Yes, you're right. i think DeepOnion will become more popular before the year end. Deep Onion has a strong community and a lot of member of bitcoin talk is joining the campaign.

Geee ... Let me think ... Wait ten minutes to sync a wallet or leave my wallet and it's funds completely outside of my control. I'm going to go with the wait 10 minutes to sync option.

Duh, it will just take less than 10mins everyday to sync and be updated. It wouldn't cause that much time, at least in my case. It's not even a trade-off yet between security and convenience considering the network state.
