For $1000 I think the best choice is in SXDT I mean the dividend token of Spectre.ai because the first distribution of dividends will be this coming end of April. I find it more potential that the platform will be doing great in the coming days, months or even years because of it's brokerless exchange feature which is pretty unique and I think it is the first to have it in the history of crypto. I believe on the team's capability and motivation and they were too accomodating and legit of course. I love passive income that is why I just hold my tokens from the bounty campaign.

for now it seems XLM and XRP is great for short-term play or if you have other confidence also may but I see the market condition is not able to read the movement because there is no good info.
In my eyes, hands down the best altcoin investments can be made in $ICX (Iconx) and $TRAC (Origintrail).
A few other good picks could include $MAN (Matrix AI Network), $BLZ (Bluzelle) and $QASH.

I would not recommend you to invest on ICO cause most of them are just scam (i'm not particularly pertaining to all ICO). Invest on good projects that has proven its worth or value such as ETH, LTC or XRP. The best thing you can do is make your own research on which coin you think can generate profit for you.
First I would to suggest is ethereum becuase this coin is potential but I see your budget and the price of ethereum now is near at $1000 and if you buy you can get only 1 ethereum plus. So I will suggest to you buy coin the price is two digit only like waves, komodo, taas and qtum this coin for sure gives you high profit after few years because it will increase the price for sure.
I have heard quite much about waves. It is said to be the fastest blockchain that exists currently that can process hundreds and thousands of transaction every second. Waves will be a good investment as it has following feature : smart contracts, decentralized voting and simple messaging. It is also a platform for new ICO and new projects. I believe waves should be atleast 5X of the price that it is currently at the end of this year 2018.

First of all if you have 1000$ to invest in crypto, I would recommend you to invest it in atleast 5 different altcoins. But if you wanna invest just in two altcoins, I will recommend IOTA and XRP. These two coins have pretty amazing technology and are based to solve the real world problem. IOTA has quite high scalability and works on technology called the tangle whereas XRP on other hand has quite high liquidity and I used for cross border payments to speed up transactions and reduce the fees required.
I recommend Waves and ETH. They are strong platforms with bright future

However, if you only need to choose two altcoins, then I will suggest you to go for ETH and neo as they are the most demanding altcoins and have good market value and can help you make some good money as well.

I'd rather advise investing in ICO. Their tokens are much more volatile.

Ethereum, NEO, Ripple. These coins will be good long term. But I would advise in addition to altkoins to also buy Bitcoin, at least a third of the total amount, since if the altcoyins go down, Bitcoin can go up, and vice versa. Thus, your investments become more stable.
Ven and Ada are going to be pretty up this year. But i recommend you do your own research rather than the recommendations here.

The best two alter coins can be ETH and ltc if you think for to invest for a long period of time. Eth is fast growing but i think its gonna take a while to reach to reach 1600 dollar and as we know ltc is always had a slow growth but it shows that we can depend on it hold the ltc for a long period time will bring a good fruit.
Now for short run i would suggest you to invest in decent as it was promising and now at the best price of 80 cent approximately. It has dropped from the 3 dollars at january. Now its the time for decent to grow at its best pick.

There are many good altcoins. All depends from your strategy: Risky or more safely . If risky : kin and OCN . IF more safely - you can take XEM and ADA, because they are very cheap now and have good potential.

Just split it in waves and etherum, more in the second one cause it is lower chance to loss anything, and invest in waves cause it has some points to pump in near time. The best altcoin in nowadays is ethereum and litecoin when comparing to other altcoin they plays a good development in crypto markets and people are also like to invest in both these currencies for their future uses.
