A lot of people believe that for example hardware wallets are the most secure way to store Bitcoin and they are wrong. Both TREZOR and Ledger had some serious bugs. Unfortunately, there is no perfect solution and it has been already proved. Even software wallets such as Electrum or Bitcoin Core had some vulnerabilities in the past. I would recommend anyone to use a cold storage (for larger amounts of bitcoins) and a mobile wallet in case it was possible to spend Bitcoin in a local shop.
Nah not really recommended using mobile wallet, since when you acidentally throw the app to the trashbin, puff, it's gone and the fun fact is, people tend to accidentally delete application, so using mobile wallet will be more dangerous than hardware wallet, however, the hardware wallet's bug that they have is kinda hard to be used to jam people's hardware wallet. It needs more effort than just stealing a private key from someone else's desktop wallet so using hardware wallet is still recommended whatsoever, or if you want total security, buy raspberry pi, set it up with bitcoin wallet and after installing the wallet there, never connect it to internet.

I am very interested to know if cryptocurrency wallets like Bitcoin Core, NEON, Electrum can ever be hacked ?

There are lot chances for a wallet to be hacked. It is the individual responsibility to have the wallet kept secured with all the options given by the providers. Activate 2FA google authenticator which will keep the wallet more secured. Look out for the URL you have entered. This needs to be really checked. Here where we miss by chance and hackers enter into the account without any notice and steel the money. So be more cautious on it.

Yes, it can be hacked. But it is not that easy. If you don't share your credential with anybody then it will be very tough to do something with your wallet. But if you, unfortunately, give your credential information to someone then, your wallet may be hacked. But there is a new strategy for hacking coming to the mind of the hacker. Now they are trying to hack by creating a mirror site exactly same to your used one. People taught it was the original site and give credential information !! But alas it was not the original site. By creating mirror site hackers can easily hack wallet and steal. Please be careful.

The only time these wallets can be hacked is if the user's security is compromised or is careless enough to give out private details on his wallet. Technically speaking, these wallets are pretty damn secure, though exploits can still be employed to get something out of it. There are times when viruses and malicious files on a machine where wallets are stored sifts through your machine's files to gather information regarding your wallets, bank acocunts etc. If you're careless enough, you might download these types of files and voila! Balance is gone. But if a hacker tries to crack a private key, that is theoretically impossible as one needs a huge amount of processing power to achieve such.

Just keep your machines secured and, if losible, encrypt your important files plus back up your data so when the unexpected event happem, you still have something to fall back to.

Actually, they can't directly be hacked unless you leak your private keys accidentally. Online web wallets are not secured that enough those holding your private keys & is same with crypto exchanges they can be hacked directly by black hat guys by bypassing server security, wallet storage data. But wallets for which you are holding your private keys then it is then you own responsibility to safeguard it from hackers, malwares, keyloggers, phishing websites, malicious clipboard.

Any wallet is vulnerable to hacks, because there are several angles of attack. A hacker might not even have to exploit the

wallet software or code. They can use the "Man in the Middle" attack strategy where they intercept the data before it is

send to the wallet or they can use a Phishing strategy where they re-direct you to their fake site or wallet software. They can

even install Malware on your computer to capture all the data that you enter to re-use it on another computer. They can steal

your seed when you create the wallet or grab your private key, when you use the wrong method to create Paper wallets for

cold storage.  Roll Eyes

everything can be hacked, there is no 100% security ever. there will always be some way to hack everything but it will all come down to the level of security that you have and how hard it is to hack it.

for example in addition to my cold storage i have a desktop and a web wallet and neither have ever been hacked because of the security measures that i take such as password protection, having a firewall, never installing crap that i don't know,...

That's right. And because one or even a few people can only do so much to protect and safeguard their code, this is one big reason why you should never trust or use non open-source wallets.

Open source means the whole world can see your code and point out flaws and shortcomings. Bugs are easier to fix, exploits are easier to identify. In fact, the wallets that I know of that have been exploited or hacked have not been open source. Yes, I'm talking especially about the Jaxx exploit that has been demonstrated.

whatever kind of wallet we have I think it will be very vulnerable to hacking if we are not careful in storing our private key. so I think the most important thing is how we can keep a secret about the wallet we have from anyone because if someone knows about the wallet we have it will have a considerable hacking risk.

Online wallets could be hacked but the hard ware wallets I think it is impossible to be hacked,
They could only access your hard ware wallet if they have your back up keys and it is impossible for them to get the right pattern of random words .

There has been some hacking of them due to the badly written code, for instance famous parity wallet, multisig wallets were hacked for ether and funds were locked in contracts. It is irreversible without hard fork. So it can be hacked but only if it was coded poorly...
You have a point that coded poorly is one factor that is possible to hack, so in that case, we need to double private key in our online wallet especially those not using hardware wallet. Applying 2FA authentication is the best thing to do, and keep always in a safe place your private key we have our responsibility to keep that safe.

Yes you can be hacked if you are not careful on what you are clicking, on what you are downloading and where you are typing your private keys.

These wallets/clients are strong enough to protect your wallet but as a user, you have the responsibility to keep your important private keys. If you downloaded or logged in to a place that includes your private key, there's a possibility that you'll be hacked.

Be responsible with your wallet although they are safe and secure but if the user is not keeping it correctly, chances of being hacked is there.

Yes, Anything that is online can possibly be hacked or exploit. Sometimes people got hacked due to their own negligence and no matter how secure the crypto wallet is it still depends on the behaviour of users on how they use it.

Whatever is made by a man can always have loopholes no doubt and there will always be another person out there who is more intelligent than the creator .
Thus one can always hack it but it's on you how well you skeep it safe.
There are hardware wallets too they are quite pricey but you know they are more or less safest out there.
Online wallets are something that am always scared of.
Offline ones are safe considering you don't install some malicious content on mobile and keep your password and keys safe.
No matter what don't ever share your details with someone else, it's not worth loosing your savings altogether.
