They did try attacking and Pant and Hardik quickly got dismissed. Dhoni tried his best, but he is not a perfect athlete who can finish every game perfectly even though he is regarded as the best finisher in Cricket. Nothing questionable about anything here. England outplayed India. Simple as that.
13:1 sixes prove how much India tried to chase. Don't tell me I'm saying this because I'm Bangladeshi. I support team India after Bangladesh because of their batting line, I have been a fan since the era of Sachin Tendulkar.
I also can remember the 2015 world cup match between Bangladesh vs India. I know how shady this things are.
Leave it and move on next. Yes, fixing are also a part of game, just like Ponting saying "slashing are also a part of cricket."

Fact SL vs WI
Did you guys see how Avishka Fernando is playing. I guess it's his 3rd match in world cup. He is doing pretty much better than usual Srilankan batsman these days. I think this guy will be a genius.

We better move on. England is the fourth best team to qualify for the semi. Having them in semi will excite more than any other team.

I bet on West Indies though Sri Lanka are batting well currently. If they keep going like this, they can easily win this one. The Windies bowlers bowl so randomly(Sometimes really good, sometimes really bad).
I also opted for WI and gone for easy margin. Sri Lanka is doing well but their middle order is not performing recently so I will still expect them not to score more than 280 runs.

India could go for attack from 45th or 46th over. There were no need to wait for the last over as usual Dhoni do. They had 5 wickets in hand but could not even go close in really questionable.

Today we have WI vs Sri Lanka. Both team are playing for honer and nothing more. Sri Lanka is betting well so far.

So finally England is back in the competition. People are questioning India's betting strategy but one have to admit that England bowled really well. They mixed their bowling with slower and pace with swing.

Anyway, I will leave it as a part of the game.

Sad to see India lose their first ever WC match but all I see on Twitter is hate for Dhoni. I also agree that they were taking too many singles but it's not only Dhoni's fault. Why can't it be that the England bowlers performed better that Dhoni couldn't manage the runs? Also, if he would get out, still he would be blamed.

And this max fixing thing is really illogical. Why should they lose purposely to not play with Pak in semis? Please don't make this thread an India-Pak discussion and rather focus on the game.

For how long you are going to defend this guy?

When Dhoni came to the crease, the required run rate was somewhere around 8 runs per over, and it was very much possible for India to win the match. But he failed to score even at a rate of one run per ball. Only when the required run rate got out of hand and got to 12-13 runs per over, he started hitting all those sixes and fours.

India were never in contention to win this match because of the way they approached it, first their players were lethargic in fielding, then their bowlers gifted England tons of runs. The biggest culprit for me is their opener Rohit and Indian captain Virat, the way they wasted the starting 10 overs ended India’s hope of winning the game. Ms Dhoni was never going to finish it and we all know he can’t hit due to his age, he’s only there for his wicket keeping skills so pointless screaming at him.

Dhoni and team did not try to chase at all. There were seven dots,  twenty singles, three fours, one six  in 31 balls (the last 5 overs of the Indian innings). Not to mention out of this Dhoni did try to win the match in the last over by hitting a 6 and a 4 , when the required rate was 44 runs and there was surety that the match cannot be won by India.

I don't what was the  reason behind it because most of the people who are in grease have very good experience in T20 matches, even the chances are very close and Team India has the ability to chase those runs easily but they are not very serious about the winning the match.

Everyone can clearly see the Pakistan and Bangladesh supporters go crazy because India lost, but under-estimating England just because they lost a match or two is foolishness. Stop depending on others teams like India to progress forward. Focus on improving your own game first.

Well, i do agree that Pakistan is still hanging out there otherwise it was all over for them in the Match against Afghanistan. Their win was not less than a miracle on that day. They need to improve a lot for the next Match or Matches (if they proceed further).

Hilarious. You people act like you understand the conditions perfectly as if you could have done a better job out there. The Indian bowlers(Chahal and Kuldeep) messed up their bowling lengths and Kohli and Rohit scored just 28 runs in the first 10.

MSD literally gave it his best and almost scored a brisk 50, but everyone thinks that this is IPL where he could have magically scored 100+ runs from 60 balls against a quality bowling lineup. How stupid can you people get?

India is my 2nd favorite country after Bangladesh. But the match yesterday was really full of shit. They could have strike but they didn't. They had wicket in hand but they played defensively. Dhoni is the most experienced player in the team as well.

Dhoni did not tried much because he wasn't capable anymore score more than 15 runs each over in 4-5 overs. He know we lost the match when Pandya got out.
That's why they just tried to play full overs without any risk. If Pandya did not got out, we most probably did won the match.

Well it's really hard to believe how the middle order batted. I don't want to put the entire blame since fielding positions and bowling variations were fantastic from the England team. Pitch didn't gave any benefit to spinners so Morgan changing Moeen Ali and bringing in Plunkett was really smart move and boy-o-boy he did performed to the expectations.

It's time for others apart from Kohli, Rohit to up their game.

To be honest, I have never seen this team India. I always have seen if they have wicket in hand 10,12, even 15 were easy for them. But today it was a bit different. From the beginning it seems like they aren't playing for a win. I don't know it's a fixing or not but it is something different from the actual team India.

Congratulate England on their winning , they did bat well and were a better team.

A 315 All out is way better than 300/5. And getting just singles isnt the best way for NRR minimization. #Pathetic"

India has started slowly which has now affected. If they were a little more faster, then it would be an easy match to win. Now that England winning today, chance of Bangladesh and Pakistan getting mere. It's really sad to see England winning tonight.

India has fixed this match. Everyone can see what Indians Batsmen are doing on the field.

Commentators at cricinfo having same view.

Shubham: "Run rate capitalization?? What the hell I just heard!! There are still 2 proper batsman on crease and if they can't go for victory I'm sorry, India aren't winning the WC" - Dhoni is pragmatic. If he thinks the target is beyond and going for it will result in foolhardiness, he bides his time and just takes the total closer. That's my reading at least

Quote
Rishi: "After Pandya's departure what we are seeing is ridiculous. No intent for chase at all. Minimizing NRR is fine but these are proper batsmen and scoring singles when required rate is over 15....Not good at all!"

England played their best when they are in need and now 50+ run needed in 14 balls which is absolutely not possible.

Maybe England fans are much happier now.

Needs 120 from 69 balls and Sharma is also gone which means the chances are getting slimmer but remember Dhoni is still there who can get the game away from opposition in few overs so need to see him in the last 7 overs if India want to win this match. And the bowling of Archer is also important in the death to decide which is going to be a winner.
Hardik Pandey gone now and now we have Dhoni and Jadhav in the crease and England are bowling really well mixing up the slower delivery and it is difficult to score easily and the run rate is climbing and it is an impossible task now with 60 odd runs to get from 4 overs, either way it was a good match of cricket and both teams played really well and England controlled the match from the start, it is a good experience for India and it will help in the latter part of the tournament.
