Well the "coin daemons are down" message is gone, somehow I doubt there'll be much withdrawals until someone refills the hot wallet though.

Pay more attention to their hot wallet.

From the looks of it, the only times people have been able to make successful withdrawals is when someone else makes a big enough deposit to cover an outgoing transaction. It's not so much that things are getting "stuck", they're just pending for there to be enough money in the wallet to actually make the transaction.

https://www.walletexplorer.com/wallet/BTC-e.com

Compare that with another exchanges hot wallet, which is constantly being topped up with fresh money from the cold wallet as required and always has sufficient balance to cover even very large withdrawals with tens or hundreds of BTC on hand.

So, why is the Cryptsy wallet never getting above dust levels of balance? It's only been above 1BTC a couple of times in the last week, and even then it is instantly drained by users trying to exit.

A different takeaway of course is that this reveals that Cryptsy is running like 400 coin daemons on a single server, but that's probably less interesting.

Very interesting..

Yes, this is very interesting.

I suspected this two weeks ago but i didn't check their hot wallet

Go back in time a bit, all of the time the wallet has tens or hundreds BTC or something in it. Is there any other explanation other than that they literally don't have the money? Wallet problems don't stretch to days or weeks with no reasoning, this is exactly the same story as Gox.

I haven't heard much of anything from Vern lately, you'd think he'd address some of the issues going on with cryptsy lately, I do find that a bit concening myself.[/color]

But wait, I thought BigVern was in "DC" right now with mullick rebuilding the new BigServer right now?  Roll Eyes

I don't recall anyone ever saying Vern went to the data center, not sure where you came up with that...

If only... if only... if only... Crypsty had a Twitter account to give updates. That would be so awesome! But, I guess that's not the case, for that's the first place Terrik would look, ergo I'm not wasting my time to see if such exist.

I just think it's awfully coincidental that HUGE spikes in clam digs and wallets on certain exchanges are offline simultaneously...come on?...somebody?....nothing?  No relationship?  Niether deny, nor admit? Anything?

In the time they've been in operation, have they ever been hacked ?  so where did funds go? ...they siphoned accounts to pay salaries and expenses?...hard to believe...as there most likely would be jail time for such an offense..... they speculated on coins?... harder to believe....again they'd have to use client funds.

whoa, hey now, we only make wild accusations and throw around baseless accusations here..

hey bitjohn ...in your tenure there, did it ever seem like they were cash flow problems?

We don't take kindly to rational inquiry around these parts, please insert FUD and try again.
yeah...just seems like there are enough wild accusations flying around...so I didn't want to add to the mix. but is is puzzling that at this stage in their existence they are wrought with these problems. lets see what the next few hours bring

What do Dooglus, Dabs and Superclam aka creativecuriosity have in common ?

There are 644,322 accounts on Bitcointalk. Of those, only 55 have the word "curious" or "curiosity" in them.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=mlist;sa=search
You could say the odds that "SuperClam - creativecuriosity" (the dev) and "Curious" (the digger) do NOT know each other are around 11,700 to 1.
I'm not a statistics expert but that is (wait for it)..... curious.
I applaud them and thank them for devising, planning, hiding, carrying out, and revealing this conspiracy with timing that is both elegant and explosive.
The only way it could have been better is if they had revealed it on November 22.
I especially want to thank "curious" for not using a new user name when it came time to reveal.

Soo.. the digger is curious... SuperClams alt is creativecuriosity with its sig advertising a well known dice casino scam...
WHAT A FUCKLOAD OF COINCIDENCES !
Should we toss creativex into the ring !?

creativecuriosity is my personal and original BTTalk account.
Though, if you look at some of the posts in the beginning of the thread they were co-written by xploited and I.
garthkiser and possibly tryphe helped out here or there as well.

We were also involved in DigiByte.

None of this has been "confidential" or particularly guarded information....

The only reason the "dice" signature is still on the creativecuriosity account is because I have been too lazy to dig out an old laptop to grep the password for the account (as I haven't used it in some time).
When this came up, I checked the link, and it led to a gateway/landing advertising page - so, it wasn't a priority.

I don't know "curious" anymore than the rest of you; though we exchanged PM's shortly after he revealed himself.
When I reviewed his account, I noticed how long ago he registered here at BTTalk.

I don't think I was even aware of the crypto community when his account was created.

I'm not sure how you "prove" a negative, i.e. that I don't know, and am not, the user "curious".
If you ask nicely, maybe BTTalk mods would be willing to verify that we've never ever logged from the same IP address.
I give you permission to ask, and the moderators of BTTalk to verify this, if that makes you feel any better.

As for dooglus and I, you caught us.
We are indeed the same person.  /s

I had a sneaking suspicion the problem would take "a while" (or if you're JShock "awhile") to fix.

Interesting that BitJohn says they have multiple wallet servers and yet all of the wallets are affected.

What's said on a Tuesday is not indicative what's said on a Thursday.
