Just to let you know that I'm narrowing down the elusive BitJohn. If he's who I think he is, I could then probably link him to Jeff Ownby of BFL.

Here is John Hammes' Google+ page: https://plus.google.com/104290334892640183070/videos

This is his YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/racineraiders

John Hammes' grandfather invented the garbage disposal: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garbage_disposal_unit

The garbage disposal was invented in 1927 by John W. Hammes, an architect working in Racine, Wisconsin.[2] He applied for a patent in 1933 that was issued in 1935.[3] His InSinkErator company put his disposer on the market in 1940.

InSinkErator is a company and brand name known for producing instant hot water dispensers and waste disposal systems, generally called garbage disposals or garbage disposers. The company was founded in Racine, Wisconsin by John W. Hammes, who was working as an architect there.

I'm the one who showed that Jeff Ownby introduced the InSinkErator to Russia: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.10694181

FinCen also makes statements regarding transactions that an organization claims were criminal in nature.

launderlines4-5

One organization began working with information from the Department of Homeland Security, and initiated an investigation of bank transfers to several banking institutions via sealed subpoenas. The records allege that the company platform was used  in money transfers to accounts linked with suspected terrorists. The document further alleges that Cryptsy had been used as a means of money laundering for some time, and that the company was aware of this activity and allowed it to continue.

fincenline83

It appears from the reports that investigators will begin seeking formal subpoenas. These subpoenas are believed to be delivered in 2016, and will likely request a wide range of information including transaction history, server information, and consumer account information.

In the interim, one federal organization’s sealed subpoena revealed information that they found “interesting” according to one memorandum and would be used as part of an action against several members of the Project Investors team.

Response regarding lawsuit

There was quite a bit of PR pushed out yesterday from a law firm that stated that they were filing a lawsuit against Cryptsy and myself. The complaint alleges that Crytpsy misled users and was negligent in security. They represent a single user.  We have close to 300,000 users at this point. We have reviewed the unofficial complaint and believe that it is without merit. We intend to defend the case vigorously.

We would like to note that we have not received any documentation or official notification concerning any lawsuit yet.  We also find it unprofessional that the law firm decided to push out such a large PR campaign prior to serving any notice.  It should also be noted that according to the user terms of our site, disputes are to be handled via arbitration.

We realize that there have been a few "Bad Actors" in the crypto-currency space running exchanges and other services.  Cryptsy strives for transparency and doing what is right.  This lawsuit attempts to place us in the same group as many of these bad actors, but this is simply not how we operate.  We are not a fly by night operation, we are a company that plans to be around for a long time.   Our desire is to be the model of how to operate a crypto business.

As I’m sure many of you are aware, we take security very seriously.  We pride ourselves on being one of the most secure places to trade on the internet.  The crypto-currency space has been the target for a lot of hackers over the last year due to the increase in value of Bitcoin.  These hackers  not only target Cryptsy users, but users of many other Bitcoin services.

In this case the attack on the user making the claim came from within their own computer.  This is currently one of the most common attacks by hackers.   While we try to educate our users on how to secure their local environment, we ultimately have no control of a users computer system.

So as a reminder I’d like to reiterate a few security tips:

- Do not leave your computer logged into your Cryptsy account when you are away from your computer

- Do not install browser extensions from unknown developers

- Do not install mining software from unknown developers on the same computer you use to access Cryptsy

- Run a virus scan regularly.

- Make sure you use 2fa on your Cryptsy account

Yes. This is regarding the lawsuit filed by silvers law after a guy tried to get his coins back from cryptsy following the Bitcoin Saving & Trust fiasco. It's like a year old and I believe they settled it.

http://silverlaw.com/media/news-releases/246-2/

What is the point of posting this exactly?

do you know what the settlement was?

didn't that shavers guy actually get a jail sentence as he was running a Ponzi

If they settled out of court, there is no way to find out. They wouldn't have had to disclose it.

This is a copy of the complaint:

Keep in mind that Cryptsy's user agreement states that you agree to settle all disputes via arbitration if you use their service. So, filing a lawsuit in a real court could be a problem for an individual.

Exactly! These are Facts that no one can dispute. The MN2 Bait and Switch happened for real and now these complaints are more numerous and real. Cryptsy really did Raffle off MN2 Shares they said they would never sell them, yet it was about 28 bitcoins worth of entries for the Raffle to win 200 MN2 shares. People were buying Cryptsy points to participate. Cryptsy also stated that they would buy back their own points to bolster the market so they also owned those points that were sold also. Their track record speaks for itself and it is the same tactics employed against users.

Yeah i seen that too !

I feel I need to give a response to the recent Coinfire article.   Like their previous article, they’ve make a lot of claims without giving any kind of proof to their claims.   I know many people don’t take coinfire very seriously these days, which is good.   However there are some out there that may not really know that the kind of “News” these guys produce is not always reliable.

We have never been investigated for anything, period.  We have never gotten any letters from any of the agencies that they have stated in their article, nor have we been contacted via phone or any other method.  It’s safe to say that this article and their reporting are completely false.   My guess is that whomever wrote this article has personal reasons for writing it and are attempting to hurt our business and reputation.

We will be reviewing our legal options against this libelous article.

User has missing coins when trading..
user questions where they went and has to ask an unregulated centralized private crypto exchange.
user get's an answer that may or may not be true.. who knows ?
user then considers the security and credibility of the exchange.
user eventually realizes this as an inherent flaw / feature by design by exchanges.
user see's culpability as a mask that can taken on or off by an exchanges at will.
user eventually comes to the conclusion that decentralized exchanges are needed ASAP !

Cryptsy has dodged calls for transparency often with an excuse of Security.

2016 may be the year they go down yeah.. i doubt they have long by the signs we see.
i doubt they are making money hand over fast anymore.. the Bitcoin boom has been over for a while.

2016 may be the year we take away their ability to sit in back rooms cooking up deals and manipulating markets.
They love being able to position themselves in a place of trust with the option of privately abusing their power at will.

I have on my own showcased (and others) a habitual & chronic pattern of Cryptsy being caught in a conflict of interest.
Just because Mullick says oh well.. i handed my coin over to someone else doesn't mean anything. *for example.

I said long ago as these guys drown they will start getting more and more sleazy and deceitful.
That BigVern mansion probably has a large electrical bill LOL
And there is no money left in the Altcoin scene.. it evaporated !

The end game is simple.. guys see the gig is up and they realize they have to get out..
so they rob anyone they can on their way out the door.

It's more a matter of do these exchanges do the honest thing or
do they steal the last of the cash and claim "i wuz hacked"
or maybe just vanish ?

I have a feeling Cryptsy will be creative in their exit game.

EDIT:
Let's have a look around and see how much complaining there is about other exchanges.
Then lets do a total count of all complaints from the beginning. (for all exchanges)
I am positive we will see Cryptsy come out the winner hands down.
