I have a BA in English Composition.  Maybe you better go back to school?

I got a nice reply from the consulate.

Had you received a response from the New Zealand Consulate you would have shared it's contents with us here in the Forum.

It is making NZ look like a "banana republic" in a way, and definitely appearing to allow
corruption, the taking away of funds from one person to another (in this case a high powered
legal team) and no oversight for the common good.

Do you really want to insult the very people you are going cap-in-hand for help to?

You might want to hold off writing any such letter until someone who is a native English speaker has had a chance to review and amend the shocking grammar (which may be sort of ok for an on line forum) and clarifies what you are actually wanting them to do on your behalf.

You might want to go back and read the last dozen pages and see that Judgements have been made and reported on here in this thread.

Further reading can be found here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/cryptopia-online-articles-related-to-hack-theft-of-funds-2022-non-discussion-5097916  (note that thread is not a discussion thread)

I can tell you now its cup day here in Christchurch and traditionally a time for the stuck up hooty tooty crowd to dress up and talk wank at Riccarton race course. And this is a slow wind down to xmas and then reopen again end of Jan. Yep a 3 month window where lawyers do fuck all in this part of the world.

Can guarantee nothing more will be announced until the new year, so here's to signing out and see ya'll 2021.

What lessons can be learned from this whole disaster? I think keeping liquidators out is essential but if the day comes when there is no alternative then those liquidators or administrators that charge the lowest fee and have an excellent reputation are the ones that should be on the shortlist.

Grant Thornton have done themselves no favours since getting involved with this Cryptopia issue, sure they have made a lot of money for doing very little work in comparison but I think their reputation is in tatters so their short-term greed will probably not be worth it in the long run.

Should or could there be a class action suite against Grant Thornton? 150K a month and stalling for over 2 years is a shame.

Just called the NZ consulate and they told me to write them here: [email protected]

You might write them also.

Dear Consulate Staff,

There has been a hack of a large cryptocurrency exchange in NZ as you may know.
I feel the way that the authorities of NZ is policing the overseeing of this has been poor.
It is making NZ look like a "banana republic" in a way, and definitely appearing to allow
corruption, the taking away of funds from one person to another (in this case a high powered
legal team) and no oversight for the common good.

According to www.cryptopiarescue.com

"Did you know that the Liquidator…
Still has $4.7 million in cash reserves and is in no hurry to wind up the liquidation (he has reported his fees are $150k per month)
Has no cost-effective solution to be able to return all the coins to all of the wallet holders.
Could apply to the court for a ruling to enable him to dump the majority of coins, or sell them on the market and distribute cash, which would crash the value of many of the Alt coins.
Does not have any suitable infrastructure to aid in the distribution of everyone’s coins. Has no 3rd party representing account holders to keep him accountable."

Please help us respect your country and stop spreading an inevitable negative image of it.  Please help
people get repaid the honest money that is due to them.

Let me know your thoughts.

Kind regards,

_ _

This is what I do. I drink and I know things.

And this is the site of the "Cryptopia Rescue" consortium: https://www.cryptopiarescue.com/
It seems that liquidator, Grant Thornton, has this great idea to cut-off 50% of all the coins from holders. So I guess that we follow this procedure if we want to see all of our coins... I admit though that I'm a bit confused. Undecided

Due to tax Reporting I need to find out if this adress is owned/was owned by cryptopia:

13tJC2oeXWFmA9fKcjHvQJP664auqBGQJE.

I have sent bitcoins to the adress from coinbase, but dont remember or cant find out if is to cryptopia or another Exchange.

Bitcoins sent from my adress to what i think is the cryptopia adress in the time frame, 11.01.2018-30.01.2018.

Can anyone confirm wether this is a cryptopia adress or not?

Thanks in advance

Each person on Cryptopia had their own deposit address for BTC. Those addresses were automatically swept to one of several Cryptopia hot wallets.

You can see from your deposit address 13tJC2oeXWFmA9fKcjHvQJP664auqBGQJE  that it is consistently being swept to 1KSuWHN6Hc36tJmYtk4RyAbkKDtNjACRX9

Address https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/13tJC2oeXWFmA9fKcjHvQJP664auqBGQJE
Is swept to address https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/1KSuWHN6Hc36tJmYtk4RyAbkKDtNjACRX9

1KSuWHN6Hc36tJmYtk4RyAbkKDtNjACRX9 has been idenified as a known Cryptopia hot wallet.

So - yes - I believe that was your Cryptopia deposit address.

I hope that answers your question.

Looking at their offices must make all Cryptopia victims very upset. If the Judge stated victims should get priority over anybody else then by that process alone Grant Thornton should not get anything yet here we are looking at their new offices.

These are the swanky offices on the River Avon on a sunny Monday lunch time. I sat eating my home made sarny opposite and thought its good to know the hard earned funds milked from the Cryptopia cow are being put to good use.

And just to let everyone know there is not a bluer sky anywhere else on the planet it is crystal clear, of course helps having no ozone layer Smiley

New communication about Cryptopia

snip

This is kind of good. I would really like access to my account because like many, at this point I have no idea the account balances and/if it is even worth it to go through the whole process.

The creditors will not let go of all that cash easily, they will either appeal or they will try to recoup what they already spent on investigating the Cryptopia scam.

New communication about Cryptopia

The liquidator of the now defunct exchange Cryptopia plans to begin the claims registration process by the end of 2020.
The exchange lost NZD 30 million ($17.85 million) in crypto-money due to hacking in 2019.
The recent court order gave Cryptopia account holders priority over creditors.

Can anyone else tell me my account balance?

We are the only ones with access to the customer database at the date of Liquidation. No one outside of the Liquidators has access to the customer database, nor should they be communicating any information about balances to account holders.

Anyone outside of the official communication channels pertaining to have access to this information or offering to tell account holders what balances are in their accounts is doing so without the Liquidators authority. Please be wary of any such approaches and note that any communications relating to the Liquidation will come from the official channels such as the Grant Thornton website, or the Grant Thornton and Cryptopia twitter accounts.

These wankers could announce what they actually HAVE without breaking down into cust accounts.

What a preposterous suggestion.... Why would anybody associated from the liquidators or Courts give unnamed exchange anything related to the Cryptopia scam?

On a slightly different note, who exactly is the owner of unnamed exchange and how can anybody serve legal documents on them/him if they feel they have a case against them? There is no legal protection as no LLC or company name is mentioned nor is any company address. An extremely amateurish attempt at making a serious exchange.

Handing anything over to unnamed exchange is akin to handing something over to an exchange operator/owner who himself hides behind anonymity and the notion of doing so is completely absurd.

@TillKoeln

You have offered a quick fair solution.
If the liquidators transferred  user/pasword datadump, then provable account holders could login, aka proof by login.
AML why?  We are talking about reclaiming not stolen funds, aka, non-liquid coins.

Once registered by valid logins.   liquidators transfer funds to @TillKoeln, the victims withdraw, done.

All unclaimed asset never hit @TillKoeln platform.
