorneys. The thousands of articles, news reports and blog post about the legal actions has made it more than evident to the world that Kanye West has no part in said currency whatsoever.

In addition the plaintiffs attorney makes the claim that "Mr. West's reputation is irreparably harmed by the continued use of the COINYE WEST, COINYE and/or COYE marks".
Any damage to Mr. West's reputation has come from his own actions. Mr. West is a dangerous individual with a history of physical violence including arrests for assault in September 2008, November 2008, July 2013 and most recently the assault of a teenager he allegedly punched "20 or 30 times".

Furthermore Kanye West is no stranger to copyright infringement. Mr. West has been the defendant in numerous copyright infringement lawsuits, including but not limited to Vincent Peters v Kanye West, Richard Spicer v Kanye West, Sly Johnson v Kanye West, TufAmerica v Kanye West, ect.

Seeing as Mr.West's has recently adopted the moniker "Yeezus" as well as branded his new album and music tour with the same name and even went as far as to bring out an actor dressed as Jesus Christ to further the afilliation. As well as the trademark infringement suit filed against him in 2006 by Robert "Evel" Knievel, for using his likeness in his "Touch The Sky" music video, it would seem he should have no issues with Coinye.

Mr. West's legal history would indicate to some, including himself, because of his celebrity status that he is above the law. Mr. West and his lawyers have made a mockery of legal system as well as created doubt about justice for the people of the United States of America and around the globe.

Please feel to use any or all of this for a response to the filed complaint (you might have to clean it up a little and format it properly)

also in reference to the evel knievel law suit:

In December 2006, Robert "Evel" Knievel sued West for trademark infringement in West's video for "Touch the Sky." Knievel took issue with a "sexually charged video" in which West takes on the persona of "Evel Kanyevel" and attempts flying a rocket over a canyon. The suit filed in federal court claims infringement on his trademarked name and likeness. Knievel also claims the "vulgar and offensive" images depicted in the video damage his reputation. The suit seeks damages and to stop distribution of the video. West's attorneys argued that the music video amounted to satire and therefore was covered under the First Amendment. Just days before his death in November 2007, Knievel amicably settled the suit after being paid a visit from West

For those of you who have no idea how the real world works:  Roll Eyes

So, Kayne wants to sue someone outside of the US. In order to actually be able to hold them in court, you would have to travel to the country of origin and employ a lawyer who is a citizen of that nation and hold court in that nation, and even then the chances of them pursuing any action without you being a national citizen yourself are slim to none. There's this little thing called "In Absentia"  here in the US that allows court cases to proceed without the defendant in a case like this -- but only in the US. Sure, they started a civil lawsuit -- that's only enforceable in the US. Criminal court is a little more flexible when it comes to cross-country cases, but civil courts have no jurisdiction outside of US borders and the only way for the suit to have any grounds is if

A. the defendant has dual citizenship for both the accusing and origin nations
B. the defendant has a business within US borders

Really now, there's no reason to make something so simple so complicated with all the idiotic interjections and speculations. You should have noticed in that paperwork that one of the main defendants is Amazon.com, the only reasonably-vunerable defendant in the US......clearly Kanye is butthurt that he can't win, and now is going on a witchhunt to save his reputation and not fall into the gayfish stereotype.

Bingo. Couldnt have been spelled out any clearer. We will get the last laugh...don't worry guys. That gayfish has zero clue as to the system that is cryptocurrency.

Also, we have Vox-exchange coming soon. Very very soon. It is 1000x better with automated everything that can handle a good load. It will have KOI (COYE)/BTC, KOI/LTC, and KOI/DOGE markets along with a bunch of other coins. Also, the dev has a spine. He already said in IRC that he isnt backing down to bullshit scare tactics.

Also have cryptorush.in which is another amazing exchange that will be up and running soon. In the mean time we have tipperbots being worked on and tutorials and all kinds of new stuff never before tried with other currencies.

So, was that letter from Kanye's lawyer that was posted earlier real?

Why doesn't it say anything about it on the Crycurex site?

I have not seen any evidence of a letter or any indication from Crycurex. Crycurex still lists COYE.

I guess someone attempting to use scare mongering  tactic ... nothing in the attached image indicates anything regarding I Crycurex anyway and even if i'm not wrong Crycurex is not even a US registered site to begin with so... that email/letter doesnt really matter.

I agree that it's probably scaremongering. It's very probable that it's not even from the lawyers and the lawyers don't even know what crycurex is. However, no matter the source, it has the admin running scared:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.4675345

This is HIS post that he will remove COYE. I understand from a logical perspective it is unreasonable to delist just because of a questionable email letter, especially if you're not in the US, but I got a confirmation from him in IRC. so unless he has changed his mind (which is possible) he will be delisting. This is HIS decision, because yes, he is scared of legal action (however improbable). We just have to deal with this when it happens.

Thank you for linking the source.

Still listed right now. Not sure if I should trade my 1.5 million for the BTC or hold on...

Coye will have to get listed on one of the more established exchanges probably.... something like cryptsy or bter.
