An interesting development from Crimea:

Tatars living in Crimea wrote a petition to Natalia Poklonskaja, asking to be protected from impositions, coming from the former leaders of Mjelis (Dzhemilev and Chubarov). The address was delivered in the days, when the so-called Crimean Tatar Congress is being conducted in Ankara

Poklonskaja said:

Quote
I have received a collective appeal of the Crimean Tatars with a request to protect them from the statements coming from Dzhemilev, Chubarov, and so that these representatives would leave them alone. If we take into consideration such treatment, and they are not isolated, it can be concluded that the Crimean Tatars do not accept neither Chubarov nor Dzhemilev, on the contrary - these people are already acting as irritants among the Crimean Tatar population

http://tass.ru/politika/2159854

Given Natalia Poklonskaja's strong reputation as an incorruptible prosecutor, who was a thorn in the side of the Kiev-Ukrainian mafia, I have no reasons to doubt authenticity of the above statement.

This "Crimean Tatar" congress in Turkey is basically a farce conducted without Crimean Tatars. Only a handful of representatives travelled there from Crimea, mainly Dzhemilev's closest people and those, who were receiving Western grants while Crimea was under Ukrainian rule, said Ruslan Balbek, vice-prime minister of Crimea (a Tatar himself) :

Ouch. Renegade Tatars in Turkey decided to form Muslim battalions in Ukraine:

Russia, as always, is keeping the doors for diplomacy and dialogue open:

Russia allows for unofficial visit of PACE delegation to Crimea
http://www.rt.com/politics/311246-russia-allows-for-unofficial-visit/

Quote
A senior State Duma MP has said that Russia would look into possibility of the visit to Crimea by the head of PACE’s Social-Democratic caucus, Andreas Gross, albeit not within the remit of the Russia-PACE dialogue.

Aleksey Pushkov, chair of the lower house Committee for International Relations, told TASS that after Russian delegation withdrew its participation in PACE in protest of the sanctions imposed on it by this body, any official visits through PACE channels have become impossible.

However, Pushkov noted that Russian parliamentarians had not lost the contacts with their European colleagues.

“If Andreas Gross gathers a group of MPs representing not the Parliamentary Assembly, but their own national parliaments, from one or several nations, in this case, I think, this issue can be discussed,” he said.

Pushkov added that the visits of European politicians to Crimea was a mark of a new, more democratic approach to the choice of the Crimean people as earlier Europe had de facto refused the republic the right to choose their fate during what could be described as a coup in Kiev.

“Lawmakers from European countries who have already visited Crimea and who will go there in future are doing this to communicate with the people and form an impression about local thoughts and inclinations,”
Pushkov told reporters.

At the same time, the leaders of European politics deliberately view the problem only from Kiev’s positions and forget about the fact that the population of the Crimean Republic amounts to 2.5 million who must have the right to express their opinion and determinate the fate of their country, he stated.

Pushkov said that European lawmakers who have already visited Crimea could be seen as protectors of traditional democratic values as European politicians have always emphasized the necessity to listen to ordinary people rather than governments alone. In addition, he expressed hope that visits to the region help to defuse the political crisis that emerged in connection of the region’s accession into the Russian Federation.

On July 23-24, a delegation of French lawmakers headed by MP Thierry Mariani visited Crimea and met with the head of the republic as well as with ordinary citizens. When the visit was completed, Mariani told reporters that he and his colleagues found the people in the region to be free and happy, especially about the fact that they did not have to face the same situation as the people in the war-torn southeastern regions of Ukraine that immediately border the Crimea.

The French lawmaker also said that in his opinion there were no grounds to keep the EU sanctions against Russia in place....

Here is more about the French visit:

The Crimean people “seem happy to be back in Russia,” said the deputy of the French National Assembly at a press conference in Moscow on Saturday, after paying a two-day visit to the region. The French delegation confirmed Crimea is a peaceful region.

A delegation of French lawmakers visited Crimea on July 23-24.

MP Thierry Mariani, who led the group of 10 politicians, said the citizens of Crimea were “reassured” they “don't have to face the same situation as the people who live in the regions of Lugansk and Donetsk” – the eastern areas of Ukraine devastated by war waged by the Kiev authorities against the rebels there.

Italian lawmakers announce plans for Crimea visit in October

A group of Italian MPs have decided to follow the example of their French colleagues to pay a personal visit to the Crimean Republic in order to get firsthand information on people’s lives and the political situation on the ground.

The organizer of the visit, MP Manlio Di Stefano, told Russian business daily Kommersant that the delegation would include between eight and 10 parliamentarians from the Five Star Movement, known for its Euroskeptic and anti-establishment stance.

Di Stefano also said that the delegation would be headed by a member of the parliamentary Committee for Foreign Relations, Alessandro di Batista, and that they had received an invitation from Russian MP Andrey Klimov, a member of the Foreign Relations Committee of the State Duma.

lol... Exxon Mobil will be in a very difficult position here. If they don't negotiate with the Russians, then they will lose the rights to drill for oil and gas offshore. But if they do so, then the American government will kick their asses. The best solution will be to sell those drilling rights to Gazprom, in exchange for fields somewhere else.

There was some disturbance in Crimea today: two of the journalists of TV channel "Zvezda" were held hostage by armed private security of the former minister of defence of Ukraine Lebedev, when the journalists were filming material about pulling down of the fences, illegally raise around Crimean beeches:
http://russian.rt.com/article/103559?%D0%BE

On a different note. A few days ago, Starikov voiced an interesting idea:

People of Eastern Germany and Western Germany are both German people. They were divided into two different countries by artificial process, byt no one would deny that they remained a one people. Now, when USSR facilitated reunification of Germany, it was celebrated. Enter 2014. The population of Crimea in particular and Ukraine in general (at least the central and Eastern parts), are by and large Russians. They were divided into two different countries by artificial processes. Yet, when Russian people reunited, it was ment with hostility from the selfsame Germany, which owes its own reunification to Russians.

Ukraine’s offshore natural gas reserves development to hang in limbo

21 March 2014

The large natural gas reserves development offshore Ukraine could hang in limbo after the Crimea peninsula returned to Russia's rule, according to Platts.
Platts' article focuses on the Ukraine crisis, as well as its implications for natural gas prices and European energy trade flows.

Platts explores how the Crimea returning to Russia has upended Ukraine's hopes of becoming a natural gas exporter in the near future, and its Black Sea offshore reserves are now owned by Russia.
Following Crimea's vote supporting a break from Ukraine and de facto annexation by Russia, its self-declared leaders have already announced the nationalisation of the peninsula's gas pipelines and offshore fields operated by Ukranian companies ChornomorNaftogaz and Ukrtransgaz.

It is believed that major gas development deals with foreign oil companies in the Black Sea offshore Crimea are also on hold at present.
"In 2012, a consortium led by ExxonMobil won a Ukraine tender to tap the Skifska offshore gas deposits in a deal worth more than $12bn at the time."

Oil companies including ExxonMobil, Eni, and Austria-based OMV are among those faced with potentially renegotiating existing exploration deals with Russia, said to be the new owner of Crimea, rather than Ukraine.
In 2012, a consortium led by ExxonMobil won a Ukraine tender to tap the Skifska offshore gas deposits in a deal worth more than $12bn at the time.
For the Skifska project, a consortium comprising Exxon, Shell, OMV's Romanian subsidiary Petrom and Nadra Ukrainy won the initial tender, in August 2012.

In 2013, Ukraine produced approximately twenty billion cubic metres per year of gas domestically, and has been eager to see its offshore gas deposits developed in order to cut its dependence on supplies from Russia.

Crimean Tatars... the pet project of the West. Personally I don't care what 249000 (out of 2.5 million population of Crimea) law-abiding Tatars are doing. It's the 1000 troublemakers that cause concern. It's the same all over - on Ukrainian Maidan 9including - the 0.001% that destroy it for the rest.

Its quite telling, that when Kiev cut off Crimea from water pipes last year, West, all of sudden was not concerned about fate of those Tatars residing there  Wink Personally, I dont mean them no harm, like elsewhere, majority of them are decent people, but in this case it is obvious they are being useful idiots.
Crimea (Peninsula in Europe) is a major land mass on the northern coast of the Black Sea that is almost completely surrounded by water,in some region it is called as"Mother of Black Road".Oscar winner is on the way to make film on "Crimea" as per resources said.
Crimea became part of Ukraine only in 1954," he said. "Crimea was historically part of Russia, and (Nikita) Khrushchev gave it to Ukraine in a gesture that mystified some people. It will effect to the Russian economy .

Yep, fat chance that Russia would just fold and let NATO set up shop in the Crimea and dominate the southern flank and the Black Sea. Was never going to happen.

That will happen only if the Russian economy collapses completely. But despite all the sanctions and embargoes, the local economy is remaining quite healthy and stable. The United States / European Union sanctions on Russia have failed miserably. The only real losers are the manufacturers in Germany and the apple growers in Poland.  Grin

Not for the lack of trying on the NATO part, though.  Roll Eyes For some reason USA thought that they are exceptional, and that they'd succeed where the previous aggressors failed:
- 1812, France. Check.
- 1854, Britain and France with a Turkish proxy. Check
- 1941, Germany. Check
- 2014, USA. Well, Check.

Also, already in 1992 did Russia proclaim that the 1954 transfer was illegal. In the Prosecutor General's Office conclusion, that I presented here:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.11726200
there is a passage on page 2, which I should have translated:

Later, the resolution of the Supreme Praesidium of the Soviet of RSFSR from 05.02.1954 "About Transfer of Crimean oblast from composition of RSFSR into the composition of Ukrainian SSR", on the grounds that it was taken in violation of the Constitution (Fundamental Law) of RSFSR and in violation of the legal procedures, was declared as null and void from the start. Breaking! US Planned to Turn #Crimea into Military Base Against Russia

...
At least one hospital in Crimea’s capital Simferopol and at least one school in Sevastopol were targeted by the US/NATO just recently. They were planning on turning the hospital into a base for their troops after a massive renovation. One of the high schools (a gymnasium) in Sevastopol the Kiev authorities were about to sell to the US to be repurposed as a school for spies, targeting Russia. It was planned that the kids going to that school would be learning languages and spying techniques since an early age.

It appears Americans wanted to turn the Crimea into a massive military/navy/intelligence complex. The famous, one-of-a-kind Soviet underground submarine base in Balaklava, which is now the Museum of the Cold War, was visited in the past several years by at least 25 delegations from the Pentagon, US Navy, NATO, and Western political circles. Kiev gave them access to super-secret Russian/Soviet sectors of the base, which were supposed to be off limits. They studied with great interest the secret documentation and technology.
...

EDIT: Incidentally, the designs USA/NATO had for Crimea are exactly the same as what the implemented on Serbian land of Kosovo after they bombed Yugoslavia to smithereens:
