I had a sneaking suspicion the problem would take "a while" (or if you're JShock "awhile") to fix.

Interesting that BitJohn says they have multiple wallet servers and yet all of the wallets are affected.

In case anyone is wondering what the current problem is..

image tags don't work for newbie accounts.

BTW, this is the most laughable shit show i've ever seen. I wouldn't give these morons any of my coins if my life depended on it. 24 hours to even start rebuilding a server? Laughable, pathetic, and i've been running servers for almost 20 years. I mean really, no DR / failover? Unbelievable.

Using centralized exchange to trade decentralized tokens. Are you nuts?
All parts of the crypto ecosystem must be distributed and decentralized.

Do you recall mtgox1, mtgox2, mintpal and many other similar events?
If not learning from history then repeat it.

All cryptos are FIAT digital currency. Do not use.
What do Dooglus, Dabs and Superclam aka creativecuriosity have in common ?

There are 644,322 accounts on Bitcointalk. Of those, only 55 have the word "curious" or "curiosity" in them.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=mlist;sa=search
You could say the odds that "SuperClam - creativecuriosity" (the dev) and "Curious" (the digger) do NOT know each other are around 11,700 to 1.
I'm not a statistics expert but that is (wait for it)..... curious.
I applaud them and thank them for devising, planning, hiding, carrying out, and revealing this conspiracy with timing that is both elegant and explosive.
The only way it could have been better is if they had revealed it on November 22.
I especially want to thank "curious" for not using a new user name when it came time to reveal.

Soo.. the digger is curious... SuperClams alt is creativecuriosity with its sig advertising a well known dice casino scam...
WHAT A FUCKLOAD OF COINCIDENCES !
Should we toss creativex into the ring !?

HippieDick makes Gleb look like the genius offspring of Sherlock Holmes and Albert Einstein

creativecuriosity is my personal and original BTTalk account.
Though, if you look at some of the posts in the beginning of the thread they were co-written by xploited and I.
garthkiser and possibly tryphe helped out here or there as well.

We were also involved in DigiByte.

None of this has been "confidential" or particularly guarded information....

The only reason the "dice" signature is still on the creativecuriosity account is because I have been too lazy to dig out an old laptop to grep the password for the account (as I haven't used it in some time).
When this came up, I checked the link, and it led to a gateway/landing advertising page - so, it wasn't a priority.

I don't know "curious" anymore than the rest of you; though we exchanged PM's shortly after he revealed himself.
When I reviewed his account, I noticed how long ago he registered here at BTTalk.

I don't think I was even aware of the crypto community when his account was created.

I'm not sure how you "prove" a negative, i.e. that I don't know, and am not, the user "curious".
If you ask nicely, maybe BTTalk mods would be willing to verify that we've never ever logged from the same IP address.
I give you permission to ask, and the moderators of BTTalk to verify this, if that makes you feel any better.

As for dooglus and I, you caught us.
We are indeed the same person.  /s

DGB, CLAMs... advertising for gambling scams... Is there anything that you and xploited do not do together ?

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.8243713

WTF is Dabs doing supporting this scam and his current one, 64blocks ??

And why is he asking for Dooglus' help ?? lol

Cryptsy,
are you fucking kidding? All wallets are down? What fucking clown show are you running? And here's the fucking cake.... 20 fucking times I try to log in and your captcha is fucking absolutely unreadable. Each has at least two unintelligible characters and I get a security exception. Fuck you you prick bastards. Paul you piece of shit. your days are numbered. I don't care where you go. your fucking days are numbered. You think realsolid had it easy? I will rain hell on your ass.

This is just ridiculous.. Hope at least casinocoin wallets are fine.. Otherwise we'll have a big problem there..
.
casinocoin is rocking. were finishing up tuesday. After that we torch crypstsy. I dont want our coin trading there anymore. These guys have made a new enemy

For that reason.. Let's see if csc wallet turns online again and we can move out our csc from cryptsy is the only thing I have left inside the exchange..

Check out alcurex. They picked us up. People should move the csc trading over there.

Mr. Lahey says..

Should be interesting if Cryptsy can bounce back from before this topic was created.
Been a steady amount of complaints trickling in since Cryptsy started..
Is it all too much now ?

HEY You VERN.. Quit Goxx'ing around over there !!!

EDIT:
And by the way..
BigVern has already commented before on this topic.. he knows were here asking questions.

"Okay, Master Paul gonna be outta pocket for a few hours to repair some servers. I say let's claw the shit outta our new million-dollar digs while he's away, eh? I don't know about you Cats, but I got first dibs on the new $40K bed. Meow!"

Just now i read that there is a 25 USD withdrawal limit per user per day?

I did not verify the source but when I will i let you know..

If this is true, cryptsy is dead...

That was for an unverified Tier 0. Basically they had to compel folks to verify to Tier 1 to be compliant. Without DOB and city its impossible to cross reference against SDN, and OFAC lists.

It is also illegal for them to transmit coins without it. I was still around during those discussions.

Ahem. Reading post on cryptsy "Due to a server failure, all wallets are offline"

Can anybody explain me why it is possible to change deposite adresses of any (not maintance) coin without any problem right now?
Is't this operation require access to working wallet?

More year ago when they hadn't wallet status page i used this way to check if deposite will arrive, i generated new adress, if this operation failed i was sure that wallet was not working, not always helped but sometimes worked.

Although twitter said something diffrent "Due to a server failure all wallets are paused", what means paused then?

Well the database for the exchange and the wallets are two different things.  Just going off the top of my head here (I work with databases and I have installed wallets so that's the extent of my credentials) but if I was running an exchange I would generate a shitload of addresses with the wallet and then put those in the exchange database as unassigned.  Then if a user wanted a new address I would just have the database assign one.  I would not set it up so that the database had to somehow send a message to the wallet software to generate a new address and then have the wallet software somehow communicate back to the exchange database what the new address was.  This does present the possibility that you could run out of free addresses temporarily but seems like a better way to handle it.  Databases can generate alerts easily enough so you could just have the database generate an alert when a particular coin had a low number of unassigned addresses and then go to the wallet and generate a bunch more and then import them into the database.

TL;DR
Asking the website (which interacts with the exchange database) for a new address probably shouldn't have a direct correlation to whether or not the wallet is actually working.

However unless I am mistaken, you shouldn't be given a TXID unless the wallet actually generated a transaction and from what I understand, trying to do a withdrawal on cryptsy right now is generating a TXID in the web interface.  So that seems a bit puzzling to me.  Although I have to admit I just saw that in the chat, I have no coins on cryptsy to try a withdrawal since I read the signs months ago and bailed the fuck out of there.

It is true but I think it is $25 a day and there are only 4 days in a month to equal $100. Pretty sure we already went over this funny Corruptsy math.

Cryptsy consolidated the MN2 and MN1 into an MN market to cover up the Bait-n-Switch. Good job covering the tracks there.

Good question... Maybe its just one of the main wallet servers there are like 12 different ones. Though not sure why they would stop them all. Only Mullick or Vern would have know though and both are likely working it.

@Bit_John
In the time they've been in operation, have they ever been hacked ?  so where did funds go? ...they siphoned accounts to pay salaries and expenses?...hard to believe...as there most likely would be jail time for such an offense..... they speculated on coins?... harder to believe....again they'd have to use client funds.

hey bitjohn ...in your tenure there, did it ever seem like they were cash flow problems?

Revenues would fluctuate with the price of Bitcoin so it is pretty volatile.

They appear to have it back online, however I don't use it so cannot verify functionality.

@nwfella So i shouldn't deposit cryptocurrencies either?

@bitlab:you cant all wallets are down. There server went poop and john is supposedly 4hrs from DC to fix the issue.

@willdono845:not with the status of things currently...no

Why is its future questionable? @nwfella

BitJohn doesn't work there.
He also posted on the previous page 2 other guys BigVern and Mullick are about 2hrs away from the D.C.

Yeah, sorry I couldn't grab the line where jshock mentions john doesn't work there. I just think it's absolutely hilarious that "BigVern" is in the DC now "Moving BigServers" and fixing it , but Jshock doesn't know what the issue is, only that it will take more hours. (?)

These guys can't keep their website going, or even effectively communicate to customers -  how the hell can anyone trust them with coins?  Tongue

As a cryptozian, miner, trader and staker, I'm cheering for Cryptsy to succeed. I feel it would be a great loss not to have them as an exchange.

Plus I always root for the underdog.

Me too!  I really do hope that all of the "funny" stuff going on around here is just a product of chance, variance, and coincidence.  I don't think the universe of digital currency can take too much more abuse.  We're beginning to look like those with "gold fever" during the gold rush days when everybody started preying off each other for their dust...We should all bow our heads in silence and hope for the best here.
