Yeah after death there is nothing. Religious know that it's true for animals, why would it be different for humans?
Animals have no souls but we do? Well would you care to explain why and how you know it?
Because we're the best creature from God. We're intelligent, we feel what's good and what's bad, and this is the soul. After your death, your judged and go spend the eternity in Heaven or in Hell.
Just go and study a little bit of biochemistry and see if you still think you'll be alive after you die.
Soul is a fancy, religious word for "you, your identity, your personality etc." It is a valid question. How do we determine what constitutes one's personality and identity, is it a ghostly soul?
The answer is rather simple. Some people who had accidental damage to their brains (due to car or other accidents) come out without knowing who they were. Their personality completely changes, they might not remember their loved ones, they don't remember themselves. There is your proof that what you call a soul is purely physical, it is somewhere in your brain. Probably a set of interconnections that make you, you. You distort that set and you get a different person.
The most fascinating and scary aspect of AI is that once those interconnections are fully understood and can be up/down loaded to/from another carbon based or silicon life form, you can be reproduced, you can become someone else, someone else can become you.
Question for you? Why you think "we are the best creature from God"? Because the Bible says? Or you have some inside knowledge?
What makes you think God is done creating animals? Species die and new species evolve to take their place all the time.
When human evolution will eventually split human specie into several species due to unrestricted genetic manipulation, who will be the God's people. The most primitive ones? The ones without enhanced genetic pedigree?
Your God is becoming irrelevant. To most scientists God does not enter into their equations. Their work has nothing to do with God.

There is a new religion that most people probably fail to see. It is religion of "data processing". I don't have a word for it.
When you come to Amazon, amazon website recommends you products to buy. There are many other examples of this. The external to your body algorithms know more about you than you think and you rely on their wisdom and for the most part trust their wisdom. When you drive your GPS tells you to turn left and you do if you don't know the area. You ask this external intelligence for help and get it. As this external data processing algorithms become more complex, people will rely on them to perform even the simplest task of making a breakfast. Your fridge will recommend what you should eat on that morning, and you'll do it because the fridge will know more about your body biochemistry, predicted hormone levels, your physical state than you. This extra processing power is popping up in all new products and people accept it without even realizing what is happening.
The religions of the past will be studied by historians but will be irrelevant to other people.
I got a question for you; what makes you less wrong than any of the people you're arguing against? You're constantly telling others what to do, and why their intelligence is biased and wrong, but forget the fact that you're also human and subject to it's imperfections.
I don't tell people what to do. I just point out that the bronze age religion has no place in today's world.
Its moral code is repugnant. It provided no explanations on how the world actually works. Actually, it is dangerous for people to think the world is structured as described in the Bible, the way societies should function as described in the Bible is a disaster waiting to happen with the military technology we have today. We could easily wipe the whole human race (and most of the animal kingdom) if people with access to nuclear codes would follow the Bible.

The verses were the law of the land during bronze age up to until very recently. I disagree with the moral code preached in the Bible. I do not believe this book was inspired by God because I don't believe in non-physical, out of this world realities.
The book provides a bronze age view of the world. There is nothing in that book that is worth a spit.
The whole idea of non physical God is an insult on our senses.
If you are searching for answers on how to live your life the "religion" of socialism, capitalism, liberalism or humanism are probably the most progressive out there. But even these will, in not so distant future, be replaced by other "religions". The pace of change will pick up, so expect these new religions to be discussed in some future crypto currency forums in our lifetimes.
Progress would have never been made if people clung to the bronze age myths.
