DASH = x11 = ASICs
With x11 on GPUs you waste time and money !

Anyone mining DASH with AMD or NVIDIA?  How does that compare to the Baikalminer ASIC miner?  A friend just brought that conversation up today and I know nothing about mining DASH but it's smoking hot in prices right now.

gpu is no good compared to baikals way way way too much power usage with gpu

@ m1n1ngP4d4w4n - Reelen have his GF doing the cabling and connection for his server Rack.  The picture of the Sapphire Server Rig that looks good was done by his GF not him.  Hahaha

Ahah lucky guys ! need to find a geeky wifey too  Cool

@ GMPoison - 600 AMP to be EXACT.but I lowered the Main for the Garage to 150AMP.

Garage - 200 AMP - Wire rated for max of 175 AMP but Electrician kept arguing.  I had another Electrician confirmed and drop the Main breaker to 150AMP to be safe.
Outdoor - 2 x 200 AMP Siemens Copper bus as listed in the front page.

Picture of the Garage panel installing the Eaton whole house surge protector.

All 3 Panels have the Eaton whole house Surge protector inside.

Good plan Cryptowatcher.  Let's make something sexy for the community.  I am liking your idea, you got my support 100%.  Would be happy to order the supply for you to help push the project along for a Sexier Pico cabling design.

On different news - Eth cool down a bit this morning and I decided it's probably a good idea to take profit and convert to Bitcoins and ride that wave.  Also work up to a rig that was down from a MSI RX470 being shorted.  EVGA PSU are very smart, if there's a short.  It will not power back on until you remove the power connection to that GPU.  So I have to isolate which one and in order to get the PSU to turn back on, I have to remove the MB cable and plug it back.  After that I take the shorted GPU and I bring it to my Corsair to power it up and end it's Life fast as that's when the GPU WILL sizzle and goes to smoke.  After that it's RMA time.

CANT STOP.............WONT STOP!!!!

FIDDLING w PCI Powered Risers and Server PSU in Preparations for Picos

****************** OFFICE SERVER PSU and PICOs **************

In order for use the Server PSU in my office, I needed a quieter FAN solution.  The other fan solution using Finksy or HAWKFISH007 fans are a no brainer for the Garage or Shed but for the office, I need to have it quiet so I can still handle my Day Job's conference calls.

Playing with different FAN options (LED FANs get bonus points).  Since the office is much cooler than the Garage, my guess is 2 x 75 CFM fan is sufficient for low to average load.  I still want to power 3-4 Rigs per 4KW bundle.  However, things are now changed once I go PICO route as 99% of the power will be handled by the server PSU vs split load with the baby PSU.  This means it may get hotter than usual.  So will have to test to know for sure if that is sufficient.  Can you see my level of EXCITEMENT when I can cheaply SOURCE GOLD RATED or even PLATINUM Rated pair of server PSU and share it with many rigs to help keep cost down?  Mark AZ is also using the IBM 2500W server PSU but he use them individually with a small breakout board with Pico.  I will add his rig setup in the Sexy Rigs section on Front page.

VERY QUIET NOW.

HAWKFISH007 have these PCI powered riser now.  They are by FAR the highest quality RISER ever.  This should have been how risers are made from the beginning.  They also come with 6pin to SATA connection so you can use with normal ATX PSU.  The Capacity are bigger.  The card is heavier and the cable is very solid, it won't be easily disconnected and catch on fire like the cheapy old riser MOLEX to SATA.

Now I'm just waiting for my last part of the PICO setup.  The PCI to Barrel adapter coming tomorrow.

I bought splitters so that cabling will be neater and SEXIER.  This also help reduce the valuable PCI SLOT used so I can power more rigs per 4KW bundle.

why not make your own splitters instead of buying them, its pretty cheap and you control the quality

Because ETH is almost $20 and 1 BTC is worth more than an OZ of GOLD.................. Muahaha................  It's a wonderful time to be a Miner.

This is amazing -- it feels like late 2015 all over again.

Dont miss this guys - stop fiddling with your rigs and let them work hard.

@Citronick - I bought mine on Amazon for $200.  Price went up a bit.  I chose the SEEK over the FLIR due to the higher operating temperature which is what we need in our super HOT mining places.

Thanks yun but....

Wifey say I already have a Fluke 62, so why another.... Shocked

LOL  Grin -- I am keen to get one Thermal Camera too.

I will use your justification technique to wifey... and test it on her when she get angry  Cheesy

Please share link for purchase

I work with a home inspector - we use a flir to check for water leaks and overheating electrical. You can also pitch it as a stud finder for hanging pictures, leaks in plumbing and to check thermal efficiency around the home.

Here's a place to buy: http://www.flir-direct.com/?gclid=CP3AytuTudICFY17fgodB3MHtQ

************  THERMAL CAMERA *********************************

Got this recommendation from m1n1ngP4d4w4n.  What a wonderful device!  I previously used the Laser Heat gun which was very cheap and great at quick spot checking but nothing like this THERMAL CAMERA!

You can quickly view all the HOTSPOTs.

This is my Mining Shed.  You can even see the Floor concrete blocks heating up from the Sun

You can see that the Patch Panel are getting very warm.

It starts to get more interesting when you add the spot temperature indicator which let's you know if it's hot enough to be of a concern or just hotter than the other areas.

Here I'm comparing the different GPU temp to find out which one is having issues.  Usually idle or failing GPU will have lower temp but not always.  I can also use the same feature to see if any of my SATA to Molex cables are of poor AWG and are overheating (ready to melt, cause fire, etc).

I also use it to look from my intake air side of the Rack to see where some of the hot air is recirculating back and how I can improve it.  As expected the top side where I have 3 U of empty space is recirculating back some heat.  The very top side where you see all red is just the temp or the Heat wall.

I use the same camera to see my hot zones in the Shed Rack to work on the flow redirection to fix it from going from bottom to higher racks.

There's a million use for this camera.  Here's another one.  Instead of pulling out a thermometer.  I can just scan my kids to see if they're ok or is having a fever.  That's how I justify the cost with the wife.  =)

@KaydenC - Would be good to know the dimensions from front to that center FAN support mount.  If too short, you'll be limited to very short GPUs.  Keep in mind the stock fans will be useless.  You will need fatter and stronger CFM fans in order to cool this enclosed OVEN.  You can change the cooling direction by changing the fan direction so it shouldn't matter if you mount center or front but I prefer front as I can pull cool air from the MB side, rather than push the HOT GPU air over everything.  Would be good to know total price shipped to compare against the Rosewill.  It's always good to have an alternative solution.
