Was it really necessary for Clark or Dawson to instruct Grant Thornton?

How long would it have taken for them to return the approximate 10% that was stolen in the first place? They could have done it without bringing administrators in.

There is more to this story that we are not aware of.

I do believe those that are prepared to provide KYC will receive something but with a massive haircut.
Grant Thornton are in this for the long run and those money grabbing fucks will prolong this as long as possible. The recent court case absolutely proves this, they get a clueless judge to rule in their favor and ding dong they have another 100 million to piss away and every junior cocksucker working on this makes partner.

Hi mate, so do you think users will see again their funds or not?

possible just like MT.GOX but expect that it would take years and a very small amount.

The problem is that Grant Thornton is technically illiterate and so is the judge. They both don't understand basic concepts of databases and how they work.

All you have to do is a database query for every coin to see how much all the users are holding and compare it to that coins wallet amount. This should take one day to do. Yet Grant Thornton makes it seem like they have to manually add up all the users amounts for each coin.

This is beyond a joke. The judge probably knows zero about cryptocurrency and databases and how they function. So what you have is technical incompetence on both sides scratching their heads like mindless idiots because of a serious deficiency in understanding.

What is needed is an expert to handle everything. From calculating the amount the users own for each coin , by doing database queries, and comparing it to the amounts in the wallets; To updating the binaries so the coins are up to date and can be withdrawn; To securing the coins so they can't be hacked.

Grant Thornton hasn't done a damn thing since they took over as liquidator. They haven't even bothered securing the coins or contacting each coins development team to see whats needed to make sure the coins are up to date and able to be secured and withdrawn by users.

They haven't even attempted to do database queries to find out exactly how much the users own for each coin and comparing it with the amount in the coins wallets. With this level of incompetence, by Grant Thornton and the judge, I can't see how anything can be solved at all.

"Turn off the lights, turn off the lights
Turn on the charm for me tonight
I've got my heavy heart to hold me down
Once it falls apart my head's in the clouds
So I'm taking every chance
I got Like the man I know I'm not
A heavy heart on the boulevard tonight,
oh Shooting stars watch me fall apart tonight"

I wasn't there in the beginning, but I'm left with the bag at the ending.
Good night.

Some as expected news from the court case.

The Cryptopia hearing was held 11-14 February at Christchurch High Court. No judgement was delivered with Justice Gendall reserving his judgement.

That's right fellas. He couldn't get his head round the tech and could take up to a year to make a ruling. Fuck me the liquidators got a free pass to piss away more funds.

How long this case will continue because there are many people waiting for the positive news from the court, is there any chance for the Crytopia exchange to be launched again because I am one of the fans of cryptopia previously I used trade continuously in this exchange.

I don't think this exchange is going to be launch again or we have any chance of funds back because its very long run case and liquidators already taking their fees so they have no problem its just for all investors problem but no one going to give them any releif.

Unless it was classed as an "urgent application" (think of the USA application to freeze the website being removed by the host providers unless overdue fees were paid) the courts in NZ/Aust/UK will hear an application, the court will then reserve their decision (so that they can look at the evidence and make an evaluation) then make a determination at a later date.

From what I can tell all the evidence is presented in one session - like being given a telephone directory and asked to read and review it, you can't do so in one day, hence the crown will reserve their decision.  Judges hear evidence in all kinds of cases, so they aren't entirely in the dark concerning this particular case.  They are only looking at the funds were partially stolen, funds were saved, this is what's owing, this is what we have left in the cash register.

The issue of the funds being stolen is not actually relevant - that's the NZ Police's jurisdiction.  They will present their brief of evidence to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution who will decide who to lay charges against.  That brief of evidence is given to the defence council and is presented in a court of law (not public opinion)...

As I said just above, the theft and the directions hearing are two different beasts.

What news from the court case, he rule trust assets or what?

If his honorship judge judyson ruled in favor of the liquidators as property of the company kiss your mofo holding ass goodbye as them Grant Thornton boys will add an extra story to their building with a strip club as they'll be rolling in 100,000,000 of extra funds to party with.
From the shit I've read pretty sure 99% it is trust assets but this is a new fandangled brand spanking new asset class and who knows what the fuck mr judge will rule to set a precedent to call his own.

lol small exchanges are like shitcoins they come and go.

only use small amounts to gamble. and don't get too excited with pumps and dumps that will happen there, also watch out for fake volume.

exchanges that passed the test of time, especially the ones that are not sold gets a hefty amount of trust  Wink

The taxes paid by NZ'ers should be used to pay back those who invested funds in a NZ company.

It doesn't work like that, if it did many many companies would just trade while insolvent as Crytopia did and expect the Government to wipe their bottom for them.

Also, I'm not getting emails about what the current state of what anything is.  I think I got one email in all this time.

Not many people are getting any emails concerning Cryptopia.  That's true.  Who's fault is that then?
