Well ... lets just say that there is a REALLY easy way to prove if it is happening,
with a small change to probably almost any miner program ...

Anyone want code suggestions? Smiley

Do we take cgminer and make it use are gpu's to divide by zero?

You aren't being serious, are you kano? Or do you have some proof? I'd be very interested in seeing it if you do.
This actually happened a few times in last month, and I'm glad that some hopper contacted me and explained what is going on so I can fix it.
Some shares were left in "temporary cache" and were accounted for later blocks, but since this was a bug and share movement was not controlled (some later blocks were shorter and some longer) it didn't caused any serious effect on rewards.

Poor impulse control.
Effect of poolhoppers is negligible, I'm trying to scare them off Smiley
How? It's obviously not with your payment scheme since it's pure prop, unless it's not truly that...
Actually, what is happening is that deepbit is moving shares that users send them from one block into other blocks when they do the payment calculation to reduce payments for some ...

If DeepBit did what you suggest, they'd no longer be paying proportionally, and it wouldn't be hard for a pool hopper to figure that out and post a "scammer!" notice. I've noticed for the last couple of months that DeepBit's hashrate for short rounds isn't boosted the way it was when I first looked at it. Last time I looked I couldn't see any significant pool hopping hashrate increase.

My guess is that DeepBit is scaring them off by using their mountain of btc to buy goon squads to send to pool hoppers' homes and then raping and pillaging their computers. Unfortunately this method will only lead to an arms race which might lead to the end of the world as we know it.

I think that this method is much simpler and more effective than what you suggest Wink

No, the payment scheme is pure Proportional.

The mentioned situation was caused by a bug in round end detection routine and happened only a few times.

Please fix your send code to use multisend and to use the public key hash for 1VayNert3x1KzbpzMGt2qdqrAThiRovi8 instead of the full public key for the change output while you're at it!
Actually using public key makes those transactions on average 9% smaller than with a key hash, so I'm using full key for a reason.

You're polluting the block chain unnecessarily and slowing down your own confirmations.

Its not the first time it has happened but my daily payout still isn't confirmed 9 hours after broadcasting. Are you not including your own transactions in found blocks? I would imagine being a miner here should mean my payments are included in the blocks I am helping to mine.
Recently the TX queue got much longer because of that SatoshiDice flood. I'm making necessary adjustments to my priority policy, so it should get better soon.
Sorry for this delay.

yea i got ddos'ed a few times on deepbit yesteday. God hackers out to stop people from making a decent bitcoin in a day? wtf.. anyways is the website down? i can't access it. Also noticed we are going pps like btcguild? cuz my shares don't make sense.

f. e. 1 share = .000024xxxxxpie! etc.. so 300 shares is .0072 is round up to 8. Well I'm getting 1/2 of it. Say if pps is 90%, u guys get 10%. and shared is 83? Well jsut wanted to tell u guys i'm getting something like .00001x per share or something so yea it's off big time. Unless i'm getting bitcoin hijacked by my guiminer.

DeepBit is already a PPS Pool, its been a merged Prop and PPS pool for a long time. If your mining Prop your shares aren't going to be the exact rate, depending on the luck of the round it will be worth more or less then it. Plus you will be effected by Hoppers.

ok i guess that expains it. I changed all mine to pps now. since getting 1/2 of 0.00002851867381100 BTC per share is ridiculous.

In last 2 days our luck is 10 to 20% better than expected, so you should get even more than PPS.

when the dos is over do you flush the ip table it is using? otherwise you will have a ton of users
sitting in this table and unable to connect. plus the support issues to deal with.
Should be cleaned automatically after some timeout.

This sucks we were on such a good winning streak.  Cry
I wonder who you pissed off this time  Undecided

Nobody pissed someone off.  It's summer, it's a bunch of script kiddies home from school and back at their parents' house with nothing to do.  I got hit briefly yesterday, and I've been continuing to get threatening emails demanding money (via LibertyReserve, lol) or else BTC Guild will go down again just like Deepbit.  Same shit as last year, except this time it's not as bad (last time they were able to take down all the major pools at once).  There's nothing any pool op can do but wait it out.

I'm hoping by now everybody at least learned to set MULTIPLE backup pools.  And hopefully they're not all pointed at the 4 largest pools because a larger threat could easily take down most of the Top 10 at once.

EDIT:  Looks like I pissed them off with my comment.

Yah! keep talking shit its working Cheesy
The zombie horde is leaving!

Looks like it may be a false positive of our ddos-protection system. You can try changing your IP or waiting. Sorry about that.

changed IP to the other subnet and cgminer is working again.
