Yesterday's result could have been a penalty if Colombia's defense had not broken down and attacked. In the final 30 minutes, Colombia became more aggressive in their pursuit of goals, leaving them with just two in defense and everyone else attacking, a cruel irony of Colombia's fortunes. If the defense was not broken and the attack did not go, then tomorrow's match, if the next 15 minutes were scoreless, the match would have been decided by penalties, there would have been any result, either Argentina or Colombia would have won. However, Colombia competed very well but did not end up being champions. Congratulations to Colombia in the next Copa America to serve well and become champions.
Yes, you are right, Colombia was very attacking yesterday, all players tried to attack which is why they lost. Colombia played very well yesterday, Possession Colombia was ahead. Until 90 minutes, both teams were tied without goals. The game was tied until the first half of the last 30 minutes, I thought the game would go to a penalty shootout but Martínez scored in the 112th minute to give the team the win. I expected as much from Argentina team but Argentina did not perform like that in the final. Colombia players played very well, Colombia had bad luck so they lost.
I think both teams are equally trying to win the 2024 Copa America title. The way the Copa America final was going, we thought it might end in a penalty shootout. Not since 1937 has a Copa America final been scored in extra time, but in the 2024 Copa America final, Argentina's Lautaro Martínez scored in the 112th minute of extra time. Which will be considered as a unique record. Even Martinez, who performed poorly in the FIFA World Cup and the previous Copa America, is the hero of this year's Copa America title and has even been selected as the best player in the 2024 Copa America.

I decided to close this thread already to avoid spam, so no one can spam here. But when the Copa America starts again in the future, this thread will be opened guys.

The team which did not win any international trophy for 28 years is now winning back to back international trophies. First, by winning the Copa America against Brazil, Argentina ended this 28-year misery, then the World Cup again in the Copa America, which means they have achieved everything one by one in this long period. Because of this poor performance of Argentina, Argentina was trolled a lot and now it is floating in the ocean of praise. Argentina's late-match win over Colombia in the Copa America final helped them clinch another season's Copa America title. Argentina is the only team to have won the most titles in Copa America history.
Congratulations to Argentina for such a consistent performance to take home another international trophy.

Congratulations to Argentina and Messi, one of the best players in the world, let be honest Argentina tried their best in this final, although I have been saying that they haven’t faced any strong opponent in the tournament and that is why they can reach the final level and that is the truth, they haven’t been facing a tough opponent since the beginning of the tournament but in this final of this tournament they fight for the title and they win it, Colombia dominates the game from the beginning but they don’t have the mentality of scoring goal in the game, and due to some substitutions that the coach did make Colombia performance change in the game.

I believe if it was a team like Brazil or Uruguay that played against Argentina it would be very difficult for Argentina to win the title because Argentina also knows that Uruguay and Brazil are the only teams that can defeat them, this Copa America is so boring, I don’t know if this is how they have been playing in this tournament, there are a lot of cards, violence in the tournament, even the fans and the players are fighting, that tournament needs a proper organized and security if not one day something that they don’t expect can happen.

It would have been such a sad moment for Messi if Argentina lost, he got injured without much impact, just unfortunate moment and all his life he would have thought "if I was more careful we could have won one more time" if they lost. In the end, we saw how Messi is so important for that team, we saw that they were having trouble with playmaking and distributing the ball at the opponent half, but they finally got the score.

I always said that Argentina will be a good team even without Messi at Copa America, maybe world cup would be harder, but at Copa America, they didn't win even with him for many years, and then won two in a row, I think it should be noted that we cold probably see them have some cups after him too.

It was really sad to see Messi being in pain and having no choice other than being subbed off. He cried after that also but Argentina still became champions without him too as you said.  Smiley

Together with this trophy, Argentina have won their 16th title in Copa America. Now they have 1 more title than Uruguay. Brazil are a little behind these teams as for the number of titles here. If they don't improve their game much more, it is likely to stay that way too. I really haven't liked them in this tournament and I wonder what they will do in the World Cup qualifiers as of now. You know they have made a terrible start there.  Sad

Brazil have been marked as the worst team this season, as they are currently losing to any team. Such performance should never be expected from Brazil team but currently they are performing so badly. If they don't perform well this season, they will be weaker in the future, but Argentina team has performed well this Copa America. And after this long competition in the final they won but everyone was disappointed, because the Colombian team is a massive backup. A few mistakes by the Colombian team have seen them eliminated from this season's Copa America title.

Columbia was constantly trying to make goals but none was going in I understand that they are very passionate and wanted to bring back the win home. It has been two decades since their last championship after all. I would say both teams played really well and gave us an entertaining game to watch

Congratulations to Argentina for such a consistent performance to take home another international trophy.

They didn't win trophies for a long time, even with Messi, but recently they have made up for their shortcomings. The final was a game where both teams avoided making mistakes and took few risks. Messi's injury made Argentina think that things would go badly for them, but they managed to win the match.

The match was very competitive, as Argentina were in complete disarray when Messi went off with an ankle injury. As frustration seeped through the Argentina team but they did not give up, the Colombia team was more confident. But the Colombian team lost because of this confidence and every play was aggressive and restless to score. In this opportunity, the players of the Argentine team were able to score, although there was a feeling of disappointment on the Argentina fans and players, except for Lionel Messi, it made the entire fans happy.

We will see in the upcoming tournaments what Argentina will be like without Messi and whether Argentina's success can continue without Messi in the team.

Of course it can continue because Lionel Messi's tears this season gave the players the most confidence. But without Messi, Argentina will be much weaker but will definitely succeed because Argentina team has many experienced players. But in the coming seasons, Di Maria and Messi will not be there because they are both eligible to retire, but the attacking department will be a little weaker, but it is more than likely that they will perform well in the future.

I saw Messi crying on the bench after being pulled out due to an ankle injury, he was worried that Argentina would lose without him but luckily in extra time Lautaro Martinez scored the only goal for Argentina's victory as well as winning the Coppa America this is the umpteenth trophy Messi has won he is really lucky.

Suppose Messi will retire in Argentina he will not regret it because he has got an important trophy at the end of his career World Cup and Copa America, and in addition Angel Di Maria has announced he will retire so this is a trophy for the last time, I hope Messi is still strong to face the 2026 World Cup.
Look at his foot, it's really a serious injury.

Both teams play really well, Colombia create many chance, but Martinez always able to block it and luckily Lautaro can score a goal on the extra time. Argentina deserve to win, probably in the next 2 years Colombia can become a champion.

However it's really crazy De Paul as the only one midfielder can play for 120 minutes even though he's already 30 years old.
First, I would like to congratulate Argentina on becoming champions in the 2024 Copa America, this is their 16th title in the Copa America and they have successfully defended the title they won in the previous edition.
Bad news came to their star player who was injured, it has not been confirmed whether the injury was very serious or not and only needed a short time to recover. However, judging from the swelling of his leg, it seemed like it was a serious injury that resulted in him having to be pulled out. I just hope there is no serious injury and he can return in a short time.
This match was quite fierce, Columbia put up serious resistance to Argentina. In fact, they were able to play without a goal for 90 minutes so it had to go to extra time. In the extra round, Argentina had a chance which they successfully converted into a goal and it was the deciding goal for them to become champions of the 2024 Copa America.
It was a thrilling match. At first my prediction was that maybe Argentina would seal their victory within 90 minutes but the match was very competitive. For the whole 90 minutes Colombia were able to keep their defense strong and try to constant  attacking . Although Argentina won 1-0, it must be said that Colombia played well. On the one hand Argentina was at the top of the form, on the other hand Colombia was also unbeaten in the games for their country for about 27 matches. Colombia was excellent in the group stage as well. James Rodríguez had high hopes that they would be able to fulfill their dream this year, their dream did not come true. But I'm sure if any team other than Argentina could have reached the final, Colombia would have won the Copa America this time. However, the world will praise this great achievement of Argentina.

Great game last night.  Missed on my bet with a Messi goal but can't catch them all hit with Argentina.  Congrats to mulessi grabbing another major tourny win.  He cemented his legacy with that world cup win but this is nice icing on the cake.  Thought this game was gonna go to penalties the way it was going.

Back 2 back 2 back champions for Argentina! 2x Copa america and 1x World Cup. What an amazing journey has been for them and I can't wait to see Finalissima in 2025 between Spain and Argentina because this final should bring top football but with current form , I doubt anyone can stop Spain.

Spain are just too good and I don’t think Argentina can stop them even when they meet to play. Argentina may have won the Copa America in the final match yesterday against Colombia, but it wasn’t an easy one for them either as the goal was scored in the extra minute when we were all hoping the game will end in a draw and leads us to a penalty shootout. It was a nice timed win for Argentina and big congratulations to them for achieving that victory.

Now , with both Euro and Copa America gone , we the fans are a bit nostalgic right ? we used to watch football almost 24 hours per day for a month and now there is nothing to watch until top 5 Europe championships will start again.

We are use to it already. During this period, some pre season matches will go on which will not make us bored too much especially when it’s between two big teams and every coach is ready to test their newly signed players in the game before the real season begans.

The Colombian team played incredible football. If you consider a lot of parameters in this game raging from ball possession to passes completed before the end of the game, The Columbian side did an impressive job in this game, even though that the Argentine team were on top of their game as well, Kudos goes to the entire Argentina team who became victors at last and Argentina Lionel Messi who happened to witness another national trophy before the end of his football career.

Before that I want to congratulate Argentina who managed to retain the Copa America title. There is not much I want to say about this match, just one, an extraordinary match.

Lautaro Martinez is the key when Scaloni's strategy is deadlocked in every crucial match. Lautaro seems to be unable to play well when he is played as a starter like when he played against Ecuador in the quarter-finals.
This is not necessarily true, but this is just my assumption why Lautaro was played in the second half of normal time.
In fact, Lo Celso, who was brought on together with Lautaro in the 97th minute, was the player who recorded the assist for Argentina's winning goal scored by Lautaro.
Indeed, defending the title is the most difficult thing for any team to do, but Argentina managed to do it very impressively in the Copa America from the group phase to the final. In the final match against Colombia it was extraordinary, Argentina had the natural mentality to win the Copa America in a row.

Yes that's right. It must also be admitted that this victory cannot be separated from the foresight of Argentine coach Lionel Scaloni in making decisions. When almost all the players were tired, he introduced Lautaro Martinez in extra time as the main striker to replace the tired Juan Alvarez. As a result, in the 112th minute of added time, he managed to break through Colombia's goal with his only goal and Argentina became champions of the 2024 Copa America.

Lautaro played very little, but being able to top score is truly an extraordinary player, and Lautaro is the only player who can erase Lionel Messi's sadness and become a very happy person in a short time. In Serie A he also far outperforms other players in terms of goal productivity, Lautaro deserves the balloon d'or.

A great achievement for Argentina, it's thanks to Lionel Scaloni who handles his national team well he did a pretty great strategy in addition to Messi getting more titles at the end of his career.

These two finalists will meet later, I don't know when the schedule is, but this is a match that is awaited I feel Spain is better than Argentina after seeing the game between the two.
Congratulations to Argentina for the accomplishments of winning the Copa America. Lionel Messi is the undisputed GOAT in the world of football, he completed football few years back when he lifted the Qater 2022 world cup with Argentina, it was really consider a remarkable day for him. Forward to the present, he won the Copa America with Argentina and this time, he's more focused on increasing the numbers of international trophies with his country and he's doing the best contribution to the team.

I was cold for a moment when Messi and Dimaria was subbed off, the way Messi was weaping tears is like taking your boys to a war front only for your bullets to finish from your riffle and you are helpless because you have nothing to do but despite the way Columbia pressed them, Lautaro came true in the added extra minutes. The way he even included himself to the players even after the injury in the added extra time shows everything about Messi, football is really complete with him.

We will see in the upcoming tournaments what Argentina will be like without Messi and whether Argentina's success can continue without Messi in the team.

It's not like Messi is the only one taking the team to the final, Emiliano Martinez has played 43 games for Argentina and has 38 clean sheet. If not for his permance, I'm very sure that the last 3 trophies Argentina won wouldn't be possible. Remember that save Martinez did for Argentina during the last minute against France in the world cup, if not for him they wouldn't be having that World cup. Messi appearance only makes other teams feared because of his achievements and how good he his but all that are now in the past. The new players will do well with or without him.

Argentina have been so Favoured in recent years now and their climb into this blissful times have been because of the immense contributions of players of the team, i applaud their cooperation and teamwork and that's the reason they've got so successful and it's has also been memorable moments for the Argentine 8 time ballon D'Or winner Lionel Messi despite that he sustained an injury in the final against Columbia but he also contributed to the teams success in the just concluded Copa America.

Now Argentina have surpassed their rivals Uruguay, they both won the Copa America 15 times respectively before Argentina won this last one and now has 16 Copa America title. I admire their resilience and determination since the Copa America started till the end, they got good coach and players who are ready to keep moving the team forward.

Messi is a great player. And he is very experienced. There is no doubt that Messi is a very important player for the Argentina squad. Still I would say Argentina's current squad is strong enough. Even without Messi, this team is capable of playing well now. Martinez and Alvarez are now able to perform well. These two players are quite experienced now. There are also experienced midfielders like Mac Allister, Enzo Fernandez De paul. So I don't see any chance of underestimating Argentina's current squad. Also because the understanding between the Argentine players is very good. So Argentina as a team is now very strong.

Argentina played with good spirit and never gave up. They won the 2024 Copa America title with great difficulty, but in the end their efforts were rewarded by Martinez's only goal. Messi cried because he really couldn't accept being injured in the final when his country played against a really strong team, but he laughed in the end after Argentina ended the match with a 1-0 win over Colombia.

I was wondering why Lionel Scaloni didn't play Lautaro Martínez in the second half of normal time, even though Lautaro Martínez is the player who has helped Argentina win several matches with goals during the Copa America. Lautaro Martínez in the end really established himself as the top scorer as well as the hero of Argentina's victory in the final, he really cried because of that. Some older players will retire, but I'm not sure if Messi will announce it too.
Yes Messi was smiling again after Martinez's goal ensured Argentina won the Copa America.
That may be Lionel Scaloni's strategy why not play Lautaro Martinez in normal time but in the end the tactics applied by Lionel Scaloni by including Martinez were really effective, the proof is that the goal became the only winner.
Because some players are old, then he has to retire and the next generation of Argentina still has many talented players it's just that they need to play more to keep the mentality good.

Scaloni made completely correct substitutions, everyone correctly noticed that LO Celso made an assist for Lautaro Martinez, but it should also be noted Paredes, who came on as a substitute and made a selection and a pass to LO Celso. In general, the match was equal with a slight advantage for Argentina, but after Messi's injury, the Colombians had hope of winning, but Scaloni accurately assessed the situation and brought Argentina the Copa America with substitutions.
It should be noted that Argentina and Messi won 4 of the 8 finals in which they participated, and with Messi's departure, a new era begins in the Argentine national team.
