Well, that's the purpose of altcoins right? They are made to be better and much efficient and reliable than bitcoin. We all experienced these high fees (the fees depend whether if the security of the wallet is credible) but the slow process is really irritating. I remember waiting for about to weeks specially in small transactions. If bitcoin can't fix these problem and be stock on its inefficiency in system of bridging bitcoin to fiat and other altcoins then maybe we can consider other alts. In the meantime Im still holding to BTC.

Bitcoin will always have its place in the cryptoworld but its dominance is going to be replaced soon. Ethereum is currently the top contender but if not that then next year something else will probably rise up.

I haven't been here long, but from my research, I don't see bitcoin being replaced because of how long it took to get to this point. There might be other alt coins that reach the same price. And maybe in time they will have as many transaction as bitcoin. But bitcoin is the oldest and I think people will always respect that.

I'm always preaching this, you get a cookie, new sir Wink

It took us all this time to get to this point with bitcoin. We are flirting with new aths each week, and the capitalization is off the chain (apparently the traffic at Coinbase is off the chain too, LOL)  Besides Ethereum, which was just so much when it dropped that it captivated all the old heads (the fork, the Slock it shit, Lord, everything Wink L

There will be other coins. But bitcoin is king, and unless we do something stupid (like not scaling), it will remain king. Wink

And i guess they should recognized with there own terms and  not  just a thing next to bitcoin. Example is that ethereum should known as ethereum not as a second btc. Because aotcoins really has its own purpose to help the members and that makes famous in there own ways. Btc just the pioneered cryptocurrency and also embarked  the era of virtual gold. Thats why btc was the 1900 flying machine and it bas just evolved to airplanes and others by other innovators.

Bitcoin could be replaced by another crypto alt coin, that is a fact. But not now, just see how many persons are adopting bitcoin, they don't are interested in alt coins, they want bitcoin, it's the most trusted crypto-currency and won't change so fast.
What doesn't mean it couldn't be replaced. If, let's say, a famous businessman created an altcoin, maybe it could be a risk for bitcoin domination.

It is the mst poular and used digital currency of the world, if you say digital currency, one word will come up in your mind, Bitcoin. Ethereum has a good future before it, it will be the first altcoin that will follow the footstep of bitcoin to it's fame and price. But it will never replace bitcoin, never even a lot of years will pass. Bitcoin will stay bitcoin.

First and for most bitcoin cannot be replace by some other existing coins around we can see how people supporting bitcoin, though there are lots of concerns now about fees and slow transaction process. Bitcoin cannot replace by those pump and dump coins out of nowhere. Bitcoin is very strong at the moment, if you do not mind there were lots of coins who really tries to make bitcoin die but they cannot, bitcoin still standing and growing fast.

As you may have observed on exchange big altcoins that has almost the same age of existence on market are competing so close on bitcoins, specially ethereum and litecoin and dash you may conclude base there that bitcoins can be replace someday by a cryptocurrency too

For now it feels like the bitcoint effect is so big in the market, I think bitcoint still outperforms other coins as the demand for bitcoints keeps increasing, and in terms of price obviously bitcoint is superior to other coins, but could change if many people no longer trust bitcoin, And it could all change because of the competition between the koint which causes the price of bitcoint to drop and taken over by another coin, maybe that's just my guess

i do this question because i´ve read in this website issues with bitcoin, slow mining process, high fees, etc. and i´ve read too good reviews of some altcoins, ethereum (smart contracts), ripple (for transfers between banks), dash and nem. these altcoins called 2.0. could bitcoin become just in future virtual gold reserved to companies and rich people?
That can't be happen as long as bitcoin exist, no altcoins are capable to change  what bitcoin is.
Though there are some altcoins when it comes to others services they are more greater than bitcoin. But still the
demaand of many still will prevail.

Yes it is possible that another cryptocurrency can dethrone bitcoin if it will crash. Either etherium, dash, litecoin, ripple, monero etc. But it can only happen when people no longer trust bitcoin anymore.
When people no longer trust in bitcoin. When it happens. It can be but I think bitcoin supporters will not keep silent, they will make movement to make bitcoin on top of the crypto, bisides that many application of web shopping  , exchanger still use bitcoin as the payment gate. There are new payment gate that added other cryptos but they are only a few compared to bitcoin. Many Web hosts and shopping cart still use bitcoin not doge eth or others. There are also Bitcoin ATM, offline shop, restaurants that accept bitcoin. Dethrone bitcoin by other cryptos, I don't agree with that but Eth and other will follow the succes of bitcoin not by destroying bitcoin.

Bitcoin is great but there is no guarantee that it can not be replaced by other cryptos which are greater and better and stronger. Bitcoin is good. But it is not good enough to serve a lot of people and the whole world

I think that it depends on government policy (USA, China, Russia), they could accept bitcoin as currency like Australia, but they also could create their own "national" coins. Maybe in the future there will not be any one dominant coin at all.
Any state may create your coins, but where is the guarantee that they will be as popular as bitcoins. It seems to me that bitcoin will win all the altcoins, and then start the fight with some crypto dollars and who will win in this war is not known.

Anyone having money could enter bitcoin and no one is stopping anyone from entering bitcoin, one thing is certain that the price could double or triple from the present situation in the future but it might take some time and when it comes to bitcoin anything is possible,i am not confident about the rest of the alt coins.
I agree your point come to the bitcoin anything is possible bitcoin only rule cryptocurrency world, or any other currencies may replace bitcoins both are possible. Present tough competition to Bitcoin is ETH. It's growing too fast daily we see huge price variation and it increasing so fast to compare Bitcoin. Maybe this will give good competition to Bitcoin in future.

For me bitcoin cannot be replaced by any crypto currency out there.  There are many crypto emerging right now which promises good value.  But would you still think that they would replaced bitcoin?  Bitcoin is the first and much stable than any other digital currency.  All crypto currency price are based on the price of bitcoin so it is impossible that it would be replaced.

The only losing point for BTC at the moment is its fees. When we compare BTC fees to other coins, it is many times higher. But presently other coins can't guarantee that if they match BTC circulation their fees will still be small because next best to BTC that is ETH has fees around $0.5. So it is wrong to say other coins can solve fees problem at the moment and beat BTC. Let's wait for future then.
