Since bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency it is already has strong foundation and a high upgraded cryptocurrency so it is hard to those some cryptocurrencies to defeat this crypto, however even we think that it is impossible that bitcoin will be replace we really dont know whats the next possible be done in the coming future. Since then maybe bitcoin is the way to make the nations be one and are already have the so called one world government where nations have one money to be use and one rules to be follow. I beleive that the coming new currency after bitcoin will be transparent, identies will knew and ID's are already needed because their will be a CHIPS  that Money, ID, ATM, Cards, and all details that person have is in already there in that chips.

I guess bitcoin will never be replace by some other coins since despite the fact of many concern at the moment still people are continue supporting bitcoin, you can prove it by your own because the value of the coin is still rising. it means there are many people investing their money into it.

Well based on the price of bitcoin today or this year it can't be replace by another cryptocurrency,, actually it can but it will take a decade just to replace bitcoin in its place, every time passes by the bitcoin price is increasing too meaning it is impossible but in other side it is possible too

I do think that based on the price, no other digital currencies will replace bitcoin. It's price is so hyped right now that it made many people a millionaire. But in terms of other features like speed of transaction and fee, I guess it can't be replaced. The thing about bitcoin is, it is a good investment the reason it will never replaced.

At first I thought it was impossible for Bitcoin to be replaced since it is the first cryptocurrency, but you are right, some altcoins may have better features than Bitcoin and people may prefer them instead.

Here's an analogy, lets imagine all cryptocurrencies are like mobile phones. Bitcoin is Nokia, and started the mobile phone trend. And soon after everyone started using Nokia. But brands like Blackberry, Samsung and Apple soon created their own phones, and Apple made a major breakthrough with a touchscreen function, where everyone gradually switched to that after a while, and now Nokia is outdated.

Bitcoin has our trust now, but other cryptocurrencies might overtake BTC in the future. Smiley

But everything in this world now are possible to be happen, particularly we don't know and don't see what will happen tomorrow, Though bitcoin now was very popular than any crypto currencies.

Bitcoin is strong crypto currency, but it can not exist forever and I think that it will be replaced by another crypto currency someday.
If you really think that bitcoin could not exist forever then i can pretty well tell you that none of the coins will exist, there might be coins coming out with better technology and a good development team but i wont think they could over come the popularity of bitcoin and the single most thing that attracts everyone is the decentralization and there is no pre mine with bitcoin and that is not the case with the rest of the new coins. Price is never going to lay any affect on people actually using the currency in the least, so that's something that you should simply just not care about at all. Price could just be made out of nothing, the only thing that's going to change the price is going to be the buyers and sellers wanting to use the currency. I could make a rando shit coin today and buy it for 10000 and then make the price start at an insanely high price.

Bitcoin isn't going to be replaced by another crypto though, this is simple because Bitcoin is going to be having everyone using it on a daily basis while all of these other cryptos are just having tons of trade volume and that's it. If we compared the amount of REAL usage in bitcoin and these other shitcoins it'd be one of the funniest things to see, as Bitcoin is being used while others are just trade shit coins.

At present stage,no altcoin has the potential to replace bitcoin. At first,it was expected that Ethereum, monero,Zcash could replace bitcoin as they promised to deliver certain features like anonymity which is not found in bitcoin. But all such huge expectations went in vain. They all turned out to be just pump and dump coins.WE could expect for some more years bitcoin to continue as king of crypto coins.

i do this question because i´ve read in this website issues with bitcoin, slow mining process, high fees, etc. and i´ve read too good reviews of some altcoins, ethereum (smart contracts), ripple (for transfers between banks), dash and nem. these altcoins called 2.0. could bitcoin become just in future virtual gold reserved to companies and rich people?
That's very impossible because in all online money bitcoin is the number one online money in the world, so it's very possible to believe that bitcoin can be replace by another cryptocurrency. And i am still hoping and believe thay in the future bitcoin will be the future money.

In the short term, probably not. There have been a lot of other alt currencies (etherium, litecoin, dogecoin, monero etc) that have been popping up, but don't seem to have what Bitcoin does. Bitcoin is clearly a protocol for sending value around the internet. Any computer science geek can tell you it meets all the requirements to be a bona fide protocol. I think down the road potentially, but as of now the focus seems to be on how to make Bitcoin better, safer, faster transaction and more accessible.
Well said things would be change up after maybe 5-10 years as time goes by and the stability of this project will meet its peek maybe another coin will followed just needed to create real function not just improving but with the same logic but coins that have real uses in the neae future.
although currently bitcoin is the only best online currency, its price is not stable and i do not think that it can come to stable in next few decades because still only 2% people adopt bitcoin and as soon as the demand of bitcoin will increase then the price of bitcoin cannot come to stable and will remain as variable.
The price volatility or the varying nature is the beauty of bitcoin. Only because of the volatility we the users have got more earning possibilities through trading and other means. Though 2% people have adopted the value is quite peaking, same when more users come into it the scenario change a lot and the price will be very high with the same volatile nature. It's good to stick to it and benefit.

This topic has been discussed many times and we find such questions again and again. I don't see any coin surpassing the place of bitcoin in terms of market capital, user base or even the perception. Yes, we should admit the fact that bitcoin holders are investing heavily in the altcoins but that is part of the speculation of that particular coin or coin and has nothing to do with the potential of the bitcoin. Yes, theoretically this is possible that any alt coin can replace bitcoin but I don't see it happening in at least next 20 to 30 years.

Anything can happen, this is only a matter of time, current marketcap bitcoin is the largest around $44,861,070,262 or about 27% of all cryptocurrency, the second is about $32,121,981,604, looks ethereum can replace bitcoin.

Like most of the people replying on this thread, they used to think this would be impossible, but after spending more thought on this issue I have come to the conclusion that this might actually be possible, there was an example someone made with Bitcoin being Nokia and how it started the cryptocurrency thing. The wrong thing about is that Bitcoin isn't the first cryptocurrency made, I am pretty sure there were  other cryptocurrencies before bitcoin but they all failed. Bitcoin is the first successful cryptocurrency.

I still think the chances of Bitcoin being overtaken or it crashing are super low since in all of its lifetime bitcoin has been number one and I don't think that will change anytime soon.

Right now Bitcoin has our trust and money, let's hope that it remains the same.

I think bitcoin will not be replaced with another cryptocurreny, because if we have to look at the btc price right now; no other cyptocurrency beats it's price. Comparing it to ethereum today, it has nothing to do with price competition which mainly other people have compared it and  also speculate about bitcoin's death in the system.
I don't think that there is a lot of money that is being bet on Bitcoin's death, a lot of the money in Ethereum is because of ICOs and tokens that is provides which are typically more ETH heavy rather than anything else. It's a big speculator's currency, and that's mostly why there is a lot of money being pushed into that asset as opposed to somewhere else. Once the Bitcoin community fixes the blocksize it hopefully will not longer be a contest as to what the dominant crypto is.

It is possible that Bitcoin will be surpassed by another cryptocurrency but it is not highly possible. There are some issues regarding the use of Bitcoin but I believe that some actions are being made at this very moment. Would the Bitcoin developers want to see another cryptocurrency replace Bitcoin? No, so they will resolve the issue.
yes no doubt that it is possible but not so easy, because bitcoin is still the number one crypto currency fo the world and will contine as number one for ever because of the increasing popularity of bitcoin and that is the reason that people are investing money there, I am sure that the increasing trend of bitcoin users will increase for a long time which will make bitcoin more reliable, trusted and powerful.

Yes other crypto currency will not replaced bitcoin because the price of bitcoin is very rise and high as compare to ethereum and other crypto currency , and in bitcoin many people has invest money, many people has also do trading and daily wise bitcoin is going to popular as compare to ethereum or other crypto currency and I do not think that other crypto currency will replaced bitcoin.
